An old friend gave me one of his original albums (cassett, tape or CD, I don't recall) when I had just bought a 47' wood ketch that I took cruising thru the Bahamas for a year. Avoided the news and the rest of the world for that year,....just booze and music and young girls. (I think the name of that album was A1A)
Someone asked me how i could just drop out like that,...I replied that all i needed to know was if someone dropped an atom bomb, and i figured i learn of that whether attuned to the outside world or not.
I see everyone in the Christmas spirit. I can't join in I have to many things to get done here in a short amount of time. Maybe New Years will be better. Merry Christmas to everyone. Headed to church in a few minutes.

Here's wishing a VERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS to all this morning!
Too much going on to mention at the moment.
The Spousal Unit is starting to fire up the kitchen as many of the family are coming here for a mid afternoon dinner. Of course, She has given me a "to do list"!
Went to the Newport daughters home for last evening - got sideswiped on the way and messed up the left front pretty good - thankfully - just hurt feelings!
Going to local daughters home for rolls and coffee and whatever in a few minutes.
Purchased the G-son a Lenovo (cheap) chromebook - what the daughter said he needed. I wanted the ASUS model, but none in stock.
On a more pleasant note - looking for a nice 80 degree and sunny day; I do miss the snow around Christmas time, but not the cold that goes with it.
HAVE A GREAT DAY and don't forget what the day is truly about!

Merry Christmas, punched out last night at 12:30 after clearing the roads that drift the worst. The storm is done for us and the wind is down to 25 mph

A bit of downtime before we head out to the daughter’s and SIL’s place. They are directly across the hills and valleys out the south window but can be as little as 2 miles or 3.5 depending on the route we take by road. Just under a mile if we take the horses. No horses today.
Terry and I did our Christmas together and we will enjoy the things received and given. Other then a couple pull overs for warmth around the house, my gifts from Terry are modeling related. She surprised me with a couple items not on my Amazon gift list. She rarely goes into the LHS but she did this year.
Son played Santa after the 2 early masses last night. Oldest grandaughter was his assistant handing out candy canes to the littler kids and at least one old man.
Cooking started at 7:30 with a big batch of cheese mix. Ham is in the oven and the potatoes are peeled and ready to boil. Going to make some cheddar biscuits and brown and serve rolls and corn yet. I got my case of cookies yesterday in time for Christmas. Seem to be fresher than when I'd get them at Mejiers when I'd visit family in Michigan.
Grandson got a new card game he wants me to play with him after dinner. I told him to bring it and we'd figure it out. They also want to play "Exploding Kittens".

Well Bruette if I don't know exactly what I'm doing I watch a lot of videos on the subject, I watched so many on Jet pumps I may come out of retirement and go back to work as a plumper. Pulling up the well line is the toughest part of the job. I thought it was 70ft but it's over 100. I hope it's not the pitiless adapter seal that's causing the problem (2nd photo below). I'll have to start digging tomorrow. I didn't start today because there would be no place open to buy one. I know the brass foot valve is done in, it has a hole in it caused most likely by the acid in the water over 25 years. The brass Y part of the assembly could be done in to, but it doesn't sit in the water so maybe not. I'll see what tomorrow brings?
Had a good time with the grandkids and playing the game called Catan. Both kids, their dad and I had a good couple of hours learning and playing a cool game. Meal was good and I managed to pull it off. Tried to let the Mrs relax as she usually makes the meals. I did let her help cleanup afterwards.
Good Evening All. Just got home. Great to read that almost everyone had a great Christmas. We did as well. I received two shirts from one of my daughters, and a lot of train stuff. Aren't Amazon lists great? I still have one more gift to open from my son. It is probably train related because he shops with Amazon exclusively, since he works for them. It's way past my bedtime so I will go now.
Again to everyone, Merry Christmas. And to all of you from the British Empire, have a great Boxing Day tomorrow.
The real question is how do you pronounce “Catan”? My son and I have an ongoing argument about that.
In other “Catan” news I’ve seen it here in Japan at several stores. I don’t have the game (in any version) but my sister’s family has it and we play when they bring it down. Interesting game.
On my way solo to Osaka to find some suitcases. Just left a little timidem train store in Kobe. I’ve done business with them before by email. They are two floors. Not a lot of square footage. But very packed with stuff. Including lots of spare parts.
i did t look at their H0 floor but they’re N scale floor was fun. They even had a reasonably large selection of US prototypes from KATO and a bunch of new and older Euro stuff from Fleischmann, True/Minitrix, Hobbytrain, and KATO.
I got some more containers — this time some from a more expensive (and better made) company. Also a Tomytec N scale static model of a special livery Hiroshima tram. Tomytec (Tomy, Tomix) makes these so that you can convert them to runnable N-scale. They make a series of power units, replacement pantographs (that you can move up and down instead of being fixed), bogie skirts (so your replacement bogies with the owner pack have the appropriate prototype look), etc. I didn’t buy the conversion parts yet. I’ll post pics when I get back
slightly overcast and at 2pm (Boxing Day) it is about 47F
tomorrow the kids and I will go to Nagasaki and stay the night. Wife is staying with her sister and has an appointment to meet up with some HS friends on Wednesday. I could t guarantee she’d be back for that.
Sherrill: Wow, getting sideswiped, almost a head-on, or am I assuming too much, sounds like you took quick evasive action. Glad you and your wife are okay !
