Good Morning All!
30F and overcast.
Got mo snow the last couple of days - probably amounted to 3 or 4 inches. We do not have as much as Dave though. The light snow; weight wise we have been getting shrinks even without wind. Weather guessers are still saying more snow in the works. We will see.

Welp, tomorra is the start of my 71st orbit. Suspect that I will not be around until Saturday as Wife and Daughter's squeeze have plans for me which probably will include food and booze in different locations...Not a geographical drunk like the old days cuz all the places we seem to frequent are less than a mile apart. I do have to be at the VFW for the DSO about 11, so nothing happens until after that. Don't worry as I only have 2 drinks/beers - the 1st one and the Last one; and on top of that - my Type II is magically going to go away for a bit.

Got a RibEye slab the Kalispell run day before yesterday and sliced one thick piece for 4 of us; cut and bagged 12, inch thick ones for the freezer. Also grabbed a couple of bags 10-14 count shrimp and kept enough out of the freezer for us to have 2 each. Green beans with onion and bacon along with Mac and Cheese and broiled/toasted French Bread spread with garlic, butter and sour scream is the main, Chocolate Cream Pie is either before the main or desert; depending if I go and get salad makings.

Still have pork rib slabs to cut and freeze, along with a 15Lb bag of salad shrimp to split into 8oz portions for the freezer. Probably will do the 20Lbs of Blue Berries into 8oz bags also that has been sitting waiting patently . Need to slice a 8Lb Pastrami, bag and freeze for sandwich makings.

I tried to get a big chub of bologna for slicing, but no go. The stuff in the local store is close to $6Lb - hamburger is cheaper; geesh.

Later
As one former Truckie to another, have a good one.🥳🥳🥳

Good morning Spike Drivers & Gandy Dancers, how are things here at Jeffreys' Dinner ?

Hello Flo - Francine, how are my two favorite waitresses this December 15th. Bill of Rights Day, my 77th. Birthday and the morning of Jeffrey's passing 4 years (?) ago.

Flo, I'd like 3 eggs scrambled, lightly cooked, hash browns, Rye toast with Peanut butter and Raspberry jam and Black Coffee. There's a $2.00 tip in advance.

It's 49°F with Hum-i-dity of 72% and slightly cloudy.

Since I came back after my long absence I've been wondering about several other member's I haven't seen on here lately ? Old Ray from N.Y., Ray in Alabrails.nd Phil near Curt. Has any heard from them ?

Modeling the 1890's to 1910 era I keep looking to find an early rail inspection vehicle like maybe an old car or flat bed truck converted to run on the rails.
One of the large hobby shops in NY (?) Used to have 1930 High railer cars but I don't recall there name.

Have a great day !
Happy Birthday to you too David. From a Sierra foothills neighbor to your north.

Years back I had that happen right in my back yard where I could literally walk in-and-out of the rain !

David - Happy Birthday Sir.
Jeffrey passed away in 2014, 8 years ago. I remember it well, as we were going to meet up while my wife and I were going to be going down I-49 in LA and were going to pass less than 30 miles from his home. Unfortunately he stopped E-mailing me about a month prior.
You asked about some other members. I can only specifically respond about Phil. He just stopped being interested in model railroading. It had a lot to do with the fact that his layout was in a non-climate controlled garage, and his health just couldn't put up with that any more. I think that it was mainly the humidity there in Florida. Curt might have a more recent update.
EDIT: My last contact with Phil was in February.

How do you find the sound bar, my tv has Dolby sound and I find that pretty good. Dont know if I need a sound bar.
I really like it. Surprisingly my 75" Samsung TV has poor sound. At least to my ears. The sound bar helps me to understand what is being said on TV, I don't have to rely so much on closed captions. I really enjoy the wireless subwoofer; my wife said, "it makes our living room sound like a movie theater."

Happy Birthday David!

