Willie: Hope Arlene is doing ok! As usual, nice photos.
Curt: Nice!
George: Good job. (I had to replace my gutters).
Tom O: Nice!

Without getting rhetorical, It seems that the trickle down effect of Carter's De-regulation, and Reaganomics has finally trickled down to What is happening to Terry. Never thought it would come to that, myself. Guess I was wrong all these years. It sounded good at the time.

Meanwhile, on the home front, the wife and I are dealing with separate ailments since Sunday night. Not likely that it was any variety of the virus, simply because we have not had close contact with anyone, not vaccinated and boosterized. Even the grandchildren have been vaccinated. We also wear masks when ever we venture out in the world. Today was one of those days, where everything I touched tended to go badly. Everything I said, also...even the simple practice of brewing a cup of tea with the Keurig went bad :(.

If the computer store wasn't 90 miles away, I'd go there so fast this place's head would swim. Complicating matters is my wife's and dog's health issues, and I really can't be that far from home for extended times daily. There's an oil change place on the corner that's hiring, I think I'll stop by on the way to work tomorrow, and pick up an application.
Ninety miles... that is a long haul, too far for you, I agree.

When I ran shops I always put my most experienced men on oils changes. Experienced eyes can find things others over look. It was a great sales tool for us and reduced down time for our customers. I never looked at as simply an OLF, I saw it as a preventive maintenance inspection as well, you would be great!

I love America, you can make good money in any job if you are good. My daughter made $10/hour at a busy sub shop when she was a junior in high school, nearly twenty years ago. She started at minimum wage and because she was so productive they quickly raised her pay to get her to take more hours.

Terry you are one of the smartest people I have ever met, you are going to do fine. The problem when you are smart is stupid people don't/can't recognize your intelligence. You need to get free from stupid people.

In all honesty Terry you are one of the smartest people I ever met. That is not redundant, it needed to be said twice.

Good morning Everybody!

Troy, my coffee is great this morning, as always. I'm betting your coffee is great too!

I managed to work eight hours yesterday. Next bright idea, lets go grocery shopping for us and my Mom. Two stores and nearly $400 later I wore myself out!

Another up and down night and today will be a half day at best. Two steps forward, one and a half back. No wonder my recovery is so slow.

It's going to be in the 60s today!
Have a great day Everybody!

My doctor asked me how much coffee do you consume in a day? I told him usually about 4 cups. He said to many. So now I don't have any. I drink 2 cups of green tea a day. Much healthier choice.

Good morning y'all. Carolina weather is being Carolina weather this morning. Yesterday it was high 20s- low 30s at this time, currently it is 48. Today's high is 71. welcome to December in the south.

I will say this of politics, and only this. Red, Blue, Green, Pink with purple polka dots, doesn't matter. All have more in common with a baby's diaper than an actual human being. If you want to know what they stand for, look at where their money comes from. I would say that 90% of all politicians should be hanged for treason. I will now step away from the soap box.

Flo- Coffee and The Usual please. And I would like to treat everyone to a plate of bacon today.

Terry- I agree. They want you to quit so they won't have to offer you unemployment.

Louis- The problem is that the stupid people aren't always readily identifiable. They should be required to wear signs, then we'd know. That one is stupid, better stay away. And as far as coffee goes, mine has been the best it's ever been since going to work for a coffee company. The job perks are nice. Read: coffee tastes better when you don't have to pay for it. 😁

Wife took her car in to find out why it sounded like a diesel yesterday and found out we need to rebuild the engine. It's a 2012 GMC Terrain with the 2.4 in it. Piston rings have failed and are allowing oil to pass by and burn off, which has lead to failure of the timing chain components that keep it tight. They said we could just do the timing chain, but the last one they did lasted 1,000 miles before the bottom end grenaded. Timing chain: $2,600. Engine: $7,600. Trade in value: $1,000. This has only furthered my disdain for GM and most modern vehicles in general. GM knows about the piss-poor rings, but it is cheaper to keep building the engines than to correct the issue. I am now considering taking the gearhead approach and trying to build a forged bottom end and slap a turbo or supercharger on it. She is going to baby it until I get home and can move the car seat over to my Ram. She'll be driving the Goat until I get hers repaired. Thankfully I have a company vehicle now and my truck is just sitting in the yard anyway.

