Looking good guys! I put the Shark on the program track and ran thru the set the address hoops and it responded ok, put it on the track and away it went no problem! Got excited and took the 'high road' at step '110' and took a 3 1/2 inch dive off the curve onto the table! (crappy track work!) No damage and it still runs fine, don't know what the deal was when it would not respond. Glad no surgery was needed!
So to make up for my mishap with my uboat I forgot I actually have one in one area. I'm not sure if y'all remember my project I started about a year ago. Something that predates my layout build. I have a pair of new in the box BB SD40s. The sisters 7612 and 7614. I haven't posted any updates on 7612 so I'll do a before and after for her. She can run my layout as is I'm just not finished with her as of yet. She'll get number boards added among some other things.
I used model flex IC orange for the orange for the handrails which matched up really well. Supposedly UP armor yellow is the BB yellow equivalent. I'm afraid to try it on any of my units.
It was my own dang fault on the header off the 'high-line' I was so happy it was not broken I darn near broke it! LOL! I said 'ok' it runs and kicked it up near max speed and it RAN! I was standing there all proud and happy when "CLUNK!", it dove right off the curve, "oops!", LOL! It's not even scratched! WHEW!

Last month there was a letter in the MR magazine about matching colors. The expert said don't worry if they don't seem to be "exact" matches, as even locomotives coming out of the shop brand new would exhibit some color variations.

Saw that at a place I worked that made machines that washed parts after milling and 'last years' 'safety red' did not match this years 'safety red', same # and supplier and everything but it was NOT the 'same' color! The guy running the paint booth was HOPPING mad! My job was re-assembly after painting and got to hear him SQUALK all day every day for a week till we got the 'right' paint!
Thanks for the coffee and the link.
I'd be lost without this forum.
NO, I will NOT mention our cold weather here in mid-Fla. Just because my body reacts to below 65* in a very negative way doesn't mean I should complain.
Chet- Another helava photo. As to locos with sound, I agree. Becomes a distraction after a few minutes.
I run a mixture of locos on my layout. None of them really have the same paint on them. They all have a different shade to them. I did let 7612 get a few laps around the layout today. The motor is hitting the shell. I'll have to get that one figured out. All of my blueboxes are doing it.
Interesting detail about your Dad! We saw a program about Walt Disney recently and he built (or had one of his engineers build) a similar locomotive. In fact, his entire theme park idea ( Disney Land ) started with his model railroad passion.
There is a live steam loco that I sort of grew up with.
It's back in operation in the town where it started in 1959. http://littletootrailroad.com/
I remember train rides vividly.

Good morning shop dwellers!
Its 57 degrees this morning .. with an overcast sky. Looking at the radar picture of So Cal this morning .. I should be drowning; however still there is no rain??? We need a few real frog chokers.
CHET Is that auto parked in front of the hardware store a Packard? You do have quite an extensive collection of autos.
TOOT Sorry about the treads on the crawler. Maybe you could get something from Jordan Products that would work off of the crane that they have.
Chessie Sorry about the screwup on the paint!
Garry When I was a youngen .. guy at the state fair had a live steam Hudson that I rode behind as long as my parents would let me stay. It was a beautiful locomotive!

The problem is, the motor mount pads shrink with age, and sometimes just don't "set" even. You can get a pair of new mounting pads, with the screws that tighten from underneath, and replace the old white mounts.
Good morning, America! Barely! I went with my wife to watch our newest granddaughter today. Right now I've got my Kindle on my right side and Hannah on my left in the rocker. She was six months old yesterday will be ready for college in a week or so. At least it seems that way........she's growing up FAST!
