Afternoon, everybody! 37,rain and yucky out. Good day to spend working on the layout, until the Packers play.
Valance work progresses 8' at a time. Got about 80' up. I'm sealing/painting the un-seen side white, so I have to wait for it to dry before ripping the sheets. This weather isn't conducive for that. It doesn't seem to dry any faster when I watch it, either.

You guys are cracking me up! "Depends" !! LOL!!!

Big E, Take care of the eye! Might wanna try putting a patch on? Just to keep it closed so it'll start healing. Plus you could talk like a pirate. Bonus!! AAARRRGGGHHH.
That's all for now!

Hello everybody !

Chet ... Your NP Geep is absolutely fantastic!

MY NP 208 is also an Athearn Geep, and it was detailed based on photos of other NP Geeps which did have dynamic brakes.

I completed another Woodland Scenics white metal casting kit. ... This time it is a bulldozer. Parked next to it is an old dump truck I made from a white metal casting kit a few years ago. The dozer still needs some weathering.

I hope everyone is having a nice Sunday !

Great shots matey!

Gees.... you all pickin on little ole me?
As of right now I'm keeping that eye open - now. Not earlier.
It's a bit foggy but not like it was last night or even this morning.
Much better now than it was earlier for sure.

As to those long-living genes. I don't know. A crap-shoot. Grandpa Palmer had a massive heart attack and died immediately. Grandpa White just kind of wiltered away after also having a heart attack.

Have the tracks on that dozer got individual links Garry? Or are they just formed to look like they have?

Joe, is your MIL capable of an assisted care facility? My Grandma Palmer is in one and she's 95 almost. She's pretty much blind but her mind is still 100% and she had the where-with-all to even to give me a call on my birthday a few months ago. In my Grandma's case she turned over all POA and financials to my Aunt Elaine since she can't see. No one has had their hand in the cookie jar so to speak without Elaine's knowledge and OK. However, she was at a facility a couple years ago where there was some suspicion of abuse. They moved her elsewhere - much to her pitching a fit about it. But she's since acclimated (for lack of a better word) to the new place and is super happy and loves it.
My Grandma White ("Granny") on the other hand is completely "out of it" mentally. Dad is in complete control of her finances - has been for many years now. She'll be 98 this coming March.

Sounds like your situation is quite different however. I haven't quite got the whole story but I you talking doing your own "forensic accounting"? Gods what a pain!! I wish you the best of luck. Sounds like you're getting a handle on it though.
Eric

Eric: Going through the financial records is quite tedious, I'm totally exhausted. They saved records from the '90s, and have numerous credit cards, some never activated, numerous banking accounts, and at least two brokerage accounts to sift through. Not that there is a great fortune here, just the fruits of a life long frugality. FIL was a Steelworker, always saving for the next strike. He passed away some 15 years ago. MIL has missed his guidance, and has been overly generous to some people.

In any event, once she buckles down and does her rehab, assisted living will be perfect for her. Once we finish taking over the rest of her financials, she should be able to live comfortably.

Howdy, toot ! .... They are formed in the cast metal. ... I left them unpainted.

It was the dips in the treads between rollers that made me wonder. One of the Guys at my AMRA club has some 1:87 dozers with actual metal linked tracks, but the maker's long gone. I hate the rubberised plastic, or whatever it is, they use on most models in that scale. There's a kit that comes up in the photos at the top of the Forum pages that has highly detailed plastic ones, but likewise they are extinct as well. A real pity. Rubber just simply can't form that true appearance.

Good morning, good afternoon and good evening.

Spent the day flying. We're under a winter storm watch starting this evening and the day was so nice this morning I figured I could get some hours logged as it can be difficult in the winter. Started getting a bit bumpy as it was easy to see the weather front coming in. Time to hit the deck.

борис циник - Hope you're able to get things figured out. That's a lopt of records to go through. Good luck.

Garry - great photos, as usual.

Was talking with friends about how many new products are being put into grocery stores today. They're just getting bigger and bigger in order to be able to display and carry as many as they can. I can remember grocery stores when I was growing up and they were no where near what they are today, but back then you cooked from scratch and there were no prepared foods like we have today. Heck, the cereal isle today is almost as big as an entire grocery store was back in the 50's. Thankfully, for the most part, we still cook from scratch. My wife and I really enjoy cooking and experomenting with new meals.

Sometimes simpler is better.

Evening All,

Had a nice supper tonight. Well, we were getting ready to head to the Navy Exchange this morning when MOH says "We have already waited several days so lets go to Lowes" (the one in the neighboring town), I said OK. We bought a front loader on sale and got an additional 10% off for military service (pays for tax and a little more) and it will be delivered on Wednesday. It was actually a pleasant experience. It only took about 20 minutes from entering the store to leaving. I really think MOH didn't want me lifting the machine and possibly hurting my back...once again.

BigE- To me web page issues are computer issues. I lump everything together since I know next to nothing about computers or associated things.

Garry- Great scenes as usual!

Montanan- Excellent detailing on the market.

Here is an older photo of my coal pier before adding more details.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Dag gum Chet!!! You went flying. Piloting an aircraft I assume.
I did a little indoor flying of my helicopter today.
Way easier flying that than the quad-copter but not near as much fun.

Hey guys
SWMBO'S birthday today, so we're at Outback Steak House , killing time before the the ribs come, thought I would stop and say hi! ! So Hi!!

I did get a little model repair stuff done today. The RIP track is getting slowly beaten down.

Hi all. At one point today it was 64 degrees. A little strange for the middle of iowa in the middle of December. It's been raining all day too. I am sure by next month we will pay dearly for these temperatures.

A moist 60 degrees out today, not really December weather. Getting the house in shape for visitors, my Uncle is going to FREAK when he sees the basement! LOL! He's a retired Master Electrician and has been around enough building sites to know a good job of carpentry when he sees it! The last time he was here it was...not the same.

It's know as a bird dog. They were used for spotting by the Army.

Ya, you're the guy with the awesome layout space cluttered with Piper Cubs! (oh, the vertical!) LOL! Oh well, I do suppose such Modern Renaissance Men such as 'we happy few' here need the proper room for each of our many pursuits. I know how it can be.

'Das Boy' is itching for a drone for Christmas, I know, I tried to talk him into wanting a DD40 or an awesome Steamer, 100 metal wheels, something cool, but no dice.

Conversion can be a long process, all you can hope is that one day he'll have his "Road to Damascus". (buy him his drone, maybe it'll get stuck in a tall tree too)