On a more positive note, I found a hobby shop yesterday that would get me in trouble if I were local to the area. They have a good selection of new, and used, trains, buildings and accessories. Scored 31 vehicles for less than $25. Most will be background scenery or junk heap fodder, as they aren't highly detailed, but I did get a few nice ones. The only issue is they are a tad larger than the rest. If I use them, I'll have to put them in the foreground away from everything else to add depth to the layout. Pics below.

261682981_950180355608200_3499270023739434556_n.jpg Here's the size comparison. They appear to be somewhere between N and HO. They are from Racing Champions, but that's all I know about them. The rest are cheap mass production models, and two are only shells without real wheels or interiors. Those two are for sure getting crushed.

Y'all have a blessed day. I have to get ready to head out so I can try to make 2 days worth of deliveries in 1 so I can head home early. Being close-ish to home at the last stop yesterday allowed for the opportunity to see the family for dinner. If I can wrap up today and get everything covered I should be able to head home by lunch time tomorrow. Which will make everyone happy.

Good morning. It's clear and 37.
I think I can comment on the other thing that has occurred without delving into religion.
Yesterday afternoon, one of the people from the new company informed our service manager he needed to stop playing "seasonal" music where it is audible to customers, because it might offend someone.

From The MRLRSoc. today on the eastern slopes of Bozeman Pass again. An empty BNSF coal train returning east with it's 'on train' pushers in the lead position. A couple of venerable GE CW-44W's, #4096 on point and #777 behind on Monday just gone

A side-on as they left Bozeman

Here's a closeup of triple 7, cause being the oldest and still in it's warbonnet, was maybe the most interesting. This is just passing Trail Creek crossing

A little bit of history gleaned from rrpicturearchives.net.
#777 was built 9/1997, order#1879. It was still in primer when it did it's first jobs. But here it is leading 3 others, looking spickledee span on 7/10/98 at the head of what looks like an intermodal trailer train.

#4096 was built 6/2003, order #1960 and the earliest pic recorded on that site is on 2/17/04. A little fuzzy but definitely cleaner.

Both of these represent my favorite BNSF liveries. Good to see them still working for their livings.

With tongue planted firmly in cheek:

Well, not everyone cares for that song from Mariah Carey...

Personally, I consider any music filled with 4 letter invectives many times more offensive than any "seasonal" music could ever be.
I’m by no means any kind of a prude. In a past life I was a sailor, and count many Marines among my friends. We’ve taken cursing to an art form, I just don’t want to listen to it on the radio.

We've been listening to "seasonal" music since the day before Thanksgiving in all the public areas of the dealership. Sooo much better than music we have to listen to the rest of the year.

Nice score on the little cars, the red vette in the front row looks like a Monogram Miniexact from a few years back. Love the tow trucks!

Sorry to hear about the problems with the Terrain. We usually don't replace the whole engine when the rings fail, just new rings, pistons and timing chains. A lot cheaper than replacing the whole engine. Google GM special policy 16118 for parts list. I'm betting you are out of the policy's parameters, but the info may be useful.

Morning all,

Currently 42° and clear this morning in Doo-Dah. Going for a record breaking high of 77°. Old record set in 2012 of 69°. Weather dudes saying most of Kansas will break\tie records for the date.

On the seasonal music debate, I can tolerate most of the songs with one exception , "Last Christmas" by any artist. Mostly it seems they sing about being stupid last year and this year they're going to change, and then sing the song again next year. It cheeses off the Mrs. when we're driving as I tend to turn off the radio when I hear that song start.

On the railroad side of life, I sold off my passenger cars as they were just too big for what space I have (or don't have). I figured I can still do a passenger station as the passengers would be at the station between trains.

The wife drives a 2016 Equinox with the same 2.4L engine and at 74,000 miles so far no major issues. Had to change one of the camshaft actuator solenoids a couple weeks ago, but running fine since. I have a warranty that's good for about another 50,000 miles or 2 years. I change dthe part myself as it was just about $60 and I have a $100 deductible on the warrantee.

Good morning. Another night of absolutely no sleep. The only other times this has occurred has been after surgeries and trying to sleep at home. This is now 2 of the last 3 nights with no sleep and with the other night about 4 hours. No naps being taken, so somehow I need some sleep.

Terry, don’t let those a—h—es get to you. Leave on your terms not theirs. I never understood why employers work like this. Heck, McDonalds here is hiring at $16.00 an hour with no experience but 31 hours maximum

Enjoy your day
