Good morning all, it's 70F here, heading to 79F today! WOOHOO! Yeah rain in the forecast but......70s! And the best part is the next 10 days are supposed to only be in the 80s for highs. Plan is to work this afternoon, then run to my g'niece's volleyball game, hopefully I can make it. I've been working my way through the Lady Jaz's layout thread and am very impressed, not only with her skill, but the fun she has with the hobby. Hopefully she will return. Gonna go refill the hummingbird feeder in a bit, it is low and gotta keep the little guys happy. Hope you all have a fine day.
Jaz is a master weathering artist and has given out some great tips over the full length of my thread: Weathering Rolling Stock, a continuous thread…

Her pictures of her work even without words is worth learning from. If she graces us with her return WE WILL all be better for it

Good morning from Pasadena, Ca where it’s 70f degrees with what felt like strong humidity but the WeatherChannel app says it’s only at 74%. We have stayed at the Pasadena Hotel and Pool approximately 2 blocks from my sister’s condo before. It’s very nice, old times charm and on this trip, NO COFFEE. Nothing in the room, the bar was closed and the attached breakfast shop was not open at 7am. Terry pretended she was desperate but I know better but there was no diet Dr Pepper available anywhere open.

I took my walk basically a coffee run. The place next door. The great LALa cafe across Colorado Blvd isn’t open till 8am, the breakfast restaurant across the side street Mentor was not open. 1.2 miles total spent finding a black coffee for Terry. Damn I’m a great hubby! Coffee has been delivered and Terry is drinking it as she is looking for a different hotel for our couple days here when we come back from Maui. Coffee is a priority for her.

Hit the sack at 11pm, woke at 4:05 and fell to sleep immediately till 6:45. Feeling good

I will come back later but we are going to my sisters in a few minutes where the coffee like in the Wisconsin house is never ending…

Stay well

Re- Jaz. Seen only one posting on the U.K. Forum she has posted on. I believe her husband does the elektrickery, whilst Jaz does the scenery. Maybe there will be another post on Friday.

Myself.. I have managed a couple of hours in the train room. Going back up after afternoon tea.

Another wonderful morning in the Midwest today. I trimmed the sidewalks this morning in preparation to do a small amount of cutting where the fescue grows. The rest of the yard is either dead or dormant.

I came back inside and found out I have no hot water. Down to the dungeon I go with a screwdriver and a multimeter. It's done for.

I know it's been installed every bit of 20 years. I've been here for 15, so it's not like it was unexpected that it would quit on me.

I ordered a 30 gal Rheem from Home Depot that should be here later. Not too much later I hope. The old one is draining and the electrical is disconnected, but I still have to disconnect the plumbing to get it out of the basement. Not exactly how I wanted to start my week, but it's not like I had anything pressing to do either.

Y'all have a great day.

With the water we have around here, that's a bi-annual event here. Even with a water softener they don't seem to last.

I had to run to Costco and pick up the dog's meds. I also found something for me.🥳

Afternoon, folks. It's 93F and 47% out here on the patio today.

Not much going on today. Doing laundry at the moment, then probably play with my track plan more. I lack decisiveness on that score; I do about 60% of a plan, then decide I don't like it for some reason or other, and start over. I'm just about at that point again.

Sigh. I'll build my layout someday...

What I should be doing is cleaning the ceiling fan on the patio (which is disgustingly dirty on top of the blades and thus not being used), and then looking into finding a new pool pump. The latter is really the only big household issue I have at the moment, and I need to get it dealt with.

I have no clue how my pool is still crystal clear with no pump running for a couple of weeks.

This week looks like it's going to be boring, which is probably an excellent thing. I'm going to go try to do a chore or two, then get on with it.

Hopefully I'll get to watch the latest Starship explosion launch today, too, but we'll see if that happens or not. Those are always fun.

Have a great week, folks!

Here for bit! Hello…

The sister and wife told me my plans (thoughts of things to do) are out. They are going to veg out and visit today till 2. . They just spent 45 minutes on the pictures of Vancouver, whale watching and Seattle. They are in the pool side shade having coffee. I just called Uber for 11:45am for the maybe 2 mile ride to The Original Whistle Stop here in Pasadena. I would walk but it’s too hot and humid already.

I know I’ve written here before about the OWS in Pasadena. Great old time shop, reminds me of Trost Hobbies on 63rd Street back in the youth days of Chicago. Lots of brass locomotives in the glass cases and IMOO the best Railroad book section West of the Mississippi River.

Terry and I walked a few too many blocks and back from Andy’s Cafe on Colorado Blvd, home to the Rose Bowl parade. The continuation of big food was added onto this morning. Terry’s breakfast Burrito was not breakfast sized

neither was mine

1/2 of each r in the sister’s refrigerator. Senior priced but not senior sized. Both were excellent

I am sorting pictures from the Amtrak Coast Daylight for showing later

I texted my brother we arrived here safely last night. Did our brotherly things and told him I’ll text Wednesday before we head to LAX. He just texted again now asking if we wanted to come before Wednesday. I said I’ll let him know after I talk to the ladies. With the heat and humidity here in Pasadena being on the beach front in Maui might be more welcoming

Found this walking to my sister’s, yes it works I picked it up and it has a tone

Did you sanitize yourself after touching the phone?🤮💩

Not surprisingly, Wally World is refunding my purchase plus a $5 credit for a future purchase on the order that went to their warehouse and never came out.
This is 4 out of 5 orders that's happened, and I asked the person on the other end of the call what they thought would happen if UPS or USPS didn't deliver 80% of their stuff. Obviously, there was no answer.

And it’s only 25 cents. In California! When I was young they were a dime but I wasn’t that old when most pay phones went to 25 cents.

Of course if they were smart they could reduce the cost of supplying it to almost nothing by using a data base VoIP carriage.

And the end result. Didn't even burn this one!

A touch burnt is fine. I will send u my sister’s address please ship one ASAP overnight. I don’t mean to argue but someone anyone, even a New Yorker please teach California what real pizzas are

No lunch today, still recovering from breakfast. I told the niece I don’t care where they want to go for dinner just no Indian food this time. I also mentioned I’m not the billionaire uncle, I was the uncle working for him. Sometimes the niece goes overboard when I buy dinner, it was a reminder she’ll probably ignore

Not my photo

The picture above is from an article by Denise Boose of Tehachapi, Ca

We were past the one I saw before I realized what it was. I believe it was on the very end of the station platform in Paso Robles, or Similar Valley, Ca. The Southern Pacific cement telephone booths the crews used. I have 2 still in the package from the 70’s when I was collecting SP steam and I built an engine terminal to display the SP fleet I had. I loved the cab forwards
