The clot is in the upper chamber of his heart.
Part of the problem seems to be my brother's blood is very thick, and is causing flow problems by itself.

Louis- Kept my shirt on. Only did two bags and quit. Breezy. Area I've done the last two days, covered again. I echo Curt's comment," I HATE OAK TREES".
Until the summer when its shade is welcome. Gads, a love / hate story.
I'll try again. My first attempt just went *poof*...
Reader's Digest version so far today is, my nephew has decided he needs to take over and has started ordering everybody around. Both my wife and I, as well as the hospital staff. More later.
Now, my nephew is just blowing air, as I am legal health care surrogate as well as durable power of attorney.
I have already instructed the hospital staff that if my nephew causes problems, they can throw him out of the hospital. Since my brother's room is on the 5th floor, they can consider a parachute optional.
I don't shovel myself either. There's no seat on a shovel. The whiskey is what I call "John Wayne Therapy. If someone had a fever, or got shot, what did John say, ---"give him some whiskey".
The trip to VA was a breeze today. From when I walked in until I left was 15 mins. I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience at our VA. Afterwards I stopped at the hobby store I don't like only because it's only 15 minutes from the VA. I didn't find anything I couldn't live without. After getting home I did my laundry. MOH said she enjoyed her day doing quilting in her seminars but said initially it was unorganized.
BigE- Good info-thanks. I feel it is better to know than not know.
...
I heard on the radio a while ago that they are having "thunder sleet" in NW Alabama.
That's a new on me.
I have actually heard "thunder snow" with my own ears.
Never even heard of "thunder sleet" though. That's a new one.
Yesterday was pretty awesome. High around 73.
I shut all the heaters off about this time yesterday morning and only just now turned them back on.
Thunder Sleet is not that uncommon during a winter storm. It's due to the updrafts formed sometimes, like in the formation of a summer thunderstorm, only that in winter, it doesn't take as much for these updrafts to form. These are called convective storms and like during a summer thunderstorm they also make the precipitation heavier. Some areas around them have gotten 2-3" of just sleet in less than any hour. We went from a high yesterday of 75 to our current temp of 24, with it expected to go to the lower teens by morning time. It could have been a lot worse here, however this morning the freeze line seemed to stop just north of B'ham and was stationary for over 2 hours. The expected freezing rain and sleet didn't materialize here until almost 1pm. By 4 it was over. We even have some good snow bursts during it, but nothing has stuck. With the roads as wet as they are they will ice over tonight, and in the morning for folks trying to get to work, it will be a nightmare.

I think Terry is dealing with his nephew from a much stronger position than Jeffrey was with his nephew - at least until his Dad finally stepped up to the plate!
Terry, I'll continue praying for your brother's recovery.

Thanks.
My nephew has been outmanuevered and outgunned, let's see if he is smart enough to quit before he digs himself a deeper hole.
Two years ago, he lost his mother, so I know he is in turmoil right now. I hope he realizes the people in charge of his father's care know what they are about.

Terry, your family doesn't need any turmoil, your brothers condition is serious enough. Hopefully your nephew will calm down. Hope your brother's treatment is working.
On the snow front, we did get 7"+ today. My snow thrower broke another belt, so the wife and I dug out the driveway and walk the old fashioned way, using a snow shovel and a genuine Conrail issue crib shovel. The plow came through later in the evening, so we will have to open up what was plowed back in, come morning.
It's 19°, right now, 20 degrees colder than it was this time last night. Looking forward to a week of seasonal temperatures and sunny says, starting Saturday.
Watched the Caps blow the lead in the third period, and lose to Minnesota, earlier this evening.
