It would be very nice and helpful, if our respective "Health Authorities", would present current, factual information about Covid, the Fly, and any other infectious disease that could adversely affect us, instead of waiting several months to collect data, before making recommendations. For instance, the Omicron variant. The South African authorities clearly shared their data with all other nations health data, including the fact that 90% of South Africans were not vaccinated, not because of a shortage of vaccine, but because the vast majority chose not to accept the vaccine. The WHO, ran in a different direction, for their own reasons, and the CDC sat on it until they had assembled sufficient data. Meanwhile, the variant is running amuck, and in the absence of authoritative information, the media is running wild with embellished tales, causing people to panic. It would be nice if we could differentiate between delta bad, and omnicron highly contagious but “potentially” less health issues
In my own case, after Thanksgiving, I noticed symptoms of a sinus infection, followed by respiratory distress. This is not unusual, for me, I have this tendency to catch something between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I saw the doctor, on 12/7, and he immediately decided to test me for covid. The "quick test", indicated I was not infected by covid, and further indicated I did not have the Flu. He treated me following the Covid protocol, with antibiotics, Prednisone, and my regular lung meds, cranking up the Trelegy to the hire dosage. A second covid test, sent to the lab, came back negative. Recovery lasted about 10 days, and I still have occasional coughing spells. So, if it wasn't the flu, and wasn't covid, what was it? What caused it? I have had the Moderna shots, and booster, almost always mask when out in public, and use plenty of hand sanitizer. Wife and I only go out when necessary. What else can I do to avoid infection?
Most of the folks in this part of Jersey, are not masking, and the State is begging people to get immunized, and for immunized to get boosters. All the media emphasizes is getting tested, and creates panic by showing the long lines at testing centers in NYC. I firmly believe in testing if I have symptoms, but to run out for a daily test, without a good reason, discourages people who have good reason to be tested to do so.
It is due time, that we started to behave like adults concerning this, and that should start with the CDC, and the media.
