Sherrell - great to hear from you again! Hopefully they'll let you walk out of there soon...

Terry - I hope your niece recovers soon and can kick the habits that put her in danger of this sort of thing!

Garry, hope your friend Dan's condition is continuing to improve...

Haven’t really been able to participate much in the conversations here lately. With my ADHD I really can’t work on my layout AND reply to everybody’s comments at the same time, its either one or the other; and I do want to get some scenery down, so I can start shooting layout photos and posting them here the way Garry, Chet, Curt, and DJ-Ken do with theirs.

I’ve started another thread about my layout scenery adventure, that’s where I’ll be posting all the in-progress photos from now on: http://www.modelrailroadforums.com/forum/showthread.php?40379-CL-amp-W-Subdivision-Scenery-Blog

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Dug out the iPad this morning .. It's hot fellows .. Either the a/c froze up, or maybe just could not keep up yesterday afternoon. It got rather warm here in the hospital .. Finally cooled off around 2am and working fine this morning.
After listening to those two cardio surgeons briefing their teams on the or .. I am just happy and thankful to be upright and walking.
Maybe get to go home tomorrow morning?

THank you all for your calls, thoughts, and prayers.

Sherrel: Great news. Still praying.

Good afternoon. Looks like we are now stuck in the heat wave that the rest of the country is putting up with. At noon it is 94 degrees with 18% humidity.

Sherrel - Glad to see you posting today. You did seem a bit groggy yesterday. Hoping that you'll be on your way home tomorrow.

Ken in MD -
You'll have to post what your closet model railroading friends reaction to your layout is. I think you'lll light a fire under him to move forward in the hobby.

Think I'll make a sandwich and retire to the train room in the basement where it is cool and run some trains.

Later

Afternoon All,

Worked on the kit today and got the exterior painted and tried a new technique on a building (not scrap) for the first time with a 1/4" pounce wheel. I also salvaged several detail parts from the old tower.

Garry- I had to look at the picture again to see what you were talking about (pink rabbit).

Toot- Great news about your loco's.

Sherrel- I'm really glad to see you posting again. Hopefully you will get out of the hospital tomorrow. Was this your last surgery for the aneurysm?

I hope everyone has a good evening.

He was planning on just slapping down some track on his ping pong table and buying a train set to run on it. I told him to hold off on that and I'll get him in on some op sessions here. He was certainly overwhelmed with what could be done, especially the electronics.

Who? Is this a possible train newbie you're talking about.
The electronics in model railroading is what got me interested in electronics in my first year of college during which time I got introduced to logic and computers.
I made a life-long career out of that.

Glad to see you're doing OK Sherrel. I'm quite nervous about my possible reconstruction surgery.
They first want to deal with that spot on my last PET though - I understand that.

The ENT surgeon I met with a couple weeks basically said I was in for a helluva ride on surgery.
And that I should expect a full 8 hours on the first one.
That's not what worries me. It's what I feel like afterwards. I had such a rough time with comparatively simple things I just don't know.
E.

He was one of the guys I rode up to Gettysburg, PA with yesterday.

All my pictures of my layout build and the bridge build are gone.
Photobucket is holding them for ransom.
That's what ya get when ya rely on somebody by their word.
Hey Photobucket, you don't list a means of contacting your office because you know your servers would be overloaded with the screw you emails.
What goes around, comes around.

Ken - Holding your photos for ransom? That's a bunch of crap. A few years ago I did use photobucket but found it a lot easier to load them onto an external hard drive and post them from there. I find that when ever I download a photo, photobucket automatically download it also. Not at all happy. Going to figure out to get out of photobucket. Hope you can get the problem solved.

I wonder if they will load to an external hard drive? I'm in the same situation. I will delete them all before paying PB. It's the principal of the thing.

Comparing what they want as an annual fee to what other storing sites are asking, to me, it looks like they're constructing a reason for bankruptcy. And putting the blame onto customers.

Yeah, they are holding my photos for ransom. I can either pay the $400 a year or I have to go back and repost all my progress photos from my home computer.
Just like the ransomware people, they don't care about anybodies photos. They're in the position to do that and if ya don't want to pay, to bad.

Good evening ...

Ken in MD ... Thanks for asking about Dan.... He is home and will have a long difficult recovery. For now, he is on a feeding tube 22 hours a day which keeps him close to home most of the time. He has an appointment Friday in Lexington where he had the surgery which is about 230 miles from here. He is hoping to begin swallowing just water soon.

Regarding Photo Bucket ...... I'm gradually shifting to Flickr. I like how Flickr makes it easy to organize my photos. I also like it because their APP on my I-phone makes it convenient.

Below are two old photos I rescued from Photo Bucket. Any Pennsy fans out there?

The PRR T-1 is a Bowser model I acquired which was a basket case. I rebuilt the entire locomotive and detailed it with a Bowser detail kit. The photo was take when I was a novice with a digital camera on the first section to be completed on my current layout several years ago.

I no longer own the T-1. It may have looked out of place rolling across Nebraska on the CB&Q.

In the background of the second photo are an E7A and an E7B which were Hobbytown models I also rebuilt from basket cases.

Advice needed fellers:
I spec'ed out my table and legs and bracing the other day.
What advice do you all have for me on these leg types and placements:

Eric ... With that overall shape, I would suggest you build three sections. ... 4' x 4'; 2' x 8', and 4'x4'. .... Connect them together in the shape of your drawing.

Below are photos of some of my bench work to illustrate how I made my layout sections...

Yeah Garry, That happens to be my exact plan. 3 sections as you mentioned.
2 piences of 4' x 4'
Center piece would be 2' or 3' x 8'.
However, since I have layed tape and can now visualize it. I think I'll with a 2.5' x 8'

It looks like you are using 2x2 for all your legs.
Makes me think I'm overkilling to use 1x4 much 2x4.

What say yee all?
