Back from the ophthalmologist, gee, that's a hard word to spell, and the good news is that I can still see...20/20 in both eyes. No bad news except I have another appointment a year from now.

John -
On this day in 1993, White Sox third baseman Robin Ventura charged the mound at Arlington Stadium after Nolan Ryan hit him in the shoulder with a pitch. The 46-year-old Ryan caught him in a headlock and threw a flurry of punches.
I happened to be there that day, courtesy of a ticket from a vendor. Crowd went wild especially considering the 20 year age gap between the two! I also got to see him throw a no-hitter a couple of years earlier, his last. I'm not generally a baseball fan, but at the time, a chance to schmooze with vendors and drink beer on their dime was too good to pass up.

I posted earlier today regarding the train shed and the cup of finished figures awaiting dull-coating.

And another cyclist that just needs finishing touches.

I watch an afternoon show (morning here) called 'Wir in Bayern' on BR Fernsehen. Nearly each episode they have a reporter and crew somewhere in München asking random passersby what a certain word means. So far, I've not seen anyone get a word correct. It's either very old German or it's Bavarian. After six or seven people on the street fail to figure out what the word means, a linguistics professor explains the origin, root, and any compounding done to the word.
That would be fun.

Here is an interesting video from the B1M about the civil defense measures in Tokyo to survive the next 100 years. Earthquakes, rain/water, etc

Btw I’ve been up in that Tokyo SkyTree several times. A few times at the 350m observation point and once at the 450m Observation point.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with unpowered b-units... or even those who power their behind units very well.

It's troy again. Happy Birthday Mikey!

Piriformis/sciatica is kicking my butt today (literally). I'm on the couch today, since it hurts to sit in a real chair. But I had errands to do.

Lord Fuzzbutt got his 13 trips around the sun check up. He's getting old and cranky. Poor fellow got his nails trimmed by my wife prior to the vet. Then he had 4 tubes of blood drawn, got three shots, and turned away treats from the vet techs after all the indignity.

He's got to get teeth cleaned, at least one extracted. Hopefully not more than that, since it will be a $1000+ bill at the end of it.

I managed to run two package to UPS and USPS - both ebay sales. Came back, dumped 5 gallons of gas into the car, so I go get ethanol free for the can before the gas price jumps by a dollar on Thurs. The governor here used up all three months of the "tax holiday" he's allowed to apply to gas prices. Indiana will be right back in the near-$5/gal range once the tax holiday ends. It was 3.69 today for regular gas, and $4+ for the Ethanol Free. Added the Pri-G treatment, and now have enough to run the generator should we need to keep the fridges chilibrating.

Then I ate lunch and took a nap.

Similar to Jay Leno's Jaywalking? 😂

Since I recently became interested in sound decoders, I've been researching them for my Japan locos. Seems to be limited to two or three makers with a group of engineers belonging to a group called DCC Alliance of Electronics Works. This group offers the most with sound decoders, sound files, programmers, etc. Their lead shop is called Desktopstation and I've bought stuff from them before and am trying to buy their programmer and a sound decoder.

Problem is they reset their website recently and I have not been able to log in since. They told me to check spam and I told them that nothing was received at all. I told them to delete my account so that I could do a complete reset and registration. Get a once word reply of deleted. So I go back in and get a status that they sent me a password reset. Of course I don't receive anything, but am able to get my order going. Now I find that I have to use paypal since they got rid of the credit card method. I tried several times to see if I missed a button somewhere, but nothing. I tell them about it and no response. Fed up, I sent them a nasty gram this morning that this login issue was with their forum and their shop site and that their lack of response and customer support shows that they just don't give a cr@p. I guess I'm done.

Well, off to see the oftha, ophtha, eye doc. Hope we can finally decide on a date for the surgery. If they tell me I have to do a complete exam again, where I sit around all day with that dang mask on, just to get 10 minutes of actual work done, then I'll be done with it all and not go back. Then I'll go talk to the on base doc and see if they can do it on base. The off base doc has worked on base before.

Good evening, gang!

Nurse just came in to check my vitals. Everything‘s fine still gonna swollen leg issue but at least my blood pressure and heart rate. Everything else is good. As well as my temperature for now. We’re hoping I’ll get through the night without a temperature spike like the last few nights.

Dinner was an awesome cheesesteak sub with real steak, grill cheese, and grill salt and pepper.. I can’t recommend the reason for being here, but I can certainly recommend the food.

Karl,
Good to hear you're making progress. Have they determined the cause of the infection? Scratching a bug bite, ingrown hair, etc?

Well, nice day here today, had lunch with G'niece Emma who leaves next week for college. Gonna be a Nurse like her Mom. We are more like grandparents to her and she was was getting teary when she left. Thankfully she won't be far and is planning on being home every other weekend this semester. And we will certainly drive over to see her. Gotta hunt some more for that other tender, this one might be able to fit, but it just doesn't look "Right" to me. Anyway, hope this gives you all a smile,

Actually went to YouTube and found "Wir in Bayern" by Bayerischer Rundfunk. I didn't find the episodes where they go ask people about words like Michael mentioned (they may be there -- long list of episodes). But the episodes I saw were very interesting. Worth perusing. If you don't speak German you can set YouTube to do auto-translate to English (with varying degrees of success).
