I put my pair of BLI SW1500s on the track, and put my pair of track cleaning cars behind them. After about 15 minutes, one of the SW1500s went up in smoke. I had a spare decoder for it, so I installed that. It also went up in smoke. I'll be calling BLI tomorrow.
Again rethinking continuing to own ANY BLI product...

Oh be still my heart! On a nice day I can be in Frederick county in 20 minutes! :(

The smart-alecs on Facebook are at it again!

It ain't coming. ITS HERE!!

At 10:30 AM it is 17 degrees and Sunny. I've been out shovelling for the last hour. I still have a heap 5' high and 10'wide between me and the road (mainly from the Town plow) I will say the Town has done a fantastic job of cleaning the street (they always do). Then I have to dig out my truck. So it looks like most of today will be shovelling. The TV stations are reporting that we got 35" in Frederick County. Just west of us in Shepardstown WV they reported 39" so I will agree that we are in that range

Temps up to 25°. The ruler said 22" on the driveway, much more where it drifted. In any event, we have the front porch and driveway cleared as well as last nights plowing. Newark Airport (EWR ) recorded 28". I need a larger snow thrower if I stay here, in Jersey. And... I'm getting too old for this...

By 'up in smoke' you don't mean literal SMOKE do you??? My BLI 2-10-2 has had the 'hiccups' lately, it seems to occasionally 'forget' who it is! I don't need any little mushroom clouds down here! I'm kinda glad my loco buying days are done or at least slowed down, I've got my bases covered pretty good with a variety of motive power. IF they keep running...

Yup. the "magic smoke" was ejected.

Wow. You must have BLI on speed dial. Not for nothing, Terry, they market a beautiful detailed locomotive, but the electronics and mechanics that make them run is hit or miss. For the price BLI asks, I would expect better.

Shoot for that kind of jack, I want house-calls if needed - never minding the fact I should never it.
Just my humble opinion.

They send me any part for them I ask for.
This SW1500 is going back for repair. I'm not messing around with it.

By golly! I think I'll grab a beer and go run trains a while!!!!!
Hopefully none take a tumble or go poof.
Not likely really.

Not likely they will? Or not likely they won't?

How ever you want to word it... They ain't falling off. Plenty of scenery now to stop anything from going completely over the board.

But that enthusiasm didn't last long. All I did was move 2 trains enough to vacuum up Styrofoam shavings from the last time I pharted around with that stuff.

Yeah but let's go back to my first episode here. That loco had sustained damage. My bluebox lost a coupler and that's it. But I know my problem side now. I've been waiting for it to show up.

Justin - If they both jumped at the same spot, then fix that spot before you ballast it over. A fence will only keep them from hitting the floor, it won't fix the original problem. Ideally a fence is only insurance.

A late good morning. Hope those effected by the east coast storm made it through in good shape and are getting dug out.

We did find our lost snowmobiler yesterday. I am very familiar with the area that he got lost in and that's why I got the call to help yesterday. We flew (for Eric, in a Cessna 172) over the normal trails and area that the Forest Service maintains for snowmobiles and found nothing out of the ordinary. I started thinking about areas that are not maintained and are off the beaten path in the National Forest and after about a half an hour we did find him. He buried his sled in a drift under some trees and couldn't get out. We gave him a wing wiggle and the deputy that was riding with me radioed the search and rescue people and we loitered around moving them to the stranded snowmobiler.

Knowing that area in both the winter and summer, I am betting that they will have to wait until the snow melts and haul the sled out at a later date. Probably will have to trailer it out with a four wheeler. Search and rescue people said that the snow in that area was about 16 feet deep and even with all of their help couldn't pull the sled out onto solid snow.

It was an interesting day.

Now I have to go through the posts and try to catch up with what's going on. Have a good one.

As much as I wish it was one spot. The SD40 ate it at my cross over. The GP40 coming out of the tunnel.

Chet - glad you found him. Are snowmobilers advised to carry some kind of beacon with them when out there? It would seem to make it easier to find them in an emergency.

Good job Chet!!!
The 172 was the last plain I ever sat in the front seat of and operated.
That was circa 1980 or 81.
