Sure wish you would bring some of that my way .. been 76 a few min ago.
Looks like another brown Christmas is on the way.

Good pic everyone .. Curt, hope the little fellow is feeling better today.
Willie .. I thought that was not a rattler when I looked at the pic close up. Markings sure mimic it though. BTW, I will let you keep him just the same. We have enough rattler's around here as it is.
Terry in Wisc. Your layout pic are very nice. I like what you have done.
Cheesie, Keep plugging .. you will figure it out.
Joe .. hope all is working out for you. You,ve had a lot to deal with there.
Someone's mentioned their Dad having surgery? Glad to here he is up and around.
Chet .. better install a heater in that skidder!

I know that I have overlooked some .. apologize in advance.
Colonoscopy was clear yesterday .. good for another year!

Could be. We have or had 6 trucks stuck in that mess. One guy sat for two days. The skies are clear but the drifting snow drops visibility on the ground to next to nothing.

Watching the feed yesterday when they did open the interstate, it looked like letting a bunch of rats out of a sack.

I wonder if that's where my package is. Last record of it was when it left the post office in Grand Forks, ND. The 14th. Priority Two Day.

Evening All,

Saw Jon today and it appears that L1 has been fixed:D. I tested it again when I got home with success. Next step is weathering which I hope to get done this weekend. Today and tomorrow the highs are in the 60's but by Christmas it will once again be in the mid 80's. Unfortunately Phil was feeling bad today so he did not go to Jon's. Buddy would not eat tonight which is a bad sign for skunks since they are like dogs and will eat until their bellies explode.

Willie- Actually skunks in the wild are pretty rare in most of FL.

Montanan- Love the picture.

Garry- Yes, kids do grow up quick.

Milw113- Congrats on the C425.

Terry in Wisc- I love it. It looks very professionally done.

Chessie- I am sure whatever you will decide will be great looking.

My Genesis FP7 ABA set. They are great runners.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Hello my pibbles!!

The workweek is over, but now my nose, like my fridge, wont stop running! Just like me, to catch a cold this time of year! Oh well!

I did note the passing this week of our Jeffrey. May he rest knowing he was not forgotten.

Curt
, Good lookin Pennsy units. Been struggling with my Pennsy steam roster of late.. I have more cars now that my E-6 and my G-5 can pull! I keep running into deals I can refuse!

Terry, call out the Postal Blood Hounds!

Sherre
l, good news on you Colonocsyourpappy! ( can't say it without getting the willies!)

Saronaterr
y, the valances look great! Adds so much to the look of a professional layout!

Chet, Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Chessie,, coming along nicely!

I can do without the snakes, but these lil guys are fun to watch, from a distance. Still I wouldn't mind having one for a pet. My Ex-FIL had one, neat little critter (descented, of course)

smoke3.jpg

Ya know, you CAN run a Bachmann smoke unit off of a DCC function! !!!

L8ter all!

I just want to echo everything Karl said. Jeffrey definitely left a hole here with his passing...........hard to believe it's been a year.

Finished all of the Christmas shopping except for my wife. About half way there with hers and hope to finish it tomorrow. If I can't get her what I want,I guess there's always the gift card route. Yeah, I'll take the easy way out at this stage of the game!

I now have most of the stuff I am planning to give my wife for Christmas. The rest of it should be arriving in the mail in the next few days. Tomorrow will be taken up by wrapping those presents.

Good evening ...

Curt .... The Pennsy ABA units look fabulous.

Karl ... I was not aware a smoke unit could be controlled with a DCC function. My two Bachmann 4-8-2's do not have a smoke unit anyhow.

You all are making druel with having so much fun.
Some not having so much fun - I understand. Me neither.
I got nothing going on these days except to hang around for the banter.

Sherrel: While the markings may be somewhat similar a Rattler has a much broader triangular shaped Head like an Equal lateral triangle with large pouches on either side. What Willie posted was a garden snake. I killed a few Diamond Back Rattlers on my place too.

Curt: Sorry to hear about Buddy not doing so well.
Glad you got your L1 fixed and that the Genesis FP7 ABA set are good runners.

Ok how about this? One industry. One yard track for it.

Say Chessie: I notice that the boards on your table are at two different heights. A tie plate about 8" long and about and 4" wide placed across the division joint so you have 4" on either side of the division with 4 short dry wall screws per side will even the top surface nicely unless you have two different thicknesses of table top..

Good morning...

This is hard for us to believe. .... Our oldest daughter is having her 45th birthday today. ... (She and her family live in Grand Rapids, and she works for MI State police. Two of our grand children are hers )

Garry: I thought you and Shelly were still a couple of young kids. LoL Congrats!

