Well, howdy there subjects....

Meatloaves are on the on the Kamado.

I wasn't watching the temp, and it got up to 350. So the loaves are almost done at 3:30 local time. We normally try to eat around 5:30.

Wife hasn't started the cornbread yet. But she did cut up her watermellon.

Afternoon all,

99° and clear currently. Got 6 tomatoes in this mornings garden check. Some color showing on some others, but we're having tomatoes for Independance day.

We ate some for lunch with tuna salad. They were good. Pork chops with beets and cucumbers for dinner. The tomatoes are still blooming and setting fruit despite the heat, which is supposed to be a bit cooler tommorrow.

Have a goog evening all...

Seems a bit socialist to me.
Bingo! But we live afterall in a socialist country.
With loans i fully agree, even though i'm stuck with paying my ex's loan because my silly as$ cosigned some of them. The problem lies mostly with how parents teach lack of personal responsibility nowdays. Colleges anyway are just a big scam now and kids are told plain lies about it. Better off to find a trade school or get hired in some shop where the older wiser folks are willing to teach the tricks of the trade (too bad this way is dissappearing though).

Colleges are not a big scam. That does not mean that all college programs are worth it, Or that everyone who goes to college studies something useful. A lot of college programs are worthless and stupid. But a lot aren't. If you're interested in engineering or science etc then it's the way to go. Trade and vocoational schools are also a great idea for many people.

However in most cases it's not necessary to go to some big name college. A lot of the more expensive colleges are total rip offs as they don't offer anything for the huge amounts of money they charge. Most people are much better served by a local community or state college or university than the big name schools.

Gender studies, Communications, undergraduate Psychology, etc are totally useless. Computer Science, various Engineer, pre-Med, etc aren't.

I won't be surprised if they sell for seven, eight billion or more.
Yes nothing would surprise me. What I don’t understand is why local governments bend over backwards, grease up and say to these teams and the billionaire owners we’ll give you anything you need.

Thankfully someone has finally stood up to a greedy NFL team. The Chicago Bears and the NFL made have been stopped. The almost bankrupt, pension deficit City of Chicago has said no to a new stadium but a suburb where the Bears own the land Arlington Park horse track was on have agreed to talk. Let these billionaires build with their own money

It's sad that the government can set up a regime that forces you to sell your assets because of taxes.
The Celtics and the family who own them were fully aware of what the tax issues would be. They should have prepared!

The Wrigley’s who owned the Chicago Cubs had to sell the cubs years ago because of taxes and inheritance. Why didn’t they prepare properly? At the time I believe it was Bill jr who said until then the family had never worried about taxes. The question was why and the response was we pay as a family very few taxes and never thought of it

Personally, tough luck Celtic owners. Your will receive what say $5 billion and owe $2 billion. $3billion is still a heck of a return on the price they paid to buy the team. Plus all the family salaries I’m sure that were on the Celtic payroll.

It’s not a sad government regime, taxes are the law. As billionaires many will pay less taxes than most of us do

You have contradicted yourself in your response. Anyway that second half is exactly what i was reffering to. My ex insisted she needed college degree for her work (banker), well that was a huge pile of 💩. Now she's stuck with loans, i'm stuck with some loans because i stupidly cosigned some of her loans. Some loans went up to 13,5 % interest, if that's not a scam then you've got me😆. Colleges now are a sesspool of the biggest horde of woke nonsense there is. And the program of dumbing out the society is a planned scheme of the powers that be, in order to rule over unable to think for
themselves sheeple. Notice also all those useless studdies which you have listed; most young people who go to college, choose exactly that. There is a shortage of electricians, mechanics, engineers, plumbers, you name it-the jobs which are actually usefull and needed. In my field of work (truck driver), the shortage of qualified drivers persists now for several decades. If you have followed some news recently about Boeing for example, there is a major defficit of qualified aircraft builders. Same goes for the crumbling highway infrastructure. The list is long, and it's getting longer. All because from the youth, people now are thaught instant gratification without even little effort put into work. My dad thought me work ethics, and i mean doing stuff to perfection. I know guys my age who grew up here in the land of plenty, do you think they teach their sons and daughters about doing their work well? Most don't bother, they just hand the kids electronics and leave them to their own devices. And out comes out a horde of rainbow painted hair, flags and absolutely no desire to work and earn for themselves. And that's what is being promoted not only on the college level, but in very sickening way in grade schools.

I can think of only 1 college, university or trade school that was guilty of being a scam.

Jon Oliver's "Last Week Tonight" show has a good recap (from 9 years ago) of several that were "misleading" at best. ITT tech was the one I remember.

Funny, but the scam one never got mentioned on that show.

Oh, and there are still quite a few professional jobs where they advertise College degree required, for stuff like Administrative Assistants. That may have dropped off in the last few years, though with unemployment being so low.

Absolutely!

This morning, a junk mail from a headhunter, implied those Administrative Assistants top out at 58K/yr. How many years at that hypothetical rate, (less taxes), will it take the hypothetical candidate to recover their tuition and fees? I'm not even considering student loan P&I, and I'm using a 4 year public institution, not Princeton.

We have a major software company in the City of Verona that will only hire candidates that were in the top 10% of their frickin high school class. Doesn’t have that grades requirement for college other than they have a degree.

Last week I mentioned the lady in the house behind us was downsized from her Executive Administrative Assistant job a couple months after the CEO she worked for was told to leave. She told me on our Art Fair trip on Saturday after 15 years she was making a 6 figure salary plus bonus. She is a college graduate. It’s not the degree you got in college it’s what you did yourself to find a job

Most of them are scams because of how they are run. So called "college proffesors" take vacations or just "time off" forcing students to extend their stay, or in case my ex's a change of course. The financial sector which is a huge number of people in college, sets up loans which have very high percentage (an example which i already gave). My ex was asking me to help her with tests many times, because the books are written by imbecils. And that's another expense. The material in books is just plain nonsense written like any small print government contract- you can't even tell what you're reading. I'll give you an example which stuck in my head, because i've got litterary pissed off reading it; one question in her history subject (internet test) went like this: "Why there are no colonies after World War II? Basically a lie written into a question, no wonder young people can't even answer simple questions when people like Jay Leno decide to head for the streets with a microphone.

We had the same problem when my eldest was in University (Psychology??????) concerning books, but most can be found online and are free to download, so we just downloaded the chapters she needed, saved a ton of £££££
