Good morning everybody!

32 with cloudy skies in southeast Baltimore

Bob, thank you for your service to our nations power supplies. Knowing men like yourself are on the job gives me even more confidence in our nuclear energy.

Great photo 113, thank you!

Have a great day everybody!

Good morning gang, I see Louis has provided a weather update for this area [thank you Louis].

B-Bob, I guess with the kind of weather that has afflicted the country, guys like yourself aren't getting much time with your families - hope that situation improves.

MILW - I wanted to find a photo of a B&O SD7/9 to answer the one you posted of the ATSF SD24's - but there were none to be found that I haven't already posted.

. . .

Well I've done it, no turning back now! I let my friend Keith talk me into giving a clinic at the next meeting of our regional club, on using sea sponges to paint tree clusters on background surfaces. I usually dread public speaking, but since this doesn't require expert references I can probably handle it. It's more of a 'doing' than talking presentation anyhow. I've got 5 more days to prep for it.

Later yall!

Good Morning,

19 below this morning with arctic sun. Beginning to be a broken record. Looks like there will be some time to check out railroad stuff today.

Good morning everyone. It looks like I am in the right place to be looking at the temps posted here this morning. 60 degrees here in Daytona Beach this morning. It was a bit chilly down here last week but things finally warmed up.

With all of the race activities going on last weekend I really didn't have time to get in here, but did see quite a number of postings on Taptalk. Today is an open day for me so I will probably check out some hobby shops again and relax. We'll br leaving to return home tomorrow so I guess we had better enjoy the warm weather. My son and his wife are dog sitting back home and he said that the warm weather we had is gone and the night time temps have been dropping below zero.

Time to check out recent posts before we go out for the day.

Good morning folks.

It's sunny and cold again. At least it's sunny. Once the warm up begins in march you can get quite a few cloudy days in a row. The only consolation is that the snow is melting!

I replanted most of my trees yesterday on the layout. It's nice seeing sections starting to look like before I moved the layout. I also had to repair some damage to the corn that went unnoticed before. I couldn't figure out why there were small sections where the corn was laying over. My first thought was aliens! Then I remembered that one of the times I tried letting the kittens in the layout room, one of them walked that way while I was looking the other way. She must have walked in the corn. Oh well, I bent each stalk back up with a tweezers. Good as new! I've also begun figuring out the layout of my buildings since I added six inches of depth to the city of Mankato. So many decisions!

We are still running the sale at work. I don't work until noon but I think I'll go in early. It's amazing how being paid straight commission will motivate a person. I've been on salary for the past fifteen years so it's quite the change.

That's all I know for now.
Have a good day everyone.

Back at the motel and ready to go to sleep. Louis, thanks for the complement but I do this job because it pays good. It isn't quite the same as someone serving their country, but I do appreciate the thought. Ken, a lot of us follow the "nuke circuit", going from one plant to another as different plants shut down to move old fuel out of the reactor and put new in. They also do maintenance on the rest of the plant. We had close to 2400 contract employees at this outage, both union tradesmen and non union workers of many different skills from all over the country. It really gives an area an economic shot in the arm when the outage shutdown comes around. Gotta get off of here and get to sleep!

A couple parting photos for the day and see you tomorrow--

This photo is taken not far from where I live now. (above)

The second one shows bundles of wood shingles like ones I used on my house. Some things don't change. The piles of slabs are interesting. This area is now in the middle of Minneapolis, I believe.

Evening All,

Today we went grocery shopping first thing , then to Lowes to pick up lumber for the shelving unit. We used 2x4's for framing and particle board for the shelves. Overall dimensions are 6 x 12 x 2. The first vertical side seemed to take forever, but after that it went quickly. My son helped us today. We got about 3/4 of the garage cleaned and the rest will have to wait until another shelving unit is made for the other side of the garage. It was 80 F today and I noticed after I showered that I had some sun exposure on my cheeks!

After doing that I was pretty stiff from all the kneeling and bending over so I never made it into the train room to check out the loco weathering job.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Had an interesting pop-under come up today after I had been on my local Honda forum and Photobucket at the same time, pasting one of my pics to the forum. Closed both sites together and here it is, lurking behind (I have Ad blocker installed and seems to be working well otherwise). It's a gambling site, just recently approved in Aus. It's got a copy of a newspaper story about a young fellow in Sydney, whose just lost his job, $9300 in debt on his CC and then his girlfriend of 4 years dumps him 'cause in her words "he wasn't going anywhere, nice guy, but no "go" in him" So, a bit later and still being turned down by the GF, he gets this internet offer of $30 to bet with, plays the slots and soon he's won 14 free spins. Next thing he knows, he's struck a big jackpot, $362+K. Life changer. Now he can really get ahead. GF sees the story with his picture in her local paper the next day and has a change of heart and starts calling and texting etc etc, how much she misses him and wishes they could be together blah, blah. Anyway, as of date, he's still single and playing the field.

Nice story, but where did the GF see the news story (she also lived in Sydney). Why, in her local Toronto newspaper of course.

Morning everyone. 61 and cloudy this morning in Daytona. Wheels up in a few minutes heading back home where I understand the temperature is in the mid teens.

Good Morning,

It is 21 above, a full 40 degrees warmer than yesterday at this time. Feels like summer!

DAVID that is an interesting box car, something I have not seen even with all my ebay shopping!

It's 29 and the wintry mix has quit coming down.
I was up around 0500 when it started to rain/freezing rain/sleet.
Ate a little breakfast and laid back down.
Got up around 30 minutes ago and it seems the stuff actually stuck this time.
Nothing much really. The roads are fine.
Of course all the schools are closed.
It's suppose to all be melted around noon or so.
But now they are saying we may get some more tomorrow.
I can't really see how it can be a big deal.

Good morning. It's 23 and snowing.
I got hit by the flu bus over the weekend. I came in to work today, but I wish I hadn't. It was a fun-filled slidefest getting in, with cars littering every ditch. Our highway department got caught with their pants down, and had no one to plow or salt the roads.
I think I should have stood in bed...
