Take a hacksaw with you next time, cut out the bits with the name/date on them and sell on ebay. RARE!

Come on UPS with my MBK order!!!!
Nothing more I can do on fixing up these cars without more couplers.
Seems like every single one of them required at least 1 new coupler and new trucks or wheelsets.

I ordered a whole bunch of other stuff as well. I don't even remember off hand what all I got.
Seems like I also ordered a boatland of track so I'll be able to thrown down as soon as a I build the table.
Guess maybe I should get my brother Bill to take me over to Home Depot [REAL] soon.

Actually, I wish my landlord would send all my DCC equipment. Sure my DCC engines I have run with the DC pack but I can't do all the cool things like DCC enabled engines can.

Good Morning All. 72° and partly cloudy right now. Well that 15% chance of rain yesterday left 4.2" in the rain gauge overnight. Thunder and lightning started around 9:30 and went on until around 1:30. I unfortunately added water to the pool yesterday morning...leading to overflow conditions and probable chemical imbalance. Our heat index reached 108° before the clouds moved in. With all of the rain last night, most outdoor activity not in the driveway is negligible today, but it means that the grass/weeds will go absolutely wild in a few days. I'm still about an acre behind mowing wise already.
Didn't spend as much time in the train shed as I would like to have yesterday; but I really got into making a couple of "out and back" local switching runs, eventually rotating about 30 freight cars.

Sherrel - Surprised to still see any watermelons left.
Blackz28 - Stop by more often if you can.
Jerry - Pretty neat find. I would bring more than the hacksaw that Toot suggested, maybe a cutting torch. Those Aussies always do things the hard way.;)
Eric - "Chompin' at the bits" are you? I am glad to see you posting regularly about modeling. I know how much you have expressed being able to get back to normalcy. You're getting there. Still praying for you though. Too bad that you can't convince anyone to make a road trip to GA.

Still looking for Justin (Chessie). He hasn't posted in over a month.
Everybody have a wonderful day and an awesome week ahead.

Willie

Yeah Willie, I'd love to get all my stuff. Get someone to go with us to help load up isn't a problem. I probably could even get a hold of some of my buddies in GA to come help load the truck there. Problem is me. I don't know how well I'd take that travel. It's a minimum 8 hours drive one way.
So in the mean time I'm having my landlord send me "care" packages of stuff here and there. As a devout Christian man, he and his family are willing to do anything they can to help me out. At over 10 years now I'm the longest staying and paying tenant they ever had and I've never been late once.
However, the fact remains that I'm basically wasting $750 + utilities a month in what amounts to climate controlled storage - with pets.

Good morning. 58 to start the day off with an expected high of 89.

Jerry - Nice find. It is amazing what you can find that many people will overlook along abandoned right of ways.

Willie - You can keep your heat index. We were up into the low 90's yesterday, but it is dry and the temps cooled off enough to just having to run the fan last night in the bedroom. Rain is something that we could use up here with the low humidity. Wild fires are possible. Red Flag warnings all over the area.

Eric - Don't give the UPS guy a flying tackle when he shows up. It can be very frustrating waiting for supplies. Been there, done that. I am waiting for an MB Klien order also. They had a sale on Kadee products and I ordered a Northern Pacific covered hopper at a really good discount. Some of the other items I ordered were diaphragms for some of my older passenger equipment just to find out that at the model railroad club, some of the turns are too tight for passenger cars with the diaphragms installed. I have quite a few Walthers cars that came with them and did experience a few derailments running at the club Saturday.

Blackz28
- Don't be such a stranger.

Good morning ....

Eric ... Do you still have any friends back there in GA who could pick up the DCC stuff and send it to you ?

Chet .... I Know diaphragms don't work well if the rub together own curves. I have not figured out a way to have them touching each other with a train going on a curve. .... Below is an older photo you might like.

Garry - The FP-7's look a bit familiar, along with the cars. Nice photo.

I never had any derailments on my home layout with the diaphragms on my Walthers cars. They are just barely short of touching and do look good but most of my curves are over a 40 inch radius with the exception of one spot where I had to use a 32 inch radius to make things fit, but still no derailments. At the club, everything is Peco flex track, but they aren't sure what their minimum radius is, but some are a bit tight.

