Good morning everybody

32 with cloudy skies in southeast Baltimore, no snow yet, but they keep saying it is coming and the winds are blowing cold.

Keep your faith strong, in what ever you believe in and have a great day everybody.

Louis, Ihad a blood clot in my leg several years ago. They ended up installing a filter in my kidney--through my groin. Fun it was not...

42 and rain here this morning. 100% of "heavy rain" is what weatherchannel.com is saying.
Guess I better head to the beer store early unless I want to get serious wet.
I heard on the radio a while ago that they are having "thunder sleet" in NW Alabama.
That's a new on me.
I have actually heard "thunder snow" with my own ears.
Never even heard of "thunder sleet" though. That's a new one.

Yesterday was pretty awesome. High around 73.
I shut all the heaters off about this time yesterday morning and only just now turned them back on.

Terry my friend, to say that was not fun is an understatement of titanic proportions!

21 degrees and clear this morning.

Terry - hope your brother did good through the night and is improving.

Top of the morning y'all! :D

Lou, its coming....left for work this morning, got a mile from the house and said forget it. between the layer of sleet, and snow on top of it, and an unplowed, unsalted road I got turned around and headed home. It ain't worth putting the car in a ditch, and its only gonna get worse as the day goes on. So I called work, told em I'd see ya tomorrow, and headed home. SWMBO is home too. Her boss doesn't want her at the office, told her yesterday to stay home and link in to her desk computer periodically today for updates.

Terry, Sorry to hear of your brothers plight. You both are in our thoughts & prayers.

Gotta knock out a couple of the GM training courses, then I have the rest of the day for myself......"♪♪ let is snow, let it snow♪♪♪

Smart move Karl, nobody can drive on ice. The better part of valor is discretion.

It's snowing in southeast Baltimore now.

Good morning. It's raining heavily and 50 degrees.

Good morning back at you, Terry, Louis, Chet, Karl, E, and the rest...we have -15 (thats 15 below). hopefully the last cold day. It is supposed to be in the mid 40's by the middle of next week.

Good Morning All. 32°, and snowing. The latest prediction is 3" to 7", which is down from yesterday's guess. In my opinion, there is already too much on the ground. This snow is of the heavy wet variety. According to an advance forecast, the next six days are supposed to be sunny with seasonal temperatures.

Is it too early to mention that Daylight Time starts again this coming Sunday? Spring ahead .

Tons of snow here. I herd the Interstate highway was closed.

I prefer to spend the day indoors working on the model railroad, but I will instead be inside working on income taxes. Sigh ....

Good morning folks.

It's our last cold day for the next ten days. It's -3 right now with a high of 16. I guess by next week it's suppose to hit 50! That is somewhat unusual but I'll take it. I know we're not out of the woods yet but we're close.

Terry, I hope everything turns out okay for your brother.

I've been working on painting my Merchant's row kit. I forgot how much I don't like painting buildings that are cast as one piece. Oh well, modeling time per dollar! I'm thinking about finally hooking up my dcc system one of these days. I have just dc running right now but have the decoder and sound unit for one of my steamers. I'm thinking I may start with just reinstalling the crappy dual decoder that I pulled from my Bachmann consolidation to start with. That way I can make sure I have the NCE system working correctly without adding in whether I installed the speaker and decoder correctly in the Berkshire at the same time.

I'm dragging my feet while waiting to get ready for work. It's fun to work long days if the sales are there. When it's slower it feels like the day just drags.

Have a good day everyone.

Terry- Hope your Brother had a good night. We're all pulling for him.

Temp. now at 82. Grabbing lite lunch, taking off shirt and raking up those oak leaves. THEN, TRAIN TIME...

Phil

No leaves to rake here Phil, but about 3 inches of snow to shovel with more coming down and no I won't be taking off my shirt!

5 hours into our snow event, just got done plowing the driveway,,,,SWMBO reports 5 inches on the front walk, 5 more hours to go before it stops,,,oh joy!

Warfarin vs. heparin and some info for Terry.
I tried to call my Dad last night about the difference (Dad has PhD in Pharmacology).
Unfortunately, he was out assisting the local coroner on a VERY rare murder in my old home town. In fact I know of none.

Anyway we talked just a while ago. Warfarin is super aggressive in its thinning abilities and blood tests are generally needed at least twice a day in someone in Terry's brother's condition and dosages needs constant changing. I remember that from when I was a registered Rx apprentice under my Dad. Heparin is the preferred blood thinner these days. It's much more forgiving as far as dosing goes.

Terry: you said the other night the blood clot was in his heart. I was shocked to hear that and so was Dad when I told him. We both agreed that the only way for a clot to get TO the heart is to come from some where else - like the legs as you mentioned. Between the extremities and heart things go through the lungs first to load up on oxygen. Most clots like that stop in the lungs and the person ends up in a pulmonary arrest before the heart gets a chance to arrest.
From the bottom of my heart [ no pun intended at all] I honestly hope he is doing better today. From the discussion with Dad he's mighty dam lucky to be alive right now. VERY few people survive clots going through the lungs and even fewer in the heart.
As to the kidneys shutting down, we also agree the fluids should get that kick-started if it didn't go too far. I told him about the dehydration.

I honestly didn't want to share that. But, I figure it may help someone else out in the future should they come into a similar situation.
I pray your forgiveness if I've over stepped any bounds or been too callous.

E.