While out on the weekly grocery trek this morning, we got a call and went by the rental car place to get a different vehicle, different from that absolute POS Ford Ecosport. We had complained yesterday after driving it for a few hours. So today we were given a Ford Bronco, much better. Bigger, better ride and with much better acceleration. However since it had just come back in, they only cleaned it up and didn't fill it up with gas, so I will have to estimate how much to put back in when we return it. They did note on the paperwork that it was not full.
Regarding filling the returned one up, I noted that gasoline was at $2.56/gal today.

Afternoon All,

Started out with a walk this morning. The temp was 69F. Almost summer like. The cold front has come through since the rain has stopped. Current temp 67F going down to the 50's tomorrow. Visited Jon this morning. The sharks are almost quiet w/o sound. Very good for a basic Bachmann (all original) that's at least 10 years old. I don't know what's on the agenda for tomorrow.

Trussrod- Happy Birthday. 🎂

Dave- Brrrr!❄️☃️. Great photos.

Gary- I have a sound bar (Vizio). It works well for my wife.

TomO- Happy wife, happy life.

Todd- Happy Birthday.🎂

Christian-Cute puppy.

rgeiter/karl- Nice looking kitties.

Willie- You are correct about Phil, add to that his constant computer issues (I think operator error). That reminds me I need to call him.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Trussrod -

Hobby shops here in NY have been dropping like flys as of late.

JPs in Latham NY is closing the end of this year. I think a friend of his or family member is thinking of opening a new one at a new location. JP is closing as he sold the property that shop sits on.

Milepost Hobbies in Amsterdam is doing ok. He had a dispute with the landlord and then they came to an agreement.

A new shop opened last month in Utica NY but I do not remember the name.

I think one you may have been talking or thinking about was called Mohawk Valley Hobby shop that one close earlier this year.

There is a Lionel hobby shop in Saratoga Springs but he has been around a while but not very customer friendly and a very small shop.

That's all I know around here in NY where I am at. I am in upstate NY in the foot hills of the Adirondacks. A hour and 15 minutes north of Albany.

Well, howdy there internet people.

It's Troy again.

After years of asking for a major award, I finally got one.

Had to order it myself. But it's a beaute!

Wife got a cruise, and a two-arm monitor stand for her work desk. It's what she wanted.

Hope you all have a good one.

Colds are still the name of the game here. Mine is settling into my chest. Probably going to be coughing tonight. We'll see.

The old man finally passed on, and one of the things he had insisted on was for a horse-drawn hearse for his funeral.
As the horses pulled the hearse up the hill to the cemetery, the pin holding the horses to the hearse sheared off, and the hearse went rolling back through town at high speed. The hearse continued until it ran into the front of the local drug store, where it came to a rather violent stop. It was so violent the casket broke away from its restraints, knocked down the front door, and skidded down the main aisle to the the back of the store, where it was stopped by the substantial counter at the pharmacy of the store. The lid flew off, and the old man sat upright, looking at the horrified pharmacist, and said:

"Have you got anything to stop this coffin?"

Boo!!! 😂

G3sa #219 with #7 @ reading PA 12-06-1948 - Paul hartline Photo.jpg

I have recently posted photos of new GP7s and FP7s which replaced the Reading's 5 year old G3sa 4-6-2s in the early 50s. Pictured above in this photo by Paul Hartline, is RDG 219, the last 4-6-2 passenger steam engine produced in America. Shown at Reading PA on 12/06/1948 on Train # 7, "The Schuylkill" enroute to Philadelphia. It is noteworthy, that the Reading was already operating Alco S-1 and S-2 ; EMC NW-2s and SW-1s, and Baldwin VO 660 and VO 1000 switchers throughout the system, and A-B-B-A sets of FTs were hauling main line freight, when they made the decision to construct the G3 class and the T1 Class 4-8-4, beginning in 1945.

Good Evening Spike drivers.

Say Francine, how about a nice bowl of Hot Apple Cobbler !

Since my earlier post I decided I'd better get more fire wood for the night so I made three trips loading 2 - 24 lb. Cat food bags each trip with split and Oak rounds about 22" in length for the night. That's what a Sigma Lone-Wolf has to do even on his birthday !

Thank you all for the Happy Birthday wishes: Willie, Truck Dad, Alcomotive, Brunette and Curt
