Nice looking refinery there, DAVID ... I am a huge fan of anything to do with oil!
Drilling, production, transportation - pipelines, trucks, trains, and ships. Did I cover them all?

Just for you then Sherrel.

There is no way to convey a clear glass finish there, so I have to use silver paint to simulate glass.
Willie: The silver is effective, from a distance. I seem to recall someone recommending gloss black, but I have my doubts.

Happy Birthday to the man with a charmed life. His exploits seem mild, compared to some of his successors.

Yeah, The continuous heat has got to be getting old...it was 59° on the front porch this morning. 54° at the Rutgers station. Some of the Red Maples seem to be turning already. Extended forecast 80° today, 87° Tomorrow, 90° Monday, then upper 70s. How 'bout that Tropical Cyclone bearing down on Sherrel?
Sherrel & Boris to many of today's horses have the Strom Cat breeding lines. Thin legged fast miler type horses. Built for speed not durability.
Swal
George: That was the breeders goal back in the 70s, when first wife was riding at Devon, and her dad still had connections with the Riddles. Learned a lot then, but that was a long time ago, and I haven't been near a track or a horse in decades. Problem is that almost all ankle injuries result in the animal being put down. Cost of doing business.

I've seen the ads from Bowser, train word and others, I think the marketing folks don't have a clue as to what a hammerhead is.
Must be the new buzz word. It is amazing what mileage one can get out of a single unit though, the single PRR unit bought for a specific task - protect engine and helper - had two PRR numbers and paint schemes, was assigned to the LV for a third scheme, then conveyed to Conrail, which had it rebuilt into an AERS-12 with a 567 from a retired E7 or E8.
The problem here is internet. Most of these guys instead of grabbing a book and spending some actually deepening their knowledge, just swipe on a site which has a mistake carried over
Really. So many internet/blog articles and TV commercials are that way.

Good Morning All!

And I forgot. Found out yesterday that the Edge is having air conditioner compressor problems. Grease was coming out of the pulley at the front of the thing and growling pretty good. Doing some research told me that we would be looking at about 4 grand to get that fixed. Compressor is cheap, requires a engine lift to get at it along with the removal of the dash to get to the water remover thingie ( in the dash ) and complete flush/renew of the conditioner coolant system. This thing has 220K miles on her and more would be needed to be done to get it up to snuff. Water pump is inside the block and has not been looked at. That would be another 5K or so. Welp, already knew I have rear bearings going out and brake rotors/calipers need renewed, so we spent most of the day car shopping. Found a '14 Expedition in our price range and would work for Maria's pygmy goat trips. Find out more Monday on that.

Since we were out in the heat almost all day, we did go to the bar for a few. Wanted to see 'The Cruise' and the neon/flamethrower stuff, but it was just to hot so we skipped it.

Anyway, the most cars I have seen at the show was 460, probably around 200 this year. Here is what the street looked like when I went down earlier:

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those making Monica jokes.

It's Troy again.

Doing my second favorite activity today. Can you guess what it is?

That was earlier this morning about 8 am. I went for some short walks after lighting the grill, and misjudged the second one. The dome got up to about 350° (f) and I had to work to get it to slow down its race. I was shooting for a 7-8 hour cook, but was showing a 3.5 hour cook this morning after about 30 minutes in the grill.

Now I'm bumping the grill temp back up because it's showing almost 6 hours left. The butt is in the stall zone at the moment. I'll give it another 30 minutes. If the temp doesn't start climbing, I'll add a foil boat.

Wife is baking. I might get cookies to munch on. Report will follow if I do.

Afternoon All,

Had another horrible night last night despite 50 mg of Benadryl. Went to bed at 9 pm and finally fell asleep after 1 am. I did a few chores around the house today, then after a bowl of soup laid down for a short nap. I feel a little more refreshed now. I'm sure the same is in store for tomorrow.

In good news it appears the white "misting" in the water feature is slowly getting smaller. It's about half the size it originally was.

Hughie- Nice looking build.

TomO- Nice looking truck.

Willie- I was wandering about the windows on those kits. Now I know.

Todd- Great car and truck photos.

I hope everyone has a good night.

was a lead off hitter most of the time - I had good speed and was a "shallow hitter" - choked up on the bat and would hit just over the infield. I never let a pitch go by that I could reach!
All these guys always swing for the home run hit - very seldom do I see a guy choke up on the bat!
That is a lost art my friend!
This guy won two batting titles choking up.

