I'm currently experimenting to see if Monkey Shoulder Whiskey pairs well with Xmas cookies.

I'm pleased to report that it does.

George- That sounds like a really tough job, not to mention dangerous.
It took 2 years to complete the 2 building. Two people when off there in a basket lower down by the main crane. When you strip the forms some times they come down in a chain reaction. My partner got frostbite on the 38 floor of the second building. It was 18 below zero in the wind that day. He never worked again and died of complications 3 months later. He was to retire at the end of the job only 3 months away. I retired soon after that. I've been home working on my model railroad ever since in a nice warm basement.

Bright and brisk (42f) Sunday morning in Yokohama. Pic is view from our 16th story hotel room. 3.5 star hotel in the main station building (yet I’ve only heard a low rumble from a billet train once).

wife is off to her sister’s apartment to do laundry. I’m going to nap an hour before I have to get up and get ready for services today.

Good evening gang!

Yesterday was a half day at work. Spent the afternoon with #1 son. Took him to get a haircut and give him his Christmas gifts. He live with his mother in a subsidized new apartment about 30 minutes away. Both he and his mother are full time disabled and recently had their car repossessed due to her inability to handle her income. Part of the problem is her mental state and her alcoholism. His problem is his manic-depressive condition combined with his obesity (450 lbs +) makes him pretty much unemployable. Worse yet is his refusal to leave his mother. I've offered many times to take him in, get his meds regulated, put him on a healthy diet (he lives on junk food), get him a car and a job. Sons #2 and #3 have offered the same, but he won't take advantage of it. All I can do is remind him he has a family that cares, even if he doesn't.

Today SWMBO took #4 son Christmas shopping, which let me retrieve her gift from the truck and get it wrapped and under the tree. As soon as she saw the box the questions came. "What's in it, does it need batteries, does it need accessories, do I use it inside or outside?" I told her I will tell her on the 25th. ;) Other than that I spent the day on the couch with the dog, watching movies.

Tomorrow I plan to escape at the crack of dawn to finish my Christmas shopping, before the sleepy town awakens, and the after church crowd assembles. The afternoon may bring a trip to my not so local LHS.

Are you all ready for the fat man??

One interesting thing about accessing the forum from Japan is the ads are all Japanese and totally different subject matter to the ads I see in the forum at home.

Lots of anime and manga character based ads. No idea what they’re selling. Or video ads that look like their based on Japanese TV variety shows.

Good evening fellow Spike drivers & Gandy dancers !

Hi there Francine - Flo, how's it going Mel?
Oh yes Francine, I'd like some fried sweet potato slices and black coffee.
Thanks.

It's 41°F and Clear with Humidity of 79% and a low of 36°F.

I attempted to post earlier but something went arye ?

I did get my space heater but haven't tried it out yet.

>For any of you with joint inflammation problems like I have sweet potatoes don't have the same chemical as Russets due so no stiffness after eating them.

I'll have several Reply posts to follow.

Take care.

My wife is a nurse in the “CPRU” at the local large medical center. That means “cardiac post-operative recovery unit”. The place you go after angioplasty or other sorts of “out patient” heart procedures.

I asked her about it after reading here about it. She said a lot but I’m distilling it down to: if you don’t have a lot of other issues then generally it is an in and out type thing and relatively safe. They do a bunch every day. Those people who have problems are ones that have other serious issues.

so good luck all you heart procedure candidates.

I know I would be scared stiff. I’ve not been much in a hospital lately but did have the metal in my ankle taken out like 8 years ago from a broken ankle like 12 years ago and I was super apprehensive lying on the gurney.
