Morning all,

70° and cloudy after some light rain overnight. Supposed to get to 91° later with thunderstorms, possibly severe, late tonight and into tomorrow morning.

Not much going on yet today.

Karl: Good thing is it could have been worse. No one was hurt. Doesn't make cleanup easier. Last tree I took off a car we needed a chainsaw and it wasn't really drivable.

Morning and cool here. Apple watch says 66 F degrees and AQI of 35.

Need to put on my walkin' shoes, and walk on out of here. (Apologies to Nancy Sinatra) to get my steps in while it's pleasant out.

I already jammed some words out this morning, and know a lot of what will happen in the next few chapters. So words may be worded.

Also need to make a Target run. Need to get some Coke Zero for the wife to drink on our trip, and Diet Dr. Peppers for me. And other snacks

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 84°, heat advisory here today as well, but today's high is just expected to be 101°. Tomorrow starts another 10 day stretch of 105° and above.

Not surprising, the overnight rain predicted for last night didn't happen.
Pool temperature only rose to 88.5° yesterday, so maybe it's going to begin it's slow cool-down.

Today it's back to my new part time retirement job, going to a medical establishment. It's the one week follow up to the right eye cataract surgery done last week. I just hate having to drive a 52 mile round trip for a ten minute visit. It's my only visit this week, I have three more next week including the left eye cataract surgery. I am pleasantly surprised at the result so far. Replacing my 70+ year old lens with a new "clear" one is an interesting experience. Colors are so much brighter and pronounced with that eye. I can also read the computer screen unaided, although out of habit I still put the glasses on, needing them for the left eye still. Who knows what I will be able to do after the other eye is done. Maybe I can go back to the days when I could install a Kadee coupler spring with the naked eye!:) Eventually I will have to go back to the DPS to get the eyeglass restriction removed from my driver's license. But the main thing to me is the absence of the cloudiness that was present on the right side of the eye. I am hoping for the same results on the left eye next week.

I only spent a short time out in the train shed yesterday, as we went to the "Endless Shrimp Monday" special at Red Lobster last night. I engaged in an endless stream of minor things that came up during the most recent layout cleaning from early July. Fixed loose windows, re-attached a few loose detail parts, straightened up a fallen over figure or two, and added a driver to one vehicle.

Here are a few pictures from the archives of the only Campbell kit that I own, Seebold & Sons. I use this structure to represent a pallet manufacturer that both receives and ships by rail.

Jack - I assume that's your name, really nice pictures of the hunting camp. Where roughly is it located?
Mac - Great pictures yesterday along the NP route. That abandoned trestle must have been a great temptation.
Tom O - Old refrigerators here go to the salvage yard and they pay me. In most towns and cities though, you can leave it on the curbside and it will be gone in a couple of hours, taken by salvagers themselves who cruise the neighborhoods. In my brother's upper middle class neighborhood, bulk pickup by the city is the first Monday of the month, so everyone loads the curb with furniture, appliances and the like beginning Sunday morning. By Sunday evening most is gone after an army of pickups pulling rickety trailers make their rounds. And there are occasional verbal disagreements.
Sherrel - A belated Happy Birthday to Kate.
Karl - WOW! Sure am glad that you didn't report anyone injured. Good luck with the clean up, and better luck with the insurance company.

Today is National Whataburger Day. That's the only fast-food franchise that I actually patronize, maybe 2-3 times a year. I drive by four of them every time that I go on the grocery trek!
Everybody have a great day and be careful out there.

Good morning. It’s 64f degrees heading to 82 with a slight chance of stray T-storms. We could use some rain again but Mother Nature has her ways to do things, and she is not speaking to me.

Some stuff in the house to putter with. Maybe sometime in the shop organizing. I can create a messy work bench but the rest of the area needs organization and today might be the day. No weathering is planned.

