Good evening all.
Good to hear Boris is back.

Hughie. Grandson is 12 years of age.
It is nearly midnight. This time last night he was in a really bad way and had to have an emergency operation. The Surgeon found the actual cause of the bleeding and removed it
Today Dawn and I visited our grandson. He was wide awake and talking, what he is going to do when he leaves the hospital.
Everybody in charge are pleased of the outcome.

Once again gentlemen, I thank you for the sending of prayers. They do work.

Per the web, Wisconsin is an open carry state so technically no permit needed for open carry. I realize and assume that telling her you were licensed was just to calm her down.

I also realize that you had a specific purpose in open carry and it’s a good reason. I used to open carry back 30 years ago, a lot. Mainly as a statement. I eventually decided discretion is the better part of valor.

I’m licensed for concealed carry. I didn’t want to freak her out anymore. I’m sure if she called the local PD they would have told her they have checked here before about questions about showing the gun. I haven’t put the ankle holster on for at least 6 weeks. I have been to the range as we go monthly

Texas is also an "Open Carry" state. I have only seen one person actually open carry. I my mind, open carrying makes you one of the first targets should you unfortunately be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I often* see open carry here in Utah. Some stores post that they prohibit it. Walmart specifically prohibits (or did a while ago) open carry but said nothing about concealed carry. A bunch of the open carry I've seen was at Walmart. Generally Gen-X or Boomer age with a 45 on the hip. But did see others. Have seen it elsewhere as well.

As I said I used to do it as a political statement back in 1994 time frame (and I'd do it when out walking etc later until I got my permit a little bit later in the mid 90s). I remember once being up on the point of the mountain (Google it) flying model RC gliders all Saturday one day in the summer and I broke some pieces. I had my USP on my side all while flying. A few people glanced at me but didn't really care as far as I could tell. With the broken part I had to drive into Salt Lake County to Sandy to a hobby store** to buy a replacement part. No one said anything but I could tell people were a little more tense in Salt Lake County with the open carry. I was not harassed by the cops but I'd heard they try and get you for "disturbing the peace" despite open cary being legal. I had no such issues in Utah County (Provo/Orem etc). I remember going into Taco Bell with the trusty USP on my side, right now downtown Provo. No one cared. I saw an older couple eating. They had LDS missionary badges on in German. Since that is where I had been as a young missionary I stopped and talked with them for like 20 minutes, standing in Taco Bell with my USP. No one batted an eye.

I eventually decided that it was better to not draw attention to myself. Even with a proper retention holster it still opened you up to being a target plus people who were against self defense and freedom would not be swayed by my political statement. So I stopped open carrying in most situations. I might open carry hiking or something and that includes travel to and from the hiking spot so if we stop to eat or get gas I'll open carry.

* often as in once in a while but often enough that it's not really a surprise
** interestingly called MRS Hobby which is Model Railroad Shop or something like that -- they were a big store at the time with one whole part dedicated to model railroad and slot cars and another separate part to RC -- like two separate stores in a strip mall by the same store a few units apart -- they still exist but have moved a 1/2 mile or so South into a single smaller area. They still do model railroad and RC but also Gundum and other models and also doll houses etc

Great news!!

Because cats never go out of style on the internet:

You know how cats love sleeping on rags and towels and things? I had a napkin next to my dinner bowl. My cat decided to adopt it:

She's afraid of my tiny trains, but does not fear competing for food with a giant human at all!

There is no relation between Italian sausage and brats. Except they both have pork and are sausages.

Both are excellent and awesome. But they're so wildly different.
I was talking more of size, not taste, but didn't clarify well enough. I didn't want to make folks who didn't know the difference between brat-sized sausages think my grill had shrunk and I was cooking breakfast sausage links... 😜

In other news, we have a cat pee sample.

I finally had to lock him in the basement with me. Rotated his litter-robot to a non-functioning angle and turn it off. Then put out the plastic litter pan with the faux plastic litter. He went in about an hour later, came out looking puzzled but he had piddled.

I used the plastic pipette to transfer the piddle to the piddle cup. Went to show it to the lady of the house.

