The Orioles picked up Jeremy Hellickson from the Phillies. They gave up Hyun Soo Kim and Garrett Cleavinger a young arm who throws hard (mid-90s) but has struggled with control and his fastball has little movement. Kim is a solid player, but has gotten little playing time.

Good morning all, 68 and sunny. Really having a nice summer so far. Drove up to Grand Rapids Thursday, got out of the city for a night. I forgot how quiet it could be out in the country. There is a constant hum of traffic where we live now.

Depot photos later today.

Take it easy, all

Morning Everyone! A decent nights sleep for a change - Right now feel really good. Maybe I am starting to get back in the groove so-to-speak?
Supposed to only reach 89 today which is just about a perfect temp - just warm enough that you want to rip off all your clothes and run around naked, or just cool enough that you feel like doing some outside work without having a heat stroke. Hmmm .. If I could convince some of my younger neighbors to join, I like the warmer version best!

Louis .. back to baseball (I like that). Birds are certainly struggling - sorry for that! Looks as if the Astros are going to be hard to take down this year. In the NL - the Dodgers seem to be running away from everyone. Be nice to see the Nationals knock them out. (Not a Dodger fan)
Be careful of the heat index - it can sneak up on you!

Jerry, You make any headway on the forum posting? It;s good to see you in the Coffee Shop. We have had several multi daily posters go silent during the past year with nary an explanation as to why - it's like they just fell off the earth?

Willie - Thanks for asking! Happy to be in a better frame of mind. I am so far behind that I will never catch up. Have to go down the road this morning and open another bank account. (Spousal Unit and I finally got caught upon all my back State and Federal Tax Returns. Mercy, The IRS is probably in a conundrum on what to do. Now they will have to dispose of all those "PAY UP, OR ELSE DEMAND" letters that I keep getting. I just received one the other day and wrote on it, "Eat your heart out - Return filed on such and such date" and sent it back. Anyway, we just refinanced the house for a lower rate and we save a few bucks via having the payment taken from an account at the lending firm + they gave an additional 1/4% off too!

CURT - I didn't say, buy I like the one on the left as well. Sorry to hear of your friends passing.

TERRY - Hope the headache has gone away! I didn't hear from you? PM me if you need pills, please.

Garry - Bummer on the truck - Glad that you are OK from the episode. Bet that caused your BP to go up? Your Bridge and River scene is the cats mew!

Excuse me - the yard guy is here and I need to get him to fix a broken sprinkler - back later - I know that I need to catch up with everyone more.

Sherrel.......Yes thank you, making headway......over on the Virtual Layout Tour starting a thread so you can see the layout I'm working on.......been there, ohhh, uhhh, 'bout three hours now. This computer is not fast, (it's about 10 years old), & sorting back & forth thru the pics takes me a while. But hey, this is Saturday and I'm hang'n out in front of the air con today.......:D
Stay cool in Temecula........

Hi all. Greetings from deep east Texas. Will be home tomorrow. Been trying to keep up with all the posts. Have traveled to Galveston and Crystal Beach, and spent time with family and friends in east Texas. Ready to be back in our own bed though.

Garry - I may want more details on your personal unpatented water effects process for when I pour our River and lake.

Will get get back to regular posting next week.

Have a good evening everyone.

JOHNNY- Be it ever so mortgaged, there is no place like home.

KEN- Hope the wind is at your back.

GARRY- Thanks for the notice re INCH. Passing the sad news was not a problem. He is a good man.
Your modeling is TOPS!
Temp didn't break 90 today. T/S were N E and S W Didn't get a drop.
Prayers for all,
PHIL

Say PHIL -- If you feel the wind on your back on a motorcycle - you could be in a heap of hurt! LOL!

KEN in VA.. By chance, Are you going near Grand Junction? I have a friend (engineer BNSF) there who has a dedicated layout building - like 40 x 60 in his back yard. Let me know!

Willie-- Can't make the connection to your comment?

Good morning. It's clear and 60.
I'm working long hours, 6 days a week, to try to keep everything moving at work. I finished up there yesterday evening, came home, and oversaw our new satellite tv system installation. Now, the people that bought our old travel trailer are bringing it down this morning for me to replace the air conditioner. The old one has been in service since 1992, so it's had a long life. I hope the new one lasts half as long.

At work, the service manager pro tem is taking a week's vacation this coming week, and another tech has to go to court for a child support issue, so that leaves two people to run the place, where there should be six. I told the other tech I'd flip a coin, and the loser would have to be service manager.

OK ... Made it until about 3 AM today. Must be another 1 step forward, 1 step back.

I'm beginning to feel like W. C. Fields with all these bank accounts that Spousal Unit and I have. (Fields opened an account in every town that he performed, maybe only a few cents in each - I fall into that crowd too!)

Think that I overdid it a little yesterday. Topping off the garbage barrels with the yard clippings and tree cuttings caused me some chest discomfort last evening. I hope that it is just from using some muscles that have not been exercised in awhile?

TERRY .. Should be an interesting week at work? Hope that you are feeling better. I did not know that you had sold your TT.

Ramblings this morning! Probably more to come!

I sold the big, older trailer that we traveled the country and lived in while doing so. I picked up a smaller, newer one using those proceeds.

So far, I haven't needed any more migraine meds. The drug store has finagled a way for me to pay for some of them at retail, at least until the prescription is completed. Retail is $7.50 per pill now, down from the $149 per of a year ago. Nobody can figure out why the insurance company has placed such a draconian limit on these, it's not like they contain any controlled substances, or are habit forming, or are now even all that expensive.
A also learned on Thursday my health insurance is jumping up another 60%, and my deductible is now going to be $10,000.00 per year, instead of the $5,000.00 it was. The $5k had an 80%/20% payment until $10k last time, when it would cover everything over $10k. Now it's just $10k before it starts. For anybody keeping track, it has quintupled in cost, benefits have been cut roughly in half, and the deductible has increased by 10X over the last two years.

This is the gate (to your yard) I was referring to, the warmer one.

Willie

Good Morning All. 77° and partly cloudy. Despite only reaching 95° yesterday, we had a heat index of 106°. We're on a cooling trend now with the highs only reaching 88-90 for the next ten days!!! Lows may dip into the upper 60's on a couple of days. Unheard of for the first week in August! I am actually still picking some tomatoes, picked about two dozen large ones and probably 40 or so small ones yesterday. Mowing continues unabated though, with all of the rain we have gotten.
Got some time in the train shed yesterday, but mostly read MR and Trains which came last week.

Garry - Yeah! I remember those days as well, land of Disneyland and movie stars...my family (Dad) never got the urge.
Johnny - So you're touring the eastern part of our great state. I would guess that you took the free ferry from Galveston to Crystal Beach. The land route from Beaumont through a small town called Winnie is rather scenic.
Terry - Sounds like a rough week at work coming up.
No, that's Obamacare... All nice and legal--and mandatory.
No comment lest I get Louis stirred up. Most thankfully I was able to jump from company assisted insurance (including COBRA) to Medicare (with supplement) without any interim dealings with the ACA. I do have friends who are not so fortunate. Doesn't look like a resolution any time soon.

Hey! Everybody have a great Sunday.

Willie

Terry ... As promised , you are saving $ 2500 annually with Obamacare. So after 7 years you now have an extra $17,500. You kept your doctors and kept your insurance also. Right.

sarcasm off

our self employed son in Cincinnati has experienced some Obamacare disasters too. They lost good affordable insurance and were forced into Obamacare. The skyrocketing rates and deductibles are devastating. They lost all four of their doctors who chose not to accept obamacare . He has a wife and two daughters.