Today I have to cut the grass at the old place soon to be offices again. The interior is getting painted next week and furniture delivered when the paint dries. It’s a similar but new direction for me. Am I un-retiring, sort of. I have been real antsy since the end of Covid including the 2 full months of anxiety attacks that I have mentioned before. Just doing my trains, cutting some grass and driving around the property hasn’t been enough. I love to golf but using my simulator for 30-60 minutes a day is fine and the occasional outdoor game is plenty, plus my meds and the sun don’t really agree. So starting in September off to work a few days a week! Truly I have discussed this for well over a year with Terry. She will not be involved except as a sounding board without compensation. I have a plan, a partner and I am looking forward to the new adventure.

Willie, we no longer can put electrical appliances out on the curb. We have a City recycling center and for the $10 cost it’s fine. About 6 years ago I put a charcoal Weber grill on the curb and it was gone within hours by the guy who still drives the neighborhood on Sunday night, recycling and garbage is Monday morning. But the appliances were stopped when a kid got hurt. It’s amazing what people put out on the curb and how quickly someone takes them

Good evening. It's sunny and 92.
I have an Amazon account, and have several things I use regularly delivered as a subscription. Today, Amazon delivered two items in a single box to my place. When I got home, the box was gone. While there have been several things misdelivered, this one has a clear photo of my front door with the box sitting there.
I'm not going to jump to conclusions, though I hope it's not my new clueless neighbor that has decided to help himself.
Amazon is sending replacements, and if it happens again, I may have to make different arrangements for my package deliveries.
Different arrangements;)

I've driven by that many times but never found the time to explore. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
For me it's something special because i live in the east. Heading out of Butte one can get off at the Homestake Pass exit, turn left at the end of ramp and it will take you to a small dirt lot right across the railroad. It's about 4 mile walk on RR to get to the bridge. There is a tunnel about one mile from the parking lot;

Scary to walk through it as the wooden portals are slowly giving way to rocks. I did walk through it one way, but chose to take the path around it on the way back. Imagine one of the flag limiteds going on this route back in the day when Northern Pacific was in charge.

Here's a few for those who like structures. This tinyest elevator was in some very small town in Washington east of Othello:

The house addition was done to match the style.

This little station is in Colfax:

Colfax is located in the east of Washington not too far from Idaho. I am not sure about what former railroad this is;

Awww, CRAP!

Just got off the phone with the Ins. Co.. Door damage on the S10, which won't affect the driving of it is not covered, no comp coverage on that car. The Equinox (SWMBO's car) Is covered with $100.00 deductible. The car is only 5 years old so we will get it fixed. It's just gonna be a P.I.A. but we will get it done.
Just got an update from BG&E, power is expected to be restored at 1 p.m. today.
In other storm related news, a whole line of power poles in Westminster, just a few miles north of us, were blown over in the storm. Along a major highway and for about 1/4 of a mile. There is actually video on FB!

I went to high school for 2 years in Bozeman so I drove this road quite a few times coming from Idaho. Here's a neat spot that we went to visit from the school once. https://www.visitmt.com/listings/general/landmark/ringing-rocks-point-of-interest

Good morning, all! Hot and Humid in Houston, maybe that's why they call it H-Town. Our forecast pretty much matches Willie's, just a degree or 2 lower, but not a lot of difference between 107 and 104.

Mac - Some really nice photos
Sherrel - Wish Dame Foldalot a Happy Birthday

Railroad - I got a new warehouse, a laser cut kit yesterday. It's my first Motrak kit, photos to follow.

STAY SAFE
LATER

I'm back. Doing lots of other stuff instead of writing or hobbying.

In prep for the traveling and game tournament this weekend, I hit the grocery for bottles of soda for the road/hotel. Then stopped at the big box home improvement store. Got some small sorter trays (off brand plano style). And, as I wandered down the furnace filter aisle to confirm that the size was accurate for my upcoming spray booth build, I spied metal end caps for forced air runs...

I've wanted to make a shelf in the storage boxes I use for transporting my little armies of figures around. That way a deep box can have two levels of figures. I grabbed one and headed to tool aisle. Yep, the end caps are able to hold magnets. Now to use foam core to build a couple of dividers for the lower level to raise that "tray" up above the lower level.

I'll add pics later, once I get it set up