Sounds like I'm echoing Terry, but Good Morning, it's 52°, and overcast. We have already reached the days high, and snow flurries are in the forecast for tonight.

David: I attempted to reply to your PM, but your box was full.

Like back when I was working, I'm living on 6 hours of sleep / day.

Say Joe: Thanks for alerting me, I went into the folder area before and thought I had emptied it but didn't empty the sent messages. It's empty now.

Ok guys one last post before bed. Track plan is complete and all is left is setting up my loco storage track.

Major events for me today, had a train ride for the first time in many, many years (suburban MU's) and the first time I've ever seen standard gauge track (albeit dual gauge with 3'6", which spoilt the effect a bit) along the line on Brisbane's south side that serves the Port o' Brisbane, Queensland/New South Wales interchange. Although I'm told it's more of a case of container traffic unloading from ships at the port and heading either north or south, rather than anything from each direction, going to the other. Still fascinating. I remember being equally enthused as a child when arriving at a tram (streetcar) terminus, insisting on seeing where the rails ended.

My Uncle was IMPRESSED with the layout! (and I don't really consider it a "layout"...yet, it's just a 'bunch of track' right now!) I had no clue he was into trains. He does not have a layout but that may change now that he knows about DCC! He was an Electrician so he 'got it' very quickly and was asking good questions that I could actually answer! Can't wait to see my niece's boys down here both under 10 and full of bounce, good boys both and I know they will like it! The 'older' ones in their teens and twenties 'act' like the are not interested but then they don't leave the basement for some reason and will 'reluctantly' take up a throttle and start getting 'younger'! LOL! I'll try to get some crap-top pics tonight.

Good Morning All. A little warmer this morning, it's clear and 37 degrees, looking for a high in the mid-60's for the next three days. Then it's back to the 70's from Tuesday through Saturday. I cut more wood yesterday, I don't need anymore but we have a saying here in Texas "Make hay while the sun shines". The trees are already dead.
Sherrel - It's definitely not a rattler although the markings are almost identical. No rattle and too docile.
Curt/Karl - Skunks are rather common in these parts. The one I pictured was too immature to spray. For the most part, they don't spray around here unless provoked. The buzzards love them as long as they are roadkill. Among other creatures frequenting my neighborhood are coyotes, bobcats, deer, armadillos, raccoons, possums, wild turkeys and a lone mountain lion which I have spotted 5 times. He hightails it away when he sees me however so the few times I was able to take pictures, they didn't turn out well. There is a "Corps of Engineers" flood control lake about 300 yards across the road from me that has water in it all year long, so it is the "watering hole" of choice for all of these creatures. Most creeks and stock ponds dry up in July-September here.
Terry - Valance looks good and I love the trees. Please come visit me and make a few hundred.
Chet - I'd rather see pictures of trains than pictures of snow. LOL Here's one of my pool deck taken in '08:
03-10-08 005.jpg

They don't have snowplows around here so we were snowed in for three days that year! They finally showed up with road graders when the county emergency teams complained that they couldn't run ambulances or firetrucks.
That's it for now, off to the train shed until it warms up a little so I can do chores outdoors without bundling up. That's usually around 1:00 after my nap.

Good morning!! 8f. Yes, EIGHT degrees and clear. Brr.
Getting ready to head towards LASM's territory for Grandson's hockey tourny. Son and DIL made it up and are going with us.

Curt: Great looking F's!

Thanks for the responses on the valance project. I'll keep plugging away if you guys think it looks ok. BigE, in the first photo the pieces on either side of the aisle hang down about 6" more than the other valance. I had to make it lower there to get around the heating duct soffit. I thought I'd trim them at a 45 degree angle to take away the square edge look.

Garry: funny cartoon!

That's about all for now!

COLD out today, got the house all cleaned and polished up for the peoples, the Turkey is cooking and sis is bringing a big ole ham, should have about 20 or so in here today and I still can't believe it's happening at MY house! I was the one that was never going to HAVE anything and now I have EVERYTHING! Life is so strange.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Good morning .... Coffee and a cheese Danish please.

Toot ... Sounds like interesting train riding. I would like to see what they look like.
Chessie ... Looks like you have plenty of locomotives for your layout.
David in CA .... Yep....and I don't look a day older than 95.
Willie ... I agree seeing trains is better than snow. However, there are some ool photos of trains in snow. Videos of railroad snow plows are interesting too.
New Guy .... Turkey and ham ...... Yum .... BBy the way ... How can a New Guy have over 2,000 posts ?
Terry in Wisconsin ......... I always like your photos because of the trees.
.........
