Thumbing through the The Official Pullman-standard Library Vol. 4 Pennsylvania Railroad and in it is something about 'Pennsy's east west Blue Ribbon Fleet mentioned, what is that?

That would probably be a reference to the PRR name trains that went from the east coast to Chicago.

Picked this up today
Oriental brass, factory painted with DCC and sound.

Yes, working the white elephant table has its perk. Scored this for $275.00

Yeah, I kinda stole it!!

That wasn't you William! That was a friend of Jimmy's, Billy, who is an N-scaler and talks worse than you. I met him once and he makes you look like a deaf-mute!

TOOT- Do the names Ray Hanna and Flying Officer Cobber Kain,DFC , mean anything to you?

Flip

Can recall F.O. Cobber Kain's name from a long time ago, but not Ray Hanna. (had to Google both). One of my earliest memories of flying experts was at a post WW2 airshow at an RNZAF airbase to the south of Auckland where I lived, about '47 or '48 I think, which would make me 9-10. The big attraction was the appearance of the first jet fighter to be seen down under. This was a Gloster Meteor twin engine plane with a high set tailplane.
Vaguely remember the usual flypasts and aerobatics and then as a finale (I remember the big crowd all rushing to line the airstrip on either side). My parents must have hung back 'cause I can remember we were standing back a distance. The jet approached from my left and as he dropped out of the sky, the pilot rolled it over on it's back and flew along the length of the runway upside down. What is fixed in my memory is the sight as he passed of the tip of the tail being below the heads of the crowd at the runway's edge. Now given me being shorter, he must have still been damn close to the deck.

Anyway, only a about a year ago I picked up an aircraft magazine in which their was an article about an Aussie who had died in '13 by the name of Tony Gaze. He had been the first Aussie pilot to have shot down an enemy plane in combat in WW2, flying with Douglas Bader's Tangmere Wing and also the first to fly one of these jets in combat in the last months of the war. It also said that after the war he came out to Australia to demonstrate the Meteor fighter to the Govt as well as airshows. No mention of any visit to NZ though. I don't recall any other of this particular type ever performing, so I think there's a very good chance it was him. He went on to motor racing and is also the first Aussie to race in a Formula 1 GP.

His family owned shoe factories.

Oh Really Eric. Is that how you see me? William.

No. Carey's right. Billy. I'm terrible bad on names. I have a brother named William who we called Billy growing so that's an easy one for me to confuse anyway. I kept wanting to call Jimmy Billy the whole time they were here.
Sorry.

Good morning troops...
I hope that you're all doing well..
Wish you a lazy and a train rich Sunday!

Toot and Montanan - I have an E with two dozen photos of low flying planes. Prop drivers ! P40,s P51,s twin engine WWII fighters and even a Lancaster. Also a bunch of jets. If you're interested , let me know.
Also anyone else who would like to see them. I got them from a modeler in Canada. A fellow cancer fighter.

Eric please my apology. I over reacted and I am wrong for it. So I hope no hard feelings. Sometimes I open mouth, and insert my foot, before thinking. William.

Thank you Carey for clearing that up for me. I over reactted. :o Imagine my how red my face is. Sorry Eric..

Don't worry about it. It ain't the first time I've gotten myself or someone else in trouble just because I got someone and/or names confused.
My other problem (sometimes causing worse problems) is to leave out words when I write thus completely and unintentionally changing the entire meaning. I'll bet about 90% of my posts and emails have many missing words.
Sorry for the confusion.
E.
