ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

Nice picture, Curt. I've always had a soft spot for a coal drag, no matter what railroad!

LASM, that's a great picture! I love the grass covering tracks that apparently see some sizeable trains, at least on occasion. The period from about 1962 to 1968 is what I plan on modeling. I'm not going to be a real stickler for a certain piece of equipment being a year or two out of place..........it's my railroad and if I like it it goes.

I've always said there would never be any pre-merger green on my layout but I've still got some Burlington Northern railcars left from my previous N scale layout and I might be tempted to venture into 1971 so I could operate a Great Northern loco and maybe even a Northern Pacific!! I. MUST. FIGHT. THE. URGE!!!!!!

Evening fellers,
Dang my feet hurt!! This guy I started working for has me stripping wall paper. Although Larry is a highly-skilled builder in just about all respects, he's never dealt with wall paper except to watch his Mom hang some. He had no idea what it takes to strip it - especially the vinyl coated stuff used in bathrooms. He said if he hadn't been there with me all day he would have thought I was sand bagging my time.
Tomorrow I'll hopefully finish the kitchen (probably 30 minutes) and the half-bathroom I started on this morning - after we take out the toilet. THEN, I "get" to start on the dining room and hopefully it's regular paper and NOT the vinyl coated stuff.

[sarcasm=on]Oh yay![sarcasm=off]

What make and model is the black/dk blue 4 door in the front, the one with the sun shade? My great uncle had one in his pole barn.

Chevrolet '48-'52. Is the same styling as GM Holden's first Aussie manufactured car. I first saw one of those Chevs when I was 8 or 9 in NZ at a beach camping ground we went to at this time of year. I was an avid pencil drawer of cars and that one influenced my drawings for several years that followed, the other being the Ford 49'er, single spinner and the '51 twin spinner. Those Chevs were the most common taxis in Auckland too.

Yes. You WILL be assimilated.

A few hours on stripping wall paper? Really? Send him here and I'll happily pay out of my pocket. I'm sure Larry wouldn't mind either so me and him can get on with proper remodeling besides this cosmetic stuff.

Karl, I don't know about that. All my exes were mighty fine. At least at the time. The last one was a horrible kisser. The 1st one just didn't want to be married anymore (to me I suppose). Now I hears she's huge and I wouldn't recognize her. The 2nd was an awesome kisser and I wouldn't mind having that again. Too bad she wouldn't keep her legs closed and quit stealing pills from the dentists she worked for. I have 2 step-daughters from #2. I'm at the end of my bloodline otherwise.

Good evening. Posting on iPhone again. We arrived in Michigan okay. It was a good idea to wait a day to drive. The weather was fine yesterday to drive

Bob. You can run GN locomotives on the CB&Q during the 1960's because GN and CB&Q did pool locomotives in the 1960's . I saw GN F units on the Q running into and out of Chicago when I was young.

Good evening. 52°, with rain and fog. We are at the day's high temperature. It will begin dropping into the 40s sometime after midnight. Tomorrow should be nicer. Went to a "care" meeting today concerning the MIL. She is doing much better, and was able to participate in the meeting. After further review, Insurance is again paying for the rehab. Based on the current prognosis, she should be able to migrate to Assisted Living in about two weeks.

I placed an order with my favorite dealer for a variety of Microscale decals and PECO switches in C83. Walthers annual track sale begins in a few days, so I'll be looking to pick up some Shinohara product after the New year. I have a lot of flex left over from the previous layout along with Midwest cork. Things are starting to happen.

I was checking the Walthers site, checking progress of the remaining Capitol Limited cars still outstanding. The Diesels, due last March are finally in at Walthers. My A-B units should be in next week. The Dome Sleeper and Observation, initially due in December, are now estimated for late March. That will close out the train...finally.

Run both, that way it will be Christmas time all the time.

ERIC- You don't want that Andrew. First name is " HURRICANE "

Time for me to get to bed. So goodnight all. God Bless!

MAJOR LEAGUE 10-4 ON THAT!!!
No doubt Larry won't mind either so long as I'm making progress.
As we were wrapping for this evening I told I think the dining looks great as it is. He agrees but says his "designer people and realtors" tell him it's too dark. Simple. Put in brighter lights or add some. He agrees with that. His entire house is already LED.

The dude's house is awesome really. I got no idea about the "real" back story. I know some of it.
He has already told me he's several (like a half-dozen) "helpers" who have screwed him around already.
I don't why he bothered to tell me about. Perhaps to get it off his chest. I have no reason to think him a BS'er at this point but from what he tells me he's out about $100k (one hundred thousand) on useless past help.
He's busted a few of his former helpers and caught them on camera.
Got nothing to worry about from me. He doesn't know that I suppose.
Gotta lay down now.

Good Morning All...extra early this morning! Partly cloudy and 34 degrees here in North Central Texas right now, will probably drop another degree or two by sunrise. Yesterday turned into a very nice day with bright sunshine, no wind and temps in the upper 40's. Too bad for me that it is still too wet from last weekend's rain or I would have done more outside. As it was, I could only spread some gravel around on parts of the driveway (by hand/shovel/wheelbarrow) to repair some washouts. When the county re-did our road a few months ago, they left me a pile of "surplus" gravel/clay to use. I need the exercise.

CS3/Justin - As a follow-up to the information regarding my method of spray painting your track, if you do it the way I described, spray about 2'-3' at a time and immediately use a paper towel to wipe the paint off the tops of the rails before it dries. It makes re-cleaning much easier.
Eric - You make me tired just reading about your adventures with wallpaper.

Happy New Years Eve to all. I haven't seen midnight in over 30 years...oh well, it still happens.
Willie

Good morning, America! It's 29° and cloudy here in the middle of the country. I sure hope Ameren Illinois has all the power back on for everyone by now. Last night they interviewed a spokesman who said they should be done restoring power by this morning. Last night there were still over 10000 houses without power. Where we live we had just a very thin sheet of ice on our steps, 40 miles away they had hundreds of tree limbs down and lots of entire trees blown over, many of them onto houses. We really dodged a bullet!

Garry, I know that GN power made it's way into Chicago from St. Paul on occasion but I'm not sure if it would have made it's way to Galesburg and south to Paducah on the Beardstown Sub. I remember high nose Southern SD's on run through freights to Galesburg but I don't know if that started before the merger or after. I also know that Uncle Pete GP20's were sandwiched between CB&Q GP20's on the racetrack out of Chicago and that New York Central and Pennsylvania diesels with Q units were not rare in the Chicago area either. I guess I just need to remember the rule, "it's my railroad and if I like it, it goes"!

How much do you "bend the rules" for your layout? By the way, I don't think you could ever post too many pictures of your layout.........it looks great!
