Per the web, Wisconsin is an open carry state so technically no permit needed for open carry. I realize and assume that telling her you were licensed was just to calm her down.

I also realize that you had a specific purpose in open carry and it’s a good reason. I used to open carry back 30 years ago, a lot. Mainly as a statement. I eventually decided discretion is the better part of valor.
Texas is also an "Open Carry" state. I have only seen one person actually open carry. I my mind, open carrying makes you one of the first targets should you unfortunately be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those with sexy legs.

It's Troy again

Made a grocery run this morning, and picked up two packs of italian sausages (like brats)... just pulled them them off the Kamado:
smoking.jpg

Pic from about half-way done.

Once they cool enough, I'll put them in the freezer. Plan on slicing them up, and using them in a Sausage and peppers rustica recipe with either penne or rotini. That will be later this week.

Right now the grill is super hot, as I use up the old charcoal from the last few cooks. Doing a high heat (600 f degrees) cleaning cook to burn off the grease.

Also stopped by the vet's this morning. I lined the wall on the stair landing with puppy training pads. Cat peed on two of them (each corner) over night.

Vet gave me a bottle of non-absorbent crystals to put in a clean litter tray. We're trying to get him to use the box so I can pour off the urine and take it in for testing.

About an hour ago, wife heard him yowling on the stair landing... he wanted to use HIS CORNER but I had the box with the crystals there. He ran upstairs to my bathroom where the backup litter box with clumpy litter is. So wife ran up with the clean box and non-absorbent crystals...

So he ran into the basement and used his main box. She might have scared him from using the specimen gathering box. If so, we'll lock in him a bathroom with a bowl of water, and the special box for a few hours.

Plinkoed through the jungle gym
I did that, only we called them the monkey bars. I took three quick leaps to the top and called the lady who raised me. No sooner than she looked; down I went. I still have a small notch in my jaw, you can't see it, (I still have a handsome face 😁) but I can feel it with my fingers.

"Plinkoed" perfect description!

On one of the yootoobe channels I watch, the guy that does the narration calls everybody with a name he can't pronounce, "Dave"...
That is a guy I could work with!

When I coached youth baseball, in addition to my team I was consulting other teams. I struggled to remember all the names. I called the kids whatever name came to mind. It was better than hey you. With my booming voice everybody heard me and turned to see if I was calling them. One look and saying, "yes you", did the trick. Unbelievably the kids loved me. More than a few of them still keep in touch with me.

Going back to the hospital shortly
Our prayers are with you.

Word from the hospital:
No baby yet, 31 hours in labor.
I feel for all of you and my prayers are with all of you.

My ex-wife went on at 10am on a Wednesday morning to have labor induced. My daughter was born at 5?11pm on Friday. Nature will take its own course.

The winds off of Lake Michigan can be brutal! They give and they take!

It has to be a real disadvantage to an American league team that doesn't play there often.
"Friendly Confines" my 🫏!

I felt so bad for our new super utility man Jeremiah Jackson playing right field. He played the ball perfectly, even tried to use two hands to make the catch. The wind knocked it down and it glanced off his glove. Just inches short of falling into the pocket. He did what all fielders do when making an error; he looked at his glove after throwing the ball to the cutoff man. "Nope, no hole" To make matters worse the announcers didn't mention the wind. welcome to Baltimore. It is no wonder so many Orioles fans are uninformed. Now they think the poor guy can't catch. Like Brooks or Cal never made an error.

I went to our favorite auction site to leave some feedback a few minutes ago.
Interestingly, after I entered my feedback and a very brief description of why I left that feedback, the site’s AI seems to have taken over and added much more to my feedback than I originally provided. I guess in the future, instead of any text at all, I’ll simply leave a single character or letter in the additional comments area.
Weird…
That is weird!

Tom, sorry you need to deal with the "problem".

We're an open carry and a shall issue state. Heck, Oregonianstan is surprisingly an NFA item friendly state too.