Willie Keeler played 19 years in the major leagues, split between the 19th and 20th Centuries. His .341 batting average is one of the highest of all time. His best year was 1897, with the famous Baltimore Orioles, when he hit .424 to lead the league and was a teammate of John McGraw, Hughie Jennings, and Wilbert Robinson. He hit .350 or better for seven consecutive seasons from 1894 to 1900; only Ty Cobb has more.
"Hit 'em where they ain't" is what William H. "Wee Willie" Keeler used to say when he was asked what made him a great hitter.

Good afternoon, all! I was out earlier and the temp thingy in the rearview mirror said 102. They are forecasting a 50% chance of rain on Tuesday. O got a couple of pine trees that could use a slow soaking rain.
Not much happening at the Hobo camp.

TomO - The loaded Badger women got a couple super portal transfer players from Minnesota and northwestern. Should these ladies be playing drunk??? 😆😆😆😆😆
Troy - What time is dinner?
Willie - You need mud flaps on that truck, with the stainless steel nudes.
Karl and Boris - I don't think I ever saw a hammerhead, shark several, but never a train.

Just about completed the warehouse build. Some final details and then plant.

Welp... I made a $18 mistake about the smallest part possible....

I was using the airbrush to prime a model for the gaming table... and when cleaning it, I skipped removing the needle before removing the needle guards and fluid nozzle... Caught myself as I was unscrewing the fluid nozzle... the thin little piece the needle sits up against until I pull the trigger to move the needle back and let paint flow.

Screen Shot 2023-08-19 at 8.05.17 PM.png

Fluid nozzle was still attached, but loose, so I decided to pull the needle, so I didn't bang it up (I"m a klutz) and need to order a new one.

Yep... pulled the needle, and the fluid nozzle jumped off the airbrush. I heard it bounce once, then not sure where it went.

I got the broom, and the flashlight. After searching the area with flashlight, moving lots of boxes, a 3D printer, etc... no nozzle. So time to sweep the room. On my knees, I went through every pile of dust and detritus... no nozzle.

And, Amazon doesn't stock the one I need. Independent seller can get it to me late next week.

fine, I'll go through Midwest Airbrush. They're out of Chicago area. So, I should have it in about the same time or faster. Ordered a back up needle while I was at it. Just because I was already paying for shipping. Might as well get a spare.

Fortunately, I still have a cheap Iwata Neo airbrush, and the hose fits. I can do the last two colors on the model

Good Evening All. At 8:00pm, it's still 104° outside, but it only made 105° today. A definite difference from yesterday.

In a minor follow-up to my cataract surgery this past Wednesday, I was told in the pre-op prep (and the previous one as well), that they were inserting cotton balls in my eye prior to dilation. I don't know why and didn't ask, nor did I see them. They were supposed to be removed prior to the operating room. Imagine my surprise this morning when I took the overnight eye shield off, and out popped a very small cotton ball; maybe 3/16" in diameter. I assume that it was there in my eye since Wednesday, under the lower eyelid!!! Never felt it and there has been no discomfort, but still. How did they miss that during the surgery and the follow-up visit on Thursday??? I am not sure that I can fault the doctor on Thursday since he was just looking at my pupil with a magnifying machine. Questions will be asked on Tuesday at the week after follow up appointment.
I googled but could not find a reason for the insertion to begin with.

A semi-educated guess would be the cotton balls would help absorb excess moisture from your tear ducts during the procedure.
I can tell you that is not the first thing med people have forgotten. That's why they count sponges before closing during surgery. And they forgot to tell me when I was supposed to have sutures removed following surgery I had.

A baseball question:

If a batter is up, with one out, two runners on, and let’s say the batter has a strike or two already, and the two runners try a double steal and both get tagged out. Does the batter get to bat all over again the next time his team is at bat or does he have to wait for his turn all over again? (i.e. go to the end of the line.)

Spraygunner.com perhaps, if Amazon can't get it. Amazon sources a lot of stuff from Spraygunner anyway--I think they, Sg.com, are part of the Amazon marketplace.

I bought a Procon 289 .3mm airbrush from Amazon last month for a slight premium over direct, based on the good "Prime" ease of returns, and the fact that Amazon would reship if needed (lost), while Spraygunner would consider it lost, if not insured. However, I did just order direct from Sg.com and saved $25 off Amazon's price on another Procon airbrush/spraygun (the PS 290) with free USPS tracked shipping. As it happens, that airbrush/mini-gun was just $99, off the normal $140...but more importantly, Spraygunner had the add on 10x sized cup, while Amazon didn't. Since I was gonna have to order from Sg anyway for the big cup, I just cut to the chase and went direct.

Same batter leads off next inning with a new count, O balls, O strikes, great question!

Finally, a quiz I can answer!
