Good Friday morning! It's 72°F and hazy. Have a great day! ;)

Good morning everyone!

Happy Friday!

Another hot muggy day in store. Currently 70F with a high of 87F. Summer has made her return! Though it didn't get quite as
warm yesterday as they predicted, so maybe there's hope it wont get so warm

Have the usual Friday household chores to accomplish today. Not much else happening.

Last night I started testing ground colors on the layout and struck out twice. Seems two of the brown colors I chose wouldn't work.
One was way too dark for the area I'm modeling and the other had an almost red appearance to it. Perfect for Arizona, but not my
area. I ordered a couple more bottles fro Amazon and they should be here today.

Have a safe day everyone!
You're up early today.

My daughter's the one doing all the guitar work
Rock on! The young lady can play! I was hoping they would break into Edgar Winter's Frankenstein.

Was the signal strength fluctuating?
Everything was cool, until it wasn't! I have had T-Mobile Home Internet for so long I forget the year I signed up. I was one of their first customers when they first started here in Baltimore.

I have the T-Mobile Modem in the living room, With (Hi-Dollar) routers with wifi on each of the other floors. They are both connected through Hi-Dollar) ISDN cables. Never a moment of trouble, normally. I can watch baseball, my grandson streaming games online and my wife watching a movie without an issue. My grandson said our internet is faster than his mother's fiber optic connection from Verizon.

My son helped me set it up, he is the King of Hi-Dollar 💩 He foot the bill and did the work, I didn't complain. I drilled the holes and fished the wires through. My son is a gamer. He said this setup would be best for my grandson, his nephew, to play games. He spoils that boy and me too. My son is an engineer at Northrup Gruman. The perfect job for him, he doesn't cut corners on anything!

In all those years with T-Mobile I have had two problems. The first occurred when they were upgrading the towers near me. That lasted two days. This is the second time. I was told they were doing work in the area, but they sent me an updated modem anyway. The modem hasn't yet arrived but so far so good. I'll let you know after watching baseball.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will pass that on to my son. When I see him, he works too much overtime!

All I know is Technology is great when it works!
Just found it on utube. Bookmarked it as I like watching this kind of stuff. Awesome! Thanks!
You made my day, I'm glad I could be of service!

those watching WWII documentaries wondering who will win the war this time!
I wonder how the Germans lost! Then I realized that is what can happen when a melomaniac is in charge and he thinks he is smarter than everybody else.

I may not be the brightest crayon in the box, but I trust experts. If my house is on fire, I'll call a fireman. God knows blowing hot air won't put it out.
He's really a mini-dragon that loves chili-cheese dogs.
You have got to love a mini-dragon that loves Chili-Cheese Dogs! I may have ran into him at 7-Eleven, they use Oscar Mayer Big Bites. Man are they good! I'll be he likes them too.

It's fire season in CA. It's going to be another bad one unfortunately.

The Gifford Fire had spread to 154 square miles by Thursday afternoon and was at 15% containment. It grew out of at least four smaller fires that erupted last Friday along State Route 166, forcing closures in both directions east of Santa Maria, a city of about 110,000 people.

And a new one started yesterday East of Ventura.

Good morning to all. Yesterday was a miserably uncomfortable day outside after 1pm. As the temperature rose so did the humidity and the winds lessened. I prefer to be outside either on the south deck till about 10:30pm or the north porch the balance of the day. Yesterday the north porch was a dead air zone. So the alternative is the cave and train room. The humidity is high now at 94% but there is a strong 11 wind blowing so it’s not too bad. 72f degrees now and 91 later. The Air Quality is the best this month at 60!

Terry was trying to decide if we were eating out tonight or grilling. I don’t care but then she said something about thinning out the freezer. Now I’m sure we’ll end up eating out because there is nothing pulled out and she always puts the stuff out that needs thawing. I sent a message to the grass cutters parents asking them to bring him over this morning. I like my lawns neat and all of a sudden they have that unkept look.

I have a few more diesels to send out via USPS today. I’m doing the pick up by them thing again. I have a small work table I can and maybe 4 -5 times a month I do weather freight cars on the front porch. It can’t be too humid or windy. I prefer no smoke haze but when it’s right I can do rust streaking out there as the chair I have out there is very comfortable. Today it maybe a bit too high with the humidity but the WeatherChannel app says this afternoon both the winds and humidity even with the rising temps will be less. Maybe!

The neighbor with the kitchen remodel is not happy. She was out walking at 5 this morning as was I. It’s her brother’s company but she was saying she’s not sure she’d recommend them. That’s a wow!

