Afternoon all,

Been a busy day and the lunch was nice. Basically ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn and a dinner roll. Desert was pumpkin cake or a cookie. Not much, but free. No quarterly bonuses or recognitions, but I did leave as soon as I ate to run a couple of errands. Gas in town where I work is down to $2.69 at a couple of stations. Still higher at others and $2.79 when I left the town I live in this morning. Sadly I filled up at $2.81 Monday night.

Sun shown a bit this morning, but the winter dreary clouds have re-emerged. A week until winter begins, then the days get longer again. I really notice it more as I age.

A lady who retired a year ago came by, and asked why I hadn't retired yet. I asked her if hell froze over yet...lol Zombie Patrick still at it when he's 182 years old...

Hearing loss, tinnitus, various other health problems. Yep, I do the best I can to treat them and ultimately live with them. I see every day as a gift from God. I do my best not to complain. I learned young, count your blessings, not your problems.

I believe suffering is good for the soul. Not that I would willfully suffer needlessly. If it is beyond my control, I will embrace it. Better to suffer on earth than later.

I in no way mean to downplay others' problems. Many have it much worse than I do. This is my way of dealing with problems. Most of my problems are self-inflicted and well earned.

I think unless you have a go at the politicians you are likely to survive, sometimes expressing anger is healthy, if you wish to take a volley at me anytime feel free, a bun fight can be fun and we know our friendly moderator will clip our teeth if we get too close to the jugular, although that might be taking advantage of his good will. but in my experience if you stop talking to someone who offended you, you could quickly run out of friends.
That said the photos are always welcome.
I think a lot of people have angst at the moment, bad weather, bad politics, war too close for comfort, inflation, fuel bills, interest rates you name it there is little good news, one reason why I retreat in here to share time with people who are similarly inclined, and we are all capable of having a bad day or longer, that does not mean we should boot them o ut, but if people are offended then they should also say so that people know they are easier offended.
We are all different, thank god, if I had to live with only clones of myself there would not be a hole deep enough to hide lol. Vive la difference!
Quite often a bit of teasing makes my day, because people need to pay attention to who you are to 😈 tease.
Perhaps we should consider an item to debate on - not politics - and take a stance - guns at 20 paces and fire lol. as most of us have similar ideas on modelling there’s not a lot there, I tell you what though, which did come first the chicken or the 🥚 🪺 egg, for me I would argue the egg, because it had to come from somewhere I.e. somethings ‘butt’ plus that thing had to evolved enough to be able to lay the egg, but had to have changed enough to count as a definitive different species, so you have a little dinosaur that runs around ,aging eggs like lizards can, then it jumps from trees, and bigger arms allow longer glides when in danger then its lizardy scales get finer and finer until feathers, I bet the first mum who discovered it had a cute chicken then turned into a hen pecking little morning crowing cockerel was like wtf…..and abandoned it.
ok gone off to[ic left the reservation….anyone got a better argument?
For those of you who Jazz lost on the post, this may help.

Got more work done on setting up the op session. Most of the trains are assembled now. I had a unit train, Auto Racks runnin around the layout while I worked. That will be one of the trains I haven't actually put on the dispatcher table yet.

Good evening.
It's cloudy and 71.
The good news is, the "meeting" was postponed.
The bad news is, the promised pizza was cold, leftover Pappa John's.
If that's all this "largest family owned chain" can afford, I think they, and by extension, me, are in trouble.

Jaz- the chicken/egg scenario reminds me of the time when my sister brought home a baby chick from hs biology class. It did perfectly fine in the back yard. Until the morning that summer when he began to crow while Mom was in the shower getting ready for work. Dad, sister & I were down in southern West Virginia, working as part of the Appalachian Service Project(outreach project thru the UMC, fixing up peoples homes in the poorer parts of the Southern Appalachia region). The borough where we lived had an ordinance against “non-domestic animals”. The lone variance was a house around the corner that had a menagerie of farm animals. They were grandfathered in because that home was a farm prior to the ordinance & is still in the same family. Little Baby Chick ended up moving down to Uncle Frank’s farm.
Joe- thank you for continuing to post 1:1 pictures, especially the Philly & South Jersey ones.
For those of you who Jazz lost on the post, this may help.
And a man will go to his “Nothing Box” EVERY SINGLE TIME!!

Morning all,

29° and cold this morning with a high in the upper 30's. Strong winds will make the wind chill in the middle 20's all day.

I need a quiet day today...strange happenings with the systems this week have kept me busier than I like. Nest week was supposed to be a short day week, but looks like I'll still be working nearly 40 hours based of stuff scheduled and we're closed on Friday and Monday for Christmas. While I like the time off, I certainly don't like the still have 40 hours+ of work to do.

