Good Morning All. Clear and 74°, upper 90's again today. It's interesting that we have not yet reached 100° here this summer! Yet many of you guys a lot further north have gotten there? It's been in the forecast and we have hit 99° many days, but still no triple digits. By this time last year, we had had over a dozen, with 55 days total all summer. Heck, last summer we hit 110° 3 different days, and the latest 100° day was September 24. No year beats 2011 though, with 71 occurrences according to my gardening records.

Busy morning yesterday, X-Ray adventure was quick and painless, grocery trek was quick and easy, other stops were the same and I made it home by 12:40. Once again, my wife sat it out at home which made individual stops shorter. She mainly didn't want to sit around at the imaging center. I took it easy afterwards until I hit the train shed.

Today I will hit the yard activity again in the morning only. I do need to mow the yard after the rain Monday. I'll be doing the south side first since I can now mow the jungle that grew underneath the fallen tree that I removed Wednesday. Then I'll start rotating east and probably get most if not all of the east side done.

Yesterday out in the train shed, I only ran trains and did no project work. Always a relaxing time.
Here's a few figures in action from the archive.

Chet - Garner's Market took the worst hit from the water. Walls and roof were warped badly and many glue joints separated. I was able to spray a tiny bit of water on some before weighting them down for a couple of days, and I added some really stout pieces of stripwood as stiffeners when I reassembled it. The peel and stick trim went back on with some Gorilla Super Glue. As you might have seen, I had already added about a dozen figures to the scene. I was determined not to lose that fine structure. I see it in a few of the pictures that you posted yesterday.
Chad - Like your dad, I bought my first Honda Civic in 1987, and drove them exclusively until 2017, 2 years after I retired. I sure miss that manual transmission. They were all great commuter cars, 2 I passed down to kids and 4 I traded in.
David - That war in Ukraine has been blamed for a lot of things that I don't feel have any connection to it! Take gasoline prices for example, They went up even though we make the damn stuff here in Texas! The war was used as a cover for other politically motivated reasons.

Today is National French Fry Day. Enjoy them. Make mine with ketchup.
Everyone have a great Friday.

Good morning from an island Paradise at 4am local! Pearl Harbor was as usual neat, inspiring, sad and crowded! We did have a good time and the flights coming and going were uneventful. Sunrise is at 5:52 today and it will be warmer in Wisconsin (85) than here on Maui (82). The differences in humidity still let Maui win though.

Golf at 9 this morning and the girls have decided to do a Wisconsin Friday night fish fry today, minus the perch, blue gills and Walleye. They were online last night looking for local substitutes. This could be interesting.

Enjoy your day

I agree, Willie. Even Brexit is an excuse to increase prices.
I'll leave it at that before I put on my 'Political Hat'.

Morning folks

Cloudless, 59, smoke, and a forecast high of 91. Yesterday's forecast was for 93 but it only managed 88 at our place. Hopefully the same scenario today.

The morning's mundane tasks out of the way but another cruel date with the strawberry patch looms. Those things must be cocaine of something similar, just can't bring myself to just let the pocket gophers eat them. I picked a couple gallons of them yesterday.

4 speed, so 1974 or younger. A bit pricey for a project vehicle, but advertized as running. It would be such a cool vehicle for my cross country escapades.
When I was wheeling after buying the new 67 CJ 5, all of my friends were driving FJ40's. It is a good, solid rig, most especially with an easily transplanted small block Chevy under the hood. Good memories.

I had a 1981, 4-door, 2.2L with Automatic Transmission, Plymouth K car, briefly. The car was given to me, 1987 maybe. The dealer said it was worthless as a trade in. (I'll take most anything if it's free) My intention was to go over it, inspect it, sell it, and make a few dollars. I was a MD state inspector and no I would never cheat on an inspection, I lost a few friends, but who needs friend like that!

The body, white paint, red vinyl top and red "leather" looking interior looked good. After repairing or replacing anything it needed. Brakes, tires, battery, belts, hoses, fluids and filters, my Mom saw it. She loved it, so I gave it to her. She drove it for about 10 years, trouble free until she was no longer comfortable driving. Several of her grandchildren have told me of their memories of going shopping and other places with "Mom-Mom". It was a great little car!

Our other car was as I said an 83 or 84 K car in red, 4 door, automatic, and probably had A/C and stuff. It lasted quite a bit longer than the white manual loss leader one. I don’t remember if the red was Plymouth or a Dodge. It was our family car/mom’s car and replaced an old Plymouth Reliant.

Gasoline prices aren’t local. They’re based on world market prices for oil as a basis and then things like refinery issues, etc — more local on top of the base. As Russia is one of the major world producers of oil, yes, the Ukraine War affects world oil prices and hence gasoline prices.

Karl a friend had his fuel pump died in his van and then found out it was just a loose wire going to the pump. I would check that out first.
Swal

With the ignition on, I smacked the bottom of the tank, no joy. I wiggled the harness, still no pump noise. I did shoot carb cleaner into the throttle body, turned the key and she started briefly. All the connections are on top of the tank and unreachable, so in any case, she has to come apart. After 21 years, it wont hurt anything to replace the pump.
It looks easy enough.

I certainly know that. I was metaphorically speaking about the subject.

Only thing I can think to check would be the fuel pump relay.

My Mom's had cold A/C and I never had to touch it! No power windows, it did have a nice AM/FM cassette radio with rear speakers. She listened to AM radio, so it didn't matter to her. I doubt she put 20,000 miles on it the entire time she had it. I was always waiting for my pager (remember those?) to go off. Telling me it left her stranded, somewhere, but it never did. Not bad for a car I didn't have $1000 invested in and it got good gas milage.

The cost per mile was almost as good as my $400, 1976, straight-6 with three speed column shifter, El Camino. All that ever needed was tires, brakes, and a battery in over 40,000 miles. The clutch was thin when I got it, but it held up! No A/C and AM radio with an in the dash speaker.

Well howdy there internet subjects, and those smacking tanks,

Or replacing in bridges in 2 months. I should hire that crew to work on my railroad.

(checks budget) Or I should do the work myself.

popped a blood vessel in my eye overnight. Woke up with a couple sections of the eye totally red.

In other news, I'm on Twitter talking polytics, especially those relating to what occurred last night. Some of you might be surprised by my take. Hit me up if you want my username over there.

Going to see Mom tomorrow for the monthly run. We'll see if Crazy Granny is planning any shenanigans. You never know, she might run for floor representative.

Funny thing though, I'm writing my latest mystery, which centers on the local municipal election in the small town. I'm having a tough time coming up with farcical twists. All the goods ones are happening in real time. ;)

That's enough for now. Here's a pic of my orc's big buddy, the Storm Giant. In progress. I'm still roughing in colors. Eventually he'll get a Ziggy Stardust tattoo on his head, and some cool Glam-Rocker glitter threads.