Wife, being a medical lab tech took the container and did her med tech thing - holding it up to the light to give it an exam. Then she had to label it appropriately with date and time collected.

Tomorrow I'll run it into the vet. For now, it's in the fridge (in a sealed jar, in a plastic bag)

More updates to follow as warranted.

Tom, sorry you need to deal with the "problem".

We're an open carry and a shall issue state. Heck, Oregonianstan is surprisingly an NFA item friendly state too.

There's a couple of retired LEO's working at the gunshop I consult/contract for. They said that guns really don't intimidate bad guys 100% of the time. They're used to it, but dogs cause instant fear because they never hesitate or bluff.

You need a dog.

Terry is deathly afraid of dogs so that will never happen. The gun took about 4 years of serious discussions that we needed them for our own protection. It really was stupid of me to display it but after the 2 tires lost their air I figured I better be safe than sorry. I don’t think I’d have an issue but just in case.

Good evening at 10pm here in Wisconsin. A fairly gorgeous day that was ruined by 2 things, a blocked mailbox and smoke haze. The Air Quality warning continues till midnight Tuesday and does NOT seem to have lessen IMO!

The mailbox blockage, a freaked out dog walker and now a furious neighbor who is the one getting her kitchen re-done. The neighbor came over and bitched about me harassing the guys working on her kitchen. I looked at her ranting on my front porch and asked,”Rose, do you want to see the security video?” She said yes, saw the guy and heard him say call the cops. She apologized and 15 minutes later a company truck doing the re-do was in her driveway. Turns out it’s her youngest brother’s company. We talked about 20 minutes and I mentioned the neighborhood FB warnings about his company trucks blocking driveways and mailboxes. I told him to talk to the USPS as they have complaints from their carriers about the trucks blocking mailboxes per my delivery person. While I think he wasn’t surprised he acted like he was. There was no apology given though.

When I was carrying daily it was concealed carry using the ankle holster under a pair of jeans or dress slacks. Terry kept her weapon in her purse! The last couple years though many more establishments are saying NO GUNS allowed. They weren’t distinguishing between open or concealed carry so more and more I was leaving the gun in the gun safe in the car. I always woke the cop up who pulled me over for alleged speeding or a tail light was out. Any weapons in the car? Yes officer, while my hands remained high on the steering wheel. One time I heard an “oh sh..” when I answered that way. That and being asked politely by officers who could recognize the ankle holster tell on my left leg, are you licensed? There is always one in the car safe and Terry still carry’s in her purse to places she knows are not signed. While we are not big gun people there came a time years ago we needed (wanted) a little bit of the extra security feeling it offers. In the last 2 houses previous to this one we had a weather safe space/safe room. It’s where the gun safe and 2 of the rifles were kept and where we slept one night through a F1 tornado that went through the property. That was scary!

The security cameras on the house have been re-checked and are working fine. The neighbor did say the kitchen should be done Thursday so I will stay aware. I’d rather play with trains.

Sorry to hear about your idiots today, that always makes for unpleasant memories. I'm retired LEO, 26 years dealing with violent felons courtesy of Illinois Department of Corrections. Please stay safe and alert. Glad to be out of Illinois and do love living in the free state of Arkansas. Working in a gun store, I regularly open carry as it is more comfortable, but even when not working I always carry. I have had a couple of comments when open carrying, but it's been complimentary. Sad, that our society has devolved into the state that carrying is needed.

I was able to get some dwarves painted. Thanks to Troy, I found a guy. He's stationed in Korea in the Army and actually had time to do this stuff. He recommended a place to get the figures, so I picked a package, he ordered them and painted them. I wasn't much help with the painting part as he got the typical where do you want to go for dinner type answer.

I told him he had artistic license as I saw his previous work. His work ethic was outstanding as he gave me updates on his progress. I told him to take his time and when he told me that he finally had some free time to do some painting, I told him he should have taken those days off instead. I know the military schedule and a lot of times, there isn't one, so you gotta take your stress relief when you can.

Anyway, I got them staged kinda how I plan to use them. Some of these guys are always drunk and can't stand up on their own. Need to figure something out.