Our neighborhood crazy driver who had the accident out front is being deported. I know this because one of his church committees send out a notice on the Facebook neighborhood page. They were looking for $$$ to fight this “unjust tragedy”. Sorry, break our laws on an expired for over 1 year visa, hit a cop and you deserve deportation. Plus he is a menacing driver without a license! He at least though is getting “due process” under the law, but no he doesn’t belong here. He is now wearing an ankle monitor.

Our trip to Vancouver starting 8/16 is a go. Terry’s corrected passport showed up yesterday delivered by UPS. She talked to the State Department last Monday and they indicated it was still being processed

Enjoy the day

Back after my walk. About 4K steps but I made by 15+ minutes before it got hotter than a political chat on the interwebs... ;)

My latest podcast addiction while walking is the Antietam and Beyond pod. John Banks is one of the hosts, and he writes a blog about the American Civil War. Enjoying their podcast immensely. While I dove into Gettysburg hard and heavy, I've realized that the other battles were just as important, both in manpower, but also in politics of the day. Antietam was one such that gave Lincoln his reason and political impetus to release his idea of emancipation.

If you're of a mind to listen two guys with a love of Banjos (it's their schtick for the intro and outro) to chat with folks knowledgable about such topics you can find the pod and John's blog here:

In other news, I heard back from RMC... amazingly, their subscription link started working right after I hit send on that email to them... The internet gremlins must have been trying to make me grump.

I learned that if one puts in a quantity larger than one on the Quantity field for the subscription, you get that many years. They use Shopify for their cart, and it's not the most intuitive for subscriptions.

And they're able to ship me the two issues I missed from forgetting to follow up.

I have a very good weathering client who works for the LAFD who occasionally will film fire events on his days off. He often sells his videos to media groups and if you watch CBS, CNN or ABC you’ve probably seen his videos. Here’s one for the Gifford and was done on 8/5 or 6th.

That's the way they fought the fires when we were living in NorCal. They'd get a line of D6 dozers to push dirt down into the canyons to form the fire break as they were doing tanker drops. The only difference is that the NorCal CDF used OV-10 Broncos for spotting.

Good Morning All. Clear here and 75°, heading to 102° today. Heat advisory continues for another week. Only hit 98° yesterday, missing the forecast high by a few degrees. This morning's air quality is good at 37, making for a pleasant walk. Encountered a new vehicle/timing today with an SUV that went by at 5:22. I usually don't encounter any traffic at all between the pick up that passes every day at 5:00 until my neighbor leaves for work at 5:30. Fortunately I can see the headlights for 1.75 miles north and I was less than 50 yards from home, so I didn't have to step off the road into the ditch...it's dark here until 6:20 or so.

The weekly grocery trek went OK yesterday, all things considered. On the way to town, just around the corner from me, I encountered the highway maintenance crew putting up cones down the center of over 2 miles of 2 lane road. There were already "Flagman" signs up so I knew that it would be one lane with an escort vehicle when I came home later. I used the alternate route, which while shorter in distance, takes longer to navigate. They're remodeling the Kroger store and have moved some stuff around which made for a more interesting adventure. They're shortening the length of the shelving in some critical areas of the store by 6', to allow more room up front at the manned checkout lanes. Not sure if anything else is planned; that's just what I could see. I know from talking to my neighbor referenced above, that they've decided to emphasize the manned checkouts more and reduce the reliance on self-checkouts. It's being called customer convenience but she thinks that it has more to do with inventory shrinkage. No one has the time to monitor all of the overhead cameras trained on the 20 self checkout registers!
Gas in town was mostly around $2.59 - $2.64/gal, so that is staying low.
New texts yesterday for Cristina from Facebook, inviting her to come back! I could have fun with this if I wanted to take the time!

Hoping to get some of the front yard mowed today. Tractor has a full tank and the rain last weekend has pumped up the grass growth. With the longer nights for the pool to cool off, the water temperature has dropped to 87°. It's always a routine to get in after 45 minutes of mowing and the cooler, the better.

I finished the rest of the ground cover for the fuel distributor out in the train shed yesterday.

It needs some trimming and touching up before I set the structures/equipment back in place.

Joe - You will stand out if you have too fly anywhere. My wife's knees send the metal detector crazy.
Mikey - Some of the folks wanting to buy Cristina's house, turn to me when I tell them that I am the wrong person. They tend to balk when I tell them that it's 14.59 acres.

Everyone have a fabulous Friday. Stay cool and hydrated.