By the way, I hear that there was some flooding down your way. Hope you weren't affected.

I was curious if any of you fellers have used or know someone who does use the Woodland Scenics lighting system call Just Plug?
With all the buildings I have in the old layout that I lit up by scratch.
I've probably already tripled that number of buildings and probably will add even more to come.
So, I was wondering if this would be a time saver and just another gimic component I don't really since I very adept at doing this on my own.
Any thoughts?
PM me if you don't want to air any dirty laundry about the product.
E.

Eric - Check with Greg. He posted a while back about that system. He seems very happy with it and it does look good. I am interested in it also, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

By the way, forgot to insert a rail photo today. Here goes.

HOLY CHIT, BATMAN!
Too many posts for me to comment on each (but I do wish?) Anyway ... for starters .. believe it or not .. I finally had a good night's sleep. It has been a seldom occurrence here lately for sure - only three nights in the last two weeks, but thankfully, I seem tobe getting better each day.

OK, enough of that. Its sposed to be 85 today, but guessers have been 5 degrees, or more, off for a week. Yesterday they said 90 - It was 96! With an unobstructed clear deep blue sky, that is HOT here if you are standing in the sun!

If that guy's going to cut that rail with a hacksaw .. I hope he uses a powered one and has lotsof blades. In lew of that I hope he has strong arms and several days to spare!

Lots of neat posts .. ERIC .. If I was able to make the trip back East with the RV - I had actually thought about trying to go by and load up your stuff. Afraid that it will have to wait a while longer.

Waiting to hear what Karl bought at the auction?

Thank you from my heart Sir Sherrel!!!
Not many friends would do that - much less friends you've never met.

Good afternoon all, 72 and headed for 78, we are having a beautiful mostly sunny day with light breeze. A nice contrast from the high humidity's we have been experiencing.

Chet-- I liked your video of the shortened NP passenger train
Garry-- nice photo of your NP scene
Eric-- for the sake of the UPS man I hope your package arrives soon

Good morning. Mid-80s and sunny in central MD, major improvement from yesterday.

Eric - here's a product review of the Just-Plug lighting system:

Sherrell - glad your getting more sleep, hope the trend continues!

Chet - excellent photo, it proves there's even a prototype for 3-rail Lionel!

Never made it to my daytime job today. Had to take SWMBO to the E/R at 5:00am for severe pain on her right side, a suspected kidney stone. The CT scan was inconclusive, the doc said it showed that the tube between the right kidney and the bladder was inflamed, but no sign of any stone:confused:. They surmised that the stone must have passed, and sent her home around noontime. She says she feels normal again, guess we'll find out for sure when her current dose of pain med wears off...

I just got my UPS order loaded up with goodies!!!!
Got a case 36" flex track and a case of cork roadbed to go along with.
Near as I can tell I got everything I ordered - no B/Os

Now the conumdrum is what to work on first?
Kind of going to the grocery store after running out. You don't know what to eat first. ;)

Afternoon All,

Very hot and humid here today with it trying to rain. Today I ran a small consist for around 45 minutes while I experimented cutting styrene rectangles (for aluminum roofing). I cut 13 exact replicas:cool: which I could never of done freehand.

Toot- I watched a nature show last week that had a segment on Frazer Island and how a rain forest grew on a sand island (at least I think it was Frazer Island:confused:).

Garry- Great pic.

Chet- Interesting photo with what appears to be a abandoned third rail.

Eric- I have looked at them closely in the LHS but I haven't used them. I figured that with a lot of buildings and many with multiple lights that the system would get expensive quickly. Now that my modeling $$$ is limited I have to try to stretch it.

I hope everyone has a good night.

HOLY CHIT, BATMAN!

Waiting to hear what Karl bought at the auction?

No trains Sherrel , I just bought a handy-dandy 5x8 landscaping type trailer. My boss was there too, bought a John Deere riding tractor so guess who had to deliver it to his house? LOL, he paid more than I did!

Curt - those NWSL Choppers are great aren't they? I couldn't have built half of my scratchbuilt steel mill structures without it!

Hmmm, Ken in MD. Hope the spouse is still doing well? Did they give her a little cup with a screen in the bottom to pee in? If she had one, it will come rolling out - unless it already did - and that, my friend, is a really strange feeling! Twice for me.
