Eric. ... I'm very happy you are with us. What is your next model railroad project ?

Thanks Garry!! Happy to be here as well!!!!

I'm just now finishing up a roadside diner. Waiting on a tool from micro-mark to cut really thing masking tape pieces so I can straighten out the red, white and blue stripes on the diner.

Next project is a kit by Faller (instructions in German again). It's the Arial Tank Farm. I figured it would go along with the oil refinery I finished.
I also have the Walthers refinery piping kit which mentions using it along with this tank farm and the refinery. It mentioned they kit/product number specifically so they should all play nice together and look AWESOME! At least that's the hope.

Don't know how much I'll try to do tonight.

Herre is some pics!

Eric. I'm glad you are enjoying putting together building kits. It looks like are are doing a good job

i recall when I assembled a Diner kit like yours. It was during the KY ice storm of 2009 . For nine days we had no electricity, no land line phone, no cell phone, no internet, and no county water. Broken trees blocked the roads. In the daytime, we sat at windows to read books. After 2 days of reading books, I decided to build a kit and that is when I built the Diner . We were without power and so on for nine days. I found other stuff to do also.

Good morning Everybody!

Still moving slow, but feeling good.

I hope everybody is doing good as well.

Good morning everyone. 68 and sunny. Will get to 92 today - we've hit 90 twice this year that I recall but this will be the first time above 90. Weekend still looking nice.

Garry - Where did you get the wall mural in that last photo you posted - particularly the sky/clouds?

Eric - Great news! Hooray! Now as far as your kit with German instructions, here, put this in your Google translator: "Wenn das Kit nicht gut aussieht, mit Hammer zertrummern und wieder von vorne angangen."

Thanks everyone for the comments on the benchwork. I did the trimming last night on the new section - a little sloppy 'cause I hate using the portable circular saw - much prefer my table saw but the benchwork top is too big and awkward to take out to the woodshop. But, the sloppiness will be covered by landscaping

Have a good day everyone.

We've been dealing with some family issues the last couple of days in the Detroit area. Came back to Lansing last night to take care of a few things, and it's back to Detroit in a couple of hours.

Got a call that my N scale Athearn Bigboy is in. Don't think I'll be able to pi k it up until Tuesday or Wednesday.

Friday morning here. I stopped at the local Shopper's Food Warehouse to pick up a dozen donuts for the team. Over the past few times I have bought them, the selection is getting smaller and they are getting more stale. Today, whole shelves were void of anything. The only thing in there were the kind that are sorta like cotton candy with the sprinkles. Those are almost pointless as they dissolve to almost nothing when ya eat them and the sprinkles fall off and get everywhere.
I kinda think they decided to quit making the better ones because everybody keeps buying them and leaving the crappy ones.

Morning Gents, another sleepless night for me.
Well at least I've gotten a ton of stuff done. Trains and otherwise.

Good Morning Guys. A muggy 74° and clear skies. It looks like we're in a pleasant summer pattern of low-70's to mid-90's for the next ten days with a slight chance of rain Sunday. Made the grocery/beer trek yesterday and only used two hours because I made no other stops. It still blew the whole morning.

Went into the train shed with great intentions yesterday, but mostly ran trains. That's what it's there for isn't it? Although I am probably one step closer to accomplishing something on unfinished projects, I made a list of them. Only took two standard notebook pages! However I did highlight some that are either easy or are close to completion to work on first, the "low-hanging fruit" so to say. As I have posted before, I concentrated on benchwork, roadbed and track laying/wiring so that I could run trains early, while leaving vast swatches of plywood with only sidings and structures in place. I already have boxes and boxes of foam, ballast, tree material, people and vehicles to populate the remaining areas, as well as many more structure kits, so I have no excuse. Besides, I can't mow until my part arrives Monday so I have some time in the next few days.

