Good morning everybody!

40 with light rain falling in southeast Baltimore.

It's amazing how warm 40 feels after the single digit temperatures.

Have a great day everybody!

Good morning. 45° and raining. Going to 54° with an all day rain. Lots of hockey and college basketball to watch so it won't be all that bad. The Caps looked bad last night.

Enjoy!

Good morning..... Still working on income taxes. ...... Yuk.

Below is a photo I also put in Weekly Photo Fun.

Any NP fans out there?

Boris, the Capitals had a rough night, but the Wizards have won 2 in a row!

Garry I am not a big fan of the NP but you have to love those old diesels hauling coal, great picture, thanks for posting it.

Heck I like them all
Partial to FEC as I was able, years ago, to get into the yard and climb up the tower, with permission, and get pictures .
Next RR partial to is GN. Like the goat. Then I also like ACL. SBD. NW. Oh Heck, don't dislike any of them.
Please keep posting pictures .Love 'em.
Phil

Fan of all US railroads, particularly before '76, don't dislike anyone, never have, they all have an interesting and colourful history....but my favourites are (which I've mentioned before, I think), Milwaukee Road, Norfolk & Western, Delaware & Hudson, Lehigh Valley, Reading, Gulf, Mobile & Ohio, New York, New Haven & Hartford and Western Maryland....I also have soft spot for Southern Pacific, Great Northern and Northern Pacific....can't beat mountain railroading!

Good morning, and that is a big ten four on the NP!

We hit a record high of 58 yesterday and going up there again today, last year we had no spring in northern MN, went from winter (which lasted until May 25) straight to summer.

This year, it is spring on March 11!! Just a couple piles of snow here and there also. If this is climate change, bring it on

Hi Garry, Ya, working on taxes is not a lot of fun, indeed.

Yes I like the NP Northern Pacific as well as many of the others. They all have some interesting things about them!

Oddly enough your picture didn't show up in this section but does when I forward it?

Hope your day runs smoothly with no abrupt rail changes.

Garry, I told you a couple weekends ago to file an extension and go play trains! :-)

I busted out some serious work today. I did a lot of timings on my engines to match up speeds best I could to run a consist.
Did some CV adjustments here and there and have them all within a few seconds on 10 lap runs at full speed (step 28 - the least common denominator).
After a few hours of that, I'm looking for something else to do. I've been eyeballing my NCE USB interface and decided to mount the card. I don't have a computer to hook up to it - yet - otherwise I'd still be up there playing. That was easy enough so I put eyeballs on my auto-program track switch circuit. That took a bit of rewiring here and there but after an hour or so I got that all done successfully.
Took a little break and decided to setup a new consist from scratch with the engines now all set wit their new CV settings.
Everything worked great - right up until I hit the cross-over and stuff wants to come off the rails and short circuit everything. Now I'm getting madder and madder so I go outside to get away. My neighbor is coming back from the beer store and whining about how his boys messed up laying carpet last night so I went to have a look. Sure enough, it was plenty messed up but they had a plan how to fix it but didn't know how to lay carpet. I have lots of experience and needing a break from trains I jumped in. Didn't take long at all even without the proper tools. I took care of the living room and hallway and had all tucked and trimmed pretty fast for not having the right stuff or having done this kind of work in at least 20 years. More like 25.

Been up since around 0600 and no naps today so I'll likely crash out early tonight.

Hey maybe I need you to come over and redo my carpet! (That is when I get some new carpet!)

Was planning to go to the train show at the Cobb Galleria today, but a BAD headache woke me at 0200, and here it is 1825, and I still have it. BP & pulse OK, but it just isn't responding to regular headache meds. Hope it goes away soon.

It's supposed to on again tomorrow, but I have a feeling the headache will still be with me. I don't get these often, but when I do, they stay with me a couple of days. As in the past, just gotta let it run it's course. At least I'm not nauseous with it, yet!

Repaired two of a friends Tower55 diesels. The diesels had those little bitty gears on the top of the geartowers, and we got replacements from NWSL, and as usual, they were perfect fits. The repairs took maybe 10 minutes. Three of the gears on the locos had split. We have a replacement for the last geartower if it happens again.

I sure do wish that it stops raining here soon. It has rained here for almost 2 weeks. We've had 2 days of sun since the first of March. I have several locomotives that I need to finish and get back to their owners, but even with 3 moisture traps on my setup, I still don't trust it enough to finish these models in this weather. Its been a very wet winter here and hopefully it will dry out enough to finish the models. I never paint when there is rain, the threat of rain, or days that are extremely humid. If you've ever had a blast of water come out of the end of an airbrush and ruin a paint job, you'll understand my frustration. I haven't had a problem of water in the line in over 20 yrs, and I don't intend for it to happen here.

Good evening. It's clearing and 56.
Spent the day trying to wrestle my brother's house into submission, with some significant obstruction from a family member. At least I can see the floor now, and the carpets need cleaning... My truck is supposed to be back from the body shop around the middle of next week. For someone used to driving something bigger than 90% of the other stuff on the road, driving the rental car is somewhat unnerving.

Kind of like driving a stick shift for nearly 30 years and then get an automatic. Even after months I was still trying to clutch it and grab the stick to downshift when braking.

I did that--once. Shifted the transmission into Park instead of second (three on the tree). It was exciting, and noisy, until the parking pawl disintegrated.

Isn't that what happens when you put it in "R" for 'RACE' ???

Phil

And the "D" stands for "Drag".

P for pass?

I hope none of you guys ever ask to borrow one of my vehicles and I worry because my reaction times are slower then they use to be?!

That is cool 113! I saw on eBay a few months ago a B&O police badge.

I would be interested to read a book about railroad police. I am curious to know how they worked and did they work together, things like that.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.
