Roofers are done, thank God. It's almost my bed time.
I think I forgot to mention we were having the roof replaced.

The PS 4 Pro came back today. No additional charges and it works like new. Total cost was $149 and that included shipping both ways. They even sent me a box to send it to them.

That's all for me, no nap.today, I'm tired!

Have a great night Everybody!

The wife seen this and can't stop laughing.

I've always enjoyed Star Trek since its first airing in the 60s.
Now, the show has produced several motion pictures and then split off unto several audience appeasing versions. I saw the Discovery variant previewed and thought it would be interesting. Kinda half watching a few episodes while working at the train desk when something didn't seem right. I backed it up and sure enough the LGBTQWTF crowd has their hands and demands in the show. The ship physician and science officer are having a gay affair. Then there is a transgender of sorts in there too.
I think this is restricted to the Discovery variant of Star Trek because I haven't seen that crap on the other shows.
I've watched 4 seasons of Discovery, it's definitely a version of Star Trek like you've never seen before, I'll give it that. I'm not a huge fan of this show, but it's ok, if you don't mind the whole LGBTQWTF schtick.

Nope. "Strange New Worlds" has it, too.

Well, howdy there internet people of whatever letter of the alphabet you are.

It's troy again.

Did some airbrushing of figures earlier today, then went out to sit on the very sunny patio and cook some steaks for dinner. No food porn shots, but here are some pasty white legs in Birkenstocks with our nicely-sided condo behind them. Note the lack of rain gutters. And, the new trim "boards" (plastic/concrete/something that isn't wood) need another coat of paint before the gutters go up.

I picked up a new gaming rule book that is more of mid-sized dark to middle ages roll dice and have fun. Troop types are generic, and don't have a lot of customization between Knightly Orders and the Saracens, the Byzantines and the Vikings, etc.

Did you notice the panther in the photo?

So, with the other game that I play overlapping this one heavily with period and troops for it, I need to get some paint on these.

The foot grumped today.... I think I stretched too far, and pulled the tendon at the back of the heel. It aches in a different spot. Plus, I tried to go without using the anti-inflammation arthritis cream this morning. Pulled the athletic tape off at about 11am and smear the cream on. Added it twice more since then. Ah, well. Two steps forward, then a painful one back.

That's it for now. Need to put my sock on and paint those Hospitallers.

This past weekend, I spent some time slicing N-Scale 4x4 timbers to build the deck of my riverfront wharf. The wharf will support 2 buildings, with cranes for unloading barge traffic.

I stained the pieces various shades of wood color and let them dry overnight.

This evening, I went down to the workbench and laid down a couple inches of decking. You can see the plastic tub with all the timbers, and the 2 vials of stain.

The pilings are from Model Tech Studios. I need to paint them. The gray girders we're scrap, left over from some bridges.

I think the decking is going to look great, especially once I get it weathered.

I'm a fan of Star Trek Discovery. I'm midway through the 4th season, so far so good.

From it's inception Star Trek was a socially progressive show.

Almost every show I watch has one, two or few characters I don't like. It has nothing to do with their gender or orientation. I just don't like them for one reason or another.

My son and I spent about 45-50 minutes at lunch taking down the strong backs from the main room, stacking them, and then re-stacking some of the unused foam bundles that had fallen over or the outer wrap had burst open -- stored outside the house but in the hole where they excavated too much.

These pics show our progress so far taking stuff down

Up here, they keep the foam on for insulation value, do I see some of the foam removed ? Maybe your garage section as you mentioned ?

Morning all,

61° and clear, going for a high of 92°.

Wife's work closure made the news in Wichita. 120 license daycare at under 1/2 capacity due to lack of help. They weren't supposed to talk about it...lol

Hopefully a quieter day at work later.

BBL
My daughter when she graduated college in 2005 wanted to teach, but there were no open full time jobs in the area she wanted to live. Went to work for a National chain day care. Rose to director, then regional general manager and then of course stalled after 4 years. Started her own then purchased 4 others and after 12 years of saying no to offers to be purchased she said yes, main reasons were 3 fold, great areas and she had full staffing. For her the price was finally right. That was 2 years before Covid raised havoc. Her reason for getting out, even though she was still fully staffed she had 40% turnover with staff yearly and she said it was draining and stressful. Plus as mentioned the money was right. Covid hit and the National chain that purchased her business closed 2 of the 5 centers due to staffing. I have not asked in the last year how her former business is doing but I see the hiring signs at the 1 location I pass. Staffing for daycare has always been tough and for some reason has lots of turnover. Your wife with 16 years at one place is a great testament to her and a decent workplace. Daycare staff like teachers are taken for granted and finally are being noticed as essential parts of the economy.

Not being told to talk about your workplace closing, really! In this age of social media, someone was dreaming.

Yes it was, but I think they wanted to have the parents find out with an official letter rather than the rumor mill. Small town...

Quiet so far today, still trying to work through an issue with our Exchange that became a problem a couple of years back, but no one said anything until a new police captain came in from Wichita.

Good morning Crew. 63 now heading to 81 later, hopefully another day like yesterday. No rain!

Son texted that he was sitting in his truck yesterday as the rain just opened up in Austin, @ 4:30PM. 3 hours later he texted 8” of rain had fallen at his place but was just a drizzle now. Texted at midnight, he had gotten another 2” from 10:30 to 11:15PM. He was fine but the flash flood warnings were active. 5:30AM this morning he said got a mile from the house and had to turn around as the creek bridge seemed to be missing! More rain later predicted.

Switching internet providers today. Leaving the spotty service of Spectrum and going back to the fiber 1gig up and 1 gig down of TDS. Price difference is TDS is $50 plus tax cheaper for double the speeds. We had used TDS both here and up in North Central Wisconsin for 30 years. Service was great but 2 years ago the prices were crazy. Spectrum though just had too many outages plus TDS is now much cheaper.

Nothing planned as the TDS service tech will be here between 1 and 3 and they have sent a reminder email every day since last Thursday when I switched. I sure hope the service guy is getting them to. So, I will spend time in the train room. The grass is growing but my new lawn care lady will be cutting around 10

Off to my shower, the 2 mile walk this morning was done because the predicted fog was not here.

Evil bay has lost their minds on 2 bay hoppers good lord!

I would never pay that much for a single car 2 bay covered hopper by Athearn! Ludicrous! Crazy as in bat shit crazy!

Wow! I guess I been fortunate to get what I got lately....3 to 4 covered hoppers for 75 bucks and they were Intermountain..... better quality.
