Wanna hear something funny?
With the exception of a Bowser Western Maryland "hammerhead" RS3 (due out next year) I plan on buying NO more locomotives for the rest of my days.
Seriously,
Stop laughing!
I read this and laughed so hard I fell off my chair

I said in November a few weeks ago about rolling stock, that was it for 2022. Then last week I go buy almost a unit train of reefers…
and Since I have nothing to pull this new unit train I am checking out 6 wheel locomotives
Boris!!!
It's great to see your posts!!!
Good afternoon, all! A very dreary, overcast day here in H-Town. Still made it into the 70's though.
I too thought I had all the locomotives I needed, yet I convinced the wife by get me a NW-2, Boston and Maine, as a Christmas gift.
With exception of putting the rope in the hand of the little guy on the stairs, Val-U Fuels and Oils is complete. I do need to plant it, but I already have a spot picked out.
STAY SAFE
LATER
Chad, that is great of you to keep us posted. Thank you for the pictures.
I know how you feel, my wife and her family all speak Hungarian (Magyar) I don't. I can speak enough to ask for the foods I like!
Have fun!
I wish Sherrell would come back.

No, my family moved out of Brooklyn in 1959. We moved to New Orleans where they spoke a whole different language. Finally got to Texas in 1961.
I did go to the Brooklyn Fox Theater to see one of his shows in 1964. When I find the exacta knife that rolled off my desk one day and never found. I'll buy that lottery ticket. It's too big to just disappear.

I have very fond memories of living in Brooklyn. Although after living in the country for over 50 years, I could never go back to those close quarters. I can't even go back to living in the suburbs where homes are 30' apart.
Good morning. 10am in Kobe and around 51F Tuesday morning.
Don’t know what is on tap today. Some shopping and swimming maybe. I need to do some “day job” stuff this morning. My year end review needs to be submitted (a self review) and I was helping a new junior guy before I left but we didn’t finish due to escalations I had to work on so I told him I’d try and find some time to help him finish up some stuff I was helping him with.
Thursday we’re going to Yokohama on the bullet train (Shinkansen). My other sister in law lives there and we are visiting 4 days plus 3 more in Tokyo. She has to go back to work but will meet up with us evenings etc. in Tokyo. Yokohama is like 15 min on a fast train. 30 on a commuter I think.

Home safe and sound.
Forgot to take my pills this morning... or rather some of them. Found a daily allergy pill rolling around in the zip lock bag I store the pill case in when traveling.
Being in swampy LA (New Orleans) and no allergy pill. No wonder my ear decided to pop after my post-nasal drip went nuts and filled my sinuses... ugh. Landing on flight one was rough. Find some Tylenol with sinus meds at the Charlotte airport. That helped on take-off flight #2... but the descent was rough.
Back into the normal home routine tomorrow. Ear is still bugging me. But the cat likes me. He's laying in the recliner with me, still purring.

OK gang....
I have been struggling with sound. Ya'll know I wear hearing aids and well sounds can be difficult at times. I have been programing all my DCC sound locomotives and trying to set the sound levels at medium to low level as to not blast me out of the room etc. I found that different decoders react differently on levels numbers etc. So I wondered if any of you have done anyhting like this? Bought a decibel meter? I want to try to get everything close to the same level but even when I set everything at the same number settings some locos are still louder or softer than others.
So I am looking at this meter here and may just buy it to try to do this...
If anyone has thoughts or comments that you can add I am all ears

Willie:. Have you tried Lowe's or Home Depot or Amazon?

Not sure if you have a smartphone?
If so, there are several apps for sound meters. I use SPL Meters for environmental monitoring. If memory serves, it runs about $5
The app might work, or might not be focussed enough. Add in a stand for the phone, and keep each loco the same distance from the phone or meter, and it should work.

James, I have an app for my smart phone that was free. I'd recommend using something like that, rather than a standalone device.
Hi Gary, Glad the MDC Shay runs well, how slow will it move, how many seconds to crawl from the start of one tie to the next tie?
I think I had mine down to 2 seconds?
I still have a 2 Truck kit and a 3 Truck kit left.
I will have to check that out after Xmas, I have no DCC yet. Just bought this to force me quicker into having to have it. It also worked with the era that I want.
I've never understood what the point is of a locomotive crawling from tie to tie in over 2 seconds.
Morning all,
Raining and 51° this morning in Doo Dah. Not supposed to get more than a couple of degrees warmer today and then return to colder tomorrow.
Not much going on yet, so I have time for the western omelet with hash browns and bacon, whole wheat toast and coffee. Thanks Francine! Oh yeah, put everyone's coffee on me this morning. It's almost Christmas.
James: Try a app first. it would be cheaper if it works, although the price of that meter you posted is terrible.