There's a couple of retired LEO's working at the gunshop I consult/contract for. They said that guns really don't intimidate bad guys 100% of the time. They're used to it, but dogs cause instant fear because they never hesitate or bluff.

You need a dog.

Déjà vu???

Good day to all.............

Still working on a drafting project for an old customer so not much else going on.

I bid on a new Athearn streamlined Burlington RPO kit a while back on flea-bay. The bid started at $0.30. I put $2.00 as my max bid. Shipping was $8.85. On Saturday evening I had an e-mail saying I had won the item and that I needed to pay now. I could not believe I won the item with the 30 cent bid.......no other bids. I almost feel bad for the seller. Without a doubt the best deal I ever got on flea-bay. I wanted the RPO to run with an express C B & Q train maybe some day.

I was able to pick up a box of 25 pieces of 36 inch long, code 83, Peco track for $150 plus $15 for shipping on the HO sale forum. I thought that was a deal after checking out code 83 track prices. I find the Peco code 83 works very well with the Micro Engineering track I purchased several years ago. The Peco works better on straight runs and the ME track really holds its shape in curved situations. It seems track prices have just gone out of site, much like the prices on the new Broadway Limited steam locos.

92 degrees for a high today here in west Texas but 105 degrees forecasted for Thursday.......the high for this week. A good soaking rain a couple of days ago has really got the weeds on the grow.

Rather a lame report for today but thats about it. Hoping to get in the train room around Wednesday.

Take care....John

Afternoon, folks ("morning" for me)! It's 88.5F and 55% out here on the patio today at 4:30PM local. Still haven't gotten any rain, sadly. Could quite probably use some.

I need to start waking up earlier.

Never got around to posting yesterday because I woke up late, then had to rush to get myself together and out the door for a belated birthday dinner my parents were taking me out for. Tokyo Steakhouse. Yum!

I have leftovers to last a day or two. Their Godzilla Filet Mignon is great!

Sadly, we had one of the most lackluster chefs in the place, apparently. She was a decent cook (though far from the best we've had there), but barely even half-assed the little show they do. Not a huge deal -- I go for the food -- but disappointing nevertheless.

By the time I got home I was all peopled out and just kinda hung out and buried myself in random fiction. I think I've said before, I do that sometimes.

I have no clue what I'm doing today, other than breathing a sigh of relief at the state of the stock markets after Friday's mess...

He had a major operation through the night.
Hope he gets better soon!

My mailbox is 100% blocked and I asked the gentleman if he would back up 10’ and he said call the cops.
Sounds to me like someone else was the jerk, TBH.

The gun in the ankle hostler did freak out a dog walker already. I told her I’m licensed to carry. She thinks I’m “appalling”.
This... makes no sense to me.

If she says she thinks you're appalling, it's presumably because she believes the weapon strapped to your ankle marks you as overly inclined toward lethal violence. And yet, she insults you by calling you "appalling"... to your face?

She might think you're appalling, but I might think she's a flaming idiot. :)

And I have a great-granddaughter.
And a very happy birthday to the new great-granddaughter!

Good to see you back! Hope the pneumonia is all taken care of and you're feeling better. :)

Welcome to the week, folks! Have a good one!

I had a very pleasant afternoon in the company of my wife as we traveled to a overcast rural winery.
As the only visitors, we were able to spend a lot of time asking questions and tasting the Muscadine wine mixes at our pace.
The attendant was very pleasant and explained the various wine blends. I agreed that the most popular wine consists of the Carlos variety of muscadine grapes. It is slightly sweet and the golden color of premium gasoline.
My wife's favorite wine is a peach blend made with peaches grown in the next county over.
We wound up getting 6 varieties of wine to further sample at home.
Our new low maximum temperature of 77 F was the result of scattered showers, so we did not try to go to the HEART OF DIXIE museum.
Maybe next time.