Eric - Great news. I am positive that you are relieved. Now for the plumbing removal. You're making a lot of progress with model rr'ing, building structures, planning the layout etc. Keep it up.
Johnny - Benchwork is looking good. Looks like you have plenty of room for expansion once the present work is completed. Your garden season is a bit behind mine due to the differing climates, but unlike your BIL, I am still going strong with tomatoes and surprisingly squash, although about a dozen tomato plants have bit the dust. I am currently gathering information regarding which varieties they are. I tried several new varieties this year to go along with some of my tried and tested varieties that will survive my weather. Today is going to be another tomato processing day. Judging on what I see on the table, I will get another three quarts of spaghetti sauce and maybe a few pints of hot sauce. It does take away time from modeling though!
Joe - Please don't misunderstand me, I am making no judgements regarding NJ politics. I just thought that this was an amusing sidebar when there are most likely much more serious issues for the politicians and media to deal with. I do agree with your analysis.
Where's Justin and David? I hope that they are both OK.
Hoping to hear from Sherrel or his wife today as well. Terry???
All right, everybody have a great day.

Willie

Good morning.
Sherrel's surgery went well, and he is in the room he will be occupying for a while.

Terry - Thanks for the update. As I understood from Sherrel's recent post, that room is in ICU and he'll be there about a week. Rooting for him from here.

Terry.... Thank you for the good news about Sherrel. If you can continue with updates in the days ahead, we will be grateful.

Johnny..... My backdrops start with Faller backdrops because I like the sky. In some areas I leave the scene under the sky alone. In other cases I will paint in new scenes under the sky or paste pictures over them. For example, the larger buildings in the photo with the UP train are cut from box tops of kits for making buildings and glued to the backdrop. The disadvantage to paper backdrops is too much humidity will cause wrinkles.

Good morning. Glad that I'm not near Phil. 59 degrees to start off the day but temps should be in the mid 90's for the next few days, but with low humidity. Had the air conditioner on last night for the first time in the bedroom.

Eric - I had the same problem with the City Classics diner. Couldn't get the stripes straight for the life of me. I ended up chucking it and went with the Walthers Diner. Spray painted it a shiny silver like yours in the photo and NO stripes, but I did detail the interior. With the lighting, the shiny silver doesn't show up in the photo.

Good luck with the refinery kit. I see a lot of piping going on there.

Ken in MD - Nothing worse than stale donuts. Maybe you could use them as hockey pucks.

Terry - Thanks for the update on Sherrel. Great news.

Got some things to do, Later

Tell the judge she said she was 18.

That might work with the judge, but it won't fly with daddy, best make yourself scarce.

Ken I am sorry to hear you have a lame shoppers. Maybe somebody in the bakery has been out sick. Mine is the opposite, always full if you go in the morning. There colossal donuts are the best you can buy in my book. They dwarf Krispy Cream and Dunkin Donuts, they taste better too and at $5.99 per dozen they are much cheaper. Bigger, Better and Cheaper! I like that combination. Too bad I'm diabetic, but I do enjoy watching my family and friends enjoy them.

Good morning.
Sherrel's surgery went well, and he is in the room he will be occupying for a while.

Thank you Terry!

I have been, and will continue to not be here much for a while.
My niece suffered a heart attack Monday, and am dealing with that as much as possible, without a trip to California.

Terry ! ... Sorry to hear about your niece. Prayers for her.

Afternoon All,

Very hot here today. The 3 boys are here today and MOH is at her part time job, so they're in the pool and I'm listening to 60's music and drinking a cup of coffee. I talked to Phil for a little bit today and basically it's SSDD like the rest of us . I will probably start the tower kit from AMB Sunday. It looks to be pretty basic, but I'm trying to replace as much plastic as I can. Tomorrow is the boys combined birthday party. I did not pressure wash the pool deck today because when I got up my back was hurting, and I have learned to listen to it the hard way.

Eric- I'm glad you got good news. Have fun with the kits.

Johnny- Landscaping is a great way to hide a multitude of errors, all of which I have probably made!

Terry- Sorry to hear about your niece and Prayers for her and your family. Thank you for the update on Sherrel.

Garry- Very nice modeling.

Sherrel- I'm glad the procedure went well.

I hope everyone has a good night.