I do have time for a coffee and pecan roll this morning. Thanks Flo...And what the heck, on the house for everyone else today as well on my tab. Remember there's no calories in a free roll from Mel's!

Later

Good morning gang!

Flo, my dear, canna you fetch me a plate of your finest biscuits and gravy, to help keep me warm on this icy day?

Yea, it be icy here this morning. Thank goodness for remote start and seat heaters on my truck. The drive was a little slippery coming in, especially driving over Liberty reservoir, the bridge was dicey, but ok.

Now I am setting here watching the lemmings in their shiny metal boxes whiz by, oblivious and happy. While a mix of rain, sleet and snow falls.
It's days like this that I wish I could have stayed home. Oh well, 5 more years til retirement.

And a man will go to his “Nothing Box” EVERY SINGLE TIME!!
Drives the wife nuts when she catches me doing it! 😄

Good morning from an extremely white So. Central Wisconsin where the white started falling between 9 and 10pm yesterday and has not let off. Either the white stuff has stopped or there is so much out there the County Plows have already gone by the driveway 4 times going west and 3 times going east so far in the last 35 minutes per the security camera. Unfortunately I can definitely see it has not stopped. On Monday the guessers were saying this storm would miss us, same on Tuesday but we also got, if it follows the track. Yesterday, the tune was changed to 4-6” and at dinner time last night the guesser told us, it maybe a foot “in places”. Based on the way it’s clinging to the trees, it’s also very wet.

All is good in the house. The hobby room is empty except for some vacuuming to tidy up. Took the 5 guys 2 hours to unbolt and move the layout to the truck outside the garage door. Took another hour for the slot track. Took maybe 30 minutes to move my train bins up to the garage. They showed at 4pm had 5 pizzas and beer at 6:30. Sad, no not really but kind of relieved it’s done. Very happy that the SIL was adamant about letting him and his friends do this for me. Each live in the SIL‘s neighborhood and of the 4 neighbors that helped 3 I had built slot tracks for. They also got great discounts on the properties they all built on. Good guys! Today they will unload the truck into heated storage in the equipment barn.

Today the SIL turns 42. Birthday cake as requested by him to Terry is gluten free Oreo dirt cake. As the Chief taste tester yesterday I can say, all will like it. His gifts are ready as is the cake, alternative cookie choices for the granddaughter and we just wait now for the dinner place of his choice.

I believe Terry’s office is now officially a Amazon depot. 3 times yesterday Amazon dropped off as did UPS and the USPS. Not just stuff she ordered but gifts from our guests arriving for the parties starting Friday through Christmas for most and my sister till February.

Terry has been extremely nice the last few days. I am getting set up for something…

The architect called yesterday. The final house plans are ready, when can they come over? The architect, project manager and the lead construction foreman will show up this afternoon. All of a sudden this is all real.

enjoy the day

Good Morning All. Clear and 34° here right now. It will probably drop below freezing around sunrise in another hour. Not a lot of change in the weather here until next Thursday when we might see a few days in a row when it doesn't get above 32°. Brrrh!
Never did rain here yesterday, although it did less than a quarter mile up the road at several neighbors homes. That's always an interesting phenomena to observe.

Well, it appears that my wife is finished decorating the Christmas tree.

I reluctantly added the bubble lights; I don't particularly like those things. But if it makes her happy, so be it.

Weekly grocery trek day today. Prime Rib Roasts are on sale all over town, and there's room in the freezer for several. I still have one that I bought on sale last month. Nothing else of note planned for today other than bringing in a steady stream of firewood. Three trips at most. Yesterday I removed all of the tree-decorating totes from the living room so my wife can use the whole floor for wrapping gifts.

Thanks Terry, Troy, and Patrick for the leads on the sound meter app. Now I just have to figure out what my account name is! I told y'all that I am cell phone challenged.

Out in the train shed yesterday, it was more of the same. I'm still ballasting. I applied another coat of paint to the inside of the containment berm and temporarily set the loading platforms in place.

Dave B -
Started with ice at 3 am now snow, temp 32. Not going to work today, not a car on the road,
At least in your neck of the woods, they do have snow removal equipment for the public roads. Here we rely on the first tractor or 4WD pickup truck bringing one of those large round bales of hay to livestock, to provide a path. The county might send out a grader two or three days later if the County Emergency Services Team (ambulances, fire trucks) demands it. They've gotten better after the emergency guys got a court order a few years back.

Everybody have a great day.
