Karl I hate to be rude but this is the view that I have today.
As much as I love my trains today is the day to be a dad and get the little one outside for some snow fun.

Poor guy...
Finally making some noise! 5 loco's at once pulling a combined total of 64 including "B" units and tenders on 5 separate lines got a wee bit LOUD even with all the sound off! Not anywhere near enough to disturb the upstairs but Mongo was impressed! All were happily doing laps and then three decided to have uncouplings at the same instant! Wha-oh-SH-no HIT the power, never mind the emergency stop, KILL IT! ARRRG! What a mess!
FREAKIN BRRR!!!! Except for being completely out of bread, I could have waited to go to the store tomorrow had I realized the wind really is as bad as they say.
Cold doesn't really bother me. With the inner-liner zipped in, my parka is rated for -20. Today I didn't have the liner in and was about to break a sweat on the way back. My USAF issued one, compliments of a friend stationed in Anchorage, is rated at -40. Not likely I'll be testing their limits ever here in the state of GA.
If it ever gets close to 10° (which it does once in a while), that's mighty rare for here. N. GA mountains is probably a different story.
The road are completely clear though even thought it's barely above freezing. Except for in the shade the snow is almost gone as well. I imagine the winds are seeing to that. I know some gusts were sure pushing me around easy enough.

say MATT. As the commercial says, "did you fine your beach yet"? That one doesn't look like the sand is white!
Well they are now calling for 40+ inches here in Frederick County, MD. The Baltimore NBC station (WBAL) says the storm has stalled off Ocean City and is dumping snow over Central MD (The northwest side of the storm) I think we had 30+ inches a couple hours ago so we are probably already at 36".
Wish I could say something to help. I honestly can't imagine what it would be like to get that much snow in one shot! I've worked outside during some bad winters but, other than extreme cold, nothing comes close to approaching what most people in the east are experiencing. The biggest single snowfall I've been through was 25" and back in the late 70's we had substantial accumulations but they were the result of fairly large snowfalls. Stay warm and safe!
I really wish ballasting my track would be a little easier. It has been a disaster from the start. I need to figure out something here. This is my second effort with roadbed and its just a pain.

Oh be still my heart! On a nice day I can be in Frederick county in 20 minutes!
The smart-alecs on Facebook are at it again!

What seems to be the problem CS3 ?

Well when I apply my glue to the ballast it pushes it off of the roadbed. I can't correct it because of the glue. It is very frustrating to say the least.

Ok...so what are you using for ballast and what type of glue?
and are you hitting the ballast with "wet" water before applying the glue? And how are you applying it and your glue?
Have you lightly misted the ballast with "wet" water before applying the glue mixture? If you're using Woodland Scenics ballast, it is very
easily disturbed if you put too much glue mixture on at once. Using an eye dropper to put a SMALL amount of glue mixture on at a time will help to keep from washing the ballast away.
Guess I'm just a little slow typing on a virtual keyboard on my Kindle.

I got a rechargeable bluetooth keyboard for my wife to use with her kindle. She says it really helps, rather than using the onscreen keyboard.

I was just chatting with Jason, the Rapido Trains guy. He says he bought a real RDC, and is planning to get it running. From the pictures, it looks like it's in pretty good shape. I'll see if I can post a picture or two of it.

I'm using the woodland scenics glue. And I now know I've been doing it all wrong. Great times as I haven't been wetting it first.
