Good evening all. A large Scotch and Lemonade please, Flo. A can of Irn Bru as well.
I am surrounded by ladies who are having a Pamper Session. Playing teaboy and snacks.
I have been in the train toom all afternoon. Did some scenery work and track cleaning. Then ran some trains.
I need to find a cheap brick built station building. When I find it I can build a new station around it.
Afternoon. It's 92F and 54% out here on the patio today. I'm sitting under a clean and running ceiling fan, since I actually managed to get at least that one chore dealt with yesterday.
Beyond that, I'm just kinda meh. Going to do more chores today I think, and see if the latest Starship explosion launch comes off this time. Third time's the charm?
That doesn’t surprise me. Amazon is notorious for not following through with their own policies. A "brilliant" idea today is often abandoned without notice tomorrow or the next day.
Tamales: this is my favorite. Unfortunately, last time I had them at my local Mexican restaurant, there were two thick black hairs in one of mine. Yuk. I think like from someone's beard. Makes me cringe just to think about it. Now I only order fajitas there, since they come sizzling on a hot platter.
Weather: we have been very dry but around average Temps. Not far, there are many areas of excessive rain.
I grew up on the streets of Baltimore, "Bodymore" as known to many and I consorted with undesirable people for much of my youth. I learned early: If you show no fear, chances are you will be feared. That is true for most, except for a few. Meths-heads (tweakers) for instance. They are stone cold crazy!
If you get into a scuffle with a tweaker who is high, hit him hard, hit him often and never let up until he is unconscious. Only PCP can allow someone to take so much punishment as a tweaker can take when they are high. If the tweaker is crashing from a high, he is harmless barley able to move.
Even with this heat my Fall crops survived. Heck, one of my strawberry varieties (Hoods) that are not supposed to produce past June, but is producing a half pint a day now. The Albion variety is an "everbearing" and is still producing a pint a day.
I do everything from seed. I planted the Fall stuff a little over 2 weeks ago.
A Japanese variety of Spinach
Komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach) in the front and Tuscan Kale in the back.
Okinawan sweet potatoes have about a month left to harvest.
Japanese cucumbers are still producing.
These are the "Hood" strawberries. Some white blossoms are visible.
A trip to town today is on my schedule....drop off phone bill with payment, drop off package at post office, get cat litter at Dollar General and stop at the grocery store.
Maybe some train room time if the mood hits me.
The weather is up and down here, 86 today and overcast. I need to mow my lot but just ain't feeling it.

Our local Home Depot does have one or two that regularly are parked in the parking lot. One is Mexican of some sort and then some random others at times. I met this black guy and white woman at Walmart in line, buying all sorts of stuff. I made a joke about it and they said they had a food truck and were sometimes at the Home Depot. Some sort of specialty hot dog. I've been watching for them whenever I'm there or by there but have not seen them parked there. I told them I'd stop by if I ever saw them at HD.
The sausage counter guys outside of home depots are food trucks. Its a food stand and I suspect that Home Depot has some sort of deal with some company, who has "franchisees" in areas to set the stands up, as I've seen similar ones at lots of different Home Depot places.
Yes. Japanese make lots of pickles. But probably not whole cucumber pickles. Sliced. And lots of other vegetables. Pickles are common Japanese and asian food. The wife has these japanese brine packages she brings back from Japan or gets in the asian store to make quick pickles. Put the cucumber slices in other vegetable in a bag and put some of this powder in and let it sit over night.
There is also sunomono, which typically has octopus or squid as well. Lightly pickled cucumbers with slices of cooked octopus. I'm not sure how you make it. I've had it many times at restaurants as an appetizer waiting for the sushi.
