Good morning all, 60 and sunny for a start.

I finished my on line training yesterday and drove out to the rail yard yesterday to get a glimpse of the operation. will be starting at 4 am Monday morning, I guess one of the truckers sleeps there overnight to be the first one unloaded.

I should have some good photos to post Monday afternoon.

Getting ready to apply the shingles to the depot building, however most of my days will be at work so it is going to be a slow process.

Eric-- sorry to hear about your old friends

Morning fellers,
Does anyone know a free program that can "stitch" 2 images together?
Or if you have a program that can do it for me, I'll send you 2 jpg files.
It's a rough diagram of the new layout table.

I may be 50 years late in asking this question:
is the Testors "Model Master" paint not meant for regular styrene - the regular kit plastics.
Or is it a matter of acrylic vs. enamel paints?

E....I've never had ModelMaster enamel paint react badly with styrene and I have never used any Testors acrylic paint so cannot comment on it. I used to use Humbrol enamels and Model Master almost exclusivly. Now I tend to use acrylic paint almost exclusivly and I rarely use enamels anymore.

Cheers
Gene

Good morning, 72°, sunny and...humid. Maybe a good beach day for those so inclined.

Louis: RE: MBK, they are my go to place, for stuff. Fair price, good service, and reliability are beyond reproach. TrainWorld, is a slightly different business, as they deal as much with Hi-Railers, and collectors as well as modelers. They are also fair priced, with good service and reliability. Their pricing, reflects NY, vs. Baltimore, so generally it's slightly higher per unit. I do all my pre-orders with TrainWorld.

Orioles blew another lead last night...I guess they will be selling at the deadline.

Boris I have been meaning to ask you; have you ever been to Assateague Island National Seashore? It is my favorite place on earth. I hope and pray global warming does not wash it away.

I concur with your views on MB Klein and Train World.

The birds need a veteran starter. Jim Palmer often credits Robin Roberts for mentoring him on how to be a pitcher, as opposed to being a thrower. McNally, Palmer and Bunker all benefited from his mentoring. We have good strong live arms. The ball jumps out of their hand and they appear to being throwing down hill. They struggle getting out of the first inning and going through the order the second & third time. They struggle in times when experience is needed. Establishing the fastball and when to use the secondary pitches. They need to go out and get a veteran near the end of his career to mentor these young arms. They don't seem to be listing to the pitching coach.

Curt -
Good advice. Now if only Louis would listen to that!

Willie I am trying, but my boundaries keep expanding :) thank God!

David I wish you well, I know you will do great. Don't try to be great, just be yourself and it will happen because of the man you are.

I know you are not a sports guy, but I put everything in baseball terms. Don't try to hit a homerun, just see it and hit it.

Think safety, work safely.

Afternoon All,

Our plans for the grand kids birthday party were cancelled today because of the weather (pool party), so I started on my kit and got the inside and the roofing braces painted. I also scratch built a lever machine to go inside. It looks like crap in the photo, but I think it will be OK inside the tower.

Garry- Great photos.

Joe- Nice looking trucks and Keurig;).

Eric- Sorry for the loss of your friends.

Louis- Great narrative about our media issues.

I hope everyone has a good night.

A quick post. Just talked with Sherrel and he is doing fine. The operation went well and he is ready to go home. Hoping for tomorrow afternoon or Monday morning. He really appreciated all of the concern that the member had for him.

By the way, 92 degrees with 1% humidity.

Chet. Thank you for the update about Sherrel. I'm looking forward to seeing him posting here again soon

Curt ... it looks like the interlocking tower operator will be a pink rabbit .

Ken, of the D&J R' your Bright Boy experience is one of those hiding in plain sight occurences, a bit like my missing locos (yes, I found them), in a box I had overlooked, or more accurately, looked over. And like when you make a mistake when mentally tallying up numbers, you tend to make the same mistake at least more than twice before finding it.

Had a great ride up to Gettysburg, PA today with a few other riders. One of the guys was a closet model railroader. I invited him to stop by the house on his way home to see the empire. He's hooked now.

Good morning. It's clear and 74.
My niece is supposed to be seeing a cardiologist, but they're having some trouble getting her insurance to authorize the visit. I know legally, the authorization can't be denied, and they haven't denied it. They just haven't authorized it yet. So she's waiting.

Good Morning All. 74° and mostly cloudy today. Chance of thunderstorms later, there's some right now over the border in OK about 25 miles north, and headed this way. A few isolated storms yesterday afternoon came within 2 miles of here, but never made it. This is May/June type weather that we're having right now. I did manage to get some of the most critical parts of the yard mowed yesterday after installing my new tie rod...had to wait until after 11:00 for the heavy dew to partially evaporate. Ugggh! The pool temperature reached 89° yesterday pm. Still cooler than the air though. It would drop some if we had some wind and clear nights, which hasn't been happening.
Out in the train shed, I actually started on a project on my "projects to be completed" list. I made some initial buss runs for layout structure lighting. Terminal strips were installed when the power busses were run, so now to connect all of them to the power supplies and run the final hook-up to structures with lights already installed. Then additional structures can be added. My power supplies are discarded power supplies used in computer network "repeater (booster?) stations" at work when we were "wired. They became obsolete when they converted to wifi about 15 years ago. They supply 12v and have a 5 amp output. I have twelve of them, many more than I need.
I feel like Ken (D&J) right now, as I have misplaced a package of 28" metal wheels that I have somewhere. I hate it when that happens!

Terry - Sounds like your niece is doing better. Continued prayers. Seems a bit young for a heart attack though, I hope that they find and resolve the cause.
Eric - I have used both Model Masters and Testor's without any issues.
Chet - A little late, but thanks for the update on Sherrel. I think that he may have tried to call me as well, but my wife didn't recognize the number and didn't answer.

Everyone have a great Sunday.

Willie

Willie
She's 43, weighs 350 pounds, and has a history of drug use, as well as family history of heart trouble. Her mother died of a heart attack about 3 years ago, and her father died of, among other things, a blood clot in his heart.

Terry - I thought that I recalled that you posted recently that she had drug issues, enough said. I still hope and pray that she recovers and can live out a useful life.

Willie

Good morning ...

Ken D&J ... It is good of you to show the layout to someone who may be interested in becoming active in our hobby.

Toot ... It's good you found the box of locos. Perhaps, the ghost hid them from you at first and later put them where you thought you looked over them.

Willie ... You may have a ghost also and he hid your wheels.

Terry .... Of course, I hope your niece recovers. However, I wonder when I hear of people who fail to take proper care of themselves, and the result is a major life-threatening illness. Their expensive medical bills if paid by insurance companies are largely funded with premiums paid by people who do take care of themselves. ........ and people wonder why health care costs are soaring .....

Dug out the iPad this morning .. It's hot fellows .. Either the a/c froze up, or maybe just could not keep up yesterday afternoon. It got rather warm here in the hospital .. Finally cooled off around 2am and working fine this morning.
After listening to those two cardio surgeons briefing their teams on the or .. I am just happy and thankful to be upright and walking.
Maybe get to go home tomorrow morning?

THank you all for your calls, thoughts, and prayers.

Sherrel if those doctors had known what a tough SOB you are they would have been as confident as I was that you would come through this. I am proud of you my friend.

Now get yourself back on track. When you get some traction, load up the RV and come see me!

Willie

That was the sister in law. She has since passed on from extremely aggressive lung cancer.
