Afternoon All,

Morning was spent at the vampire then running errands with the wife. After lunch I put the rest of the walls in place, the trim, and glued the inner wall in place. Tomorrow I will install the interior lighting.

Putting the walls and trim on broke off the remaining 3 corner roof supports. While cutting out the first roof truss both triangular pieces broke off (attached by a very thin piece of wood) mainly because the laser cut leaves a lot to be desired. Another kit issue is the trim is all one piece for each wall which makes it very hard to get it laid down properly (remember there's glue on one side). After this I had a epiphany that it didn't matter about the triangular pieces...they can be glued on when the sub-roof is put in place.

Thank you for all the photo likes yesterday.

Gary- Nice job on the industrial buildings. No, I'm only posting the build in the coffee shop.

Joe- Intense is one word for it. 😂 Nice looking S2. If I remember right the large numbers came about in the 60's?

Dave- Thank you. Great looking scene.

Todd- I didn't realize that ME was up for sale.

Willie- Great detailing. I think Tichy Phosphor wire would work for you.

Jeff- I loved that show.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Dave: are you a member of the NPHS? I just upped again as that is one of my interests. This time for 4 years though as ima supposed to get a ton of different types of pix and stuff on a dongle. Time will tell!
Yes, I joined a couple years ago.

The convention this year is nearby where I live, in Brainerd, MN. The tour they are doing they will be visiting the town where I work, the Aitkin MN NP Depot.

I couldn't talk the wife into joining me so I didn't register to go. Early registration ended Monday still thinking I may sign up for something but really would rather spend the money on something else.

Their website is FANTASTIC with tons of pics, etc. Took me a while to get used to but now I find it a great resource.

Dave

It's a decent card, about the oldest and least card I'd want. It doesn't draw a lot of power, and will play most games at medium settings, if not better. It runs on the power supplied by the motherboard of the computer, you don't have to run extra power cables to it. They are readily available on the used market for $100 or so.
I ordered one, factory refurbished with a full warranty. I got it from Amazon for $139.00 and free shipping.
I bought a new one for another of my PCs last January for $159.00. video cards were scarce then. Now a new one is $179 and up.
My son said basically the same as you. I asked you because my son is a top of the line guy, I'm a value guy. (cheap)
I like that it does not draw a lot of power. No need to replace the power supply. I have not played a PC game in at least 3 years and I doubt I will anytime soon.
Thank you!

Haunting dreams of un-washed un-varnished dirty trains can keep even the most seasoned modeler awake at night.

And, yep... those darn things that we can't easily let go of are always waiting to come back until we can deal with them.
Troy, I'm glad to hear your foot is finally feeling better. Tendons and ligaments can take weeks even months.to heal. If you tear one completely you could be facing surgery and a year before it heals.

I almost every old injury reminds me at one time or another. Last night seemed like they were all talking to me.

You write of dirty trains eloquently. Your books must be very good.

I love to read, but usually I don't enjoy novels or stories. I did read Dune, I enjoyed it.
i prefer to read news papers, history books, sports books and technical manuals.
I don't read much any more. I tend to fall asleep when I read now. Same thing happens to me when I go to the movies, even Imax.
I tried to read a Steven King book. He drove me nuts by using so many words to describe even the simplest things. I did not finish the first chapter.

Some here, why waste even a few minutes of my couch time! :D ;)

I had a mustache once, my ex loved it. I thought it made me look like a 70s porn star and shaved it off!
My wife doesn’t like when I shave off the beard(only happens when I mess up trimming it). The only shaving I do is my neck(up to the underside of the beard) & soul patch under my bottom lip.

I also tend to be a little cheap.
I think I let everybody here know about the electrical issue at my house, and that I had gathered everything up, and taken it to my friend at the computer store. He knows I am considering a move into smaller quarters, and gave me the laptop I'm typing this on in exchange for the stuff I brought.
I went looking for a spare power brick for this laptop, and managed to find a place that was selling the whole thing.
After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I called him to make sure he meant to give me this thing. He said it was a "thank you" for bailing him out of the fire and not asking for anything in payment over the years.
I guess good friends are that. And some of them own computer stores...

I removed the link, I decided it wasn't appropriate.

And a little further about the "cheap" thing:
My wife loved tuna, and I absolutely loathe it. Before she died, I had picked up about 16 cans of it, for her to eat as lunch, tuna salad, tuna surprise, etc. I'm not one to waste food, so I bought a bunch of Tuna Helper, and have been using that, along with some other ingredients, to help me choke this stuff down.
I'm happy to report that as of tonight, I have 3 cans of tuna and one box of Tuna Helper left. I'm currently holding my nose, and shoveling a serving of "creamy broccoli" Tuna Helper down. Urp...

You guys that are value or cheap are neither. You are wise!

I am working on the new Transload space on the layout. The original spot was great for years but actually to confining the way the singer track was laid out. Where it’s going was a nice scrap yard for the recycling center and then a very unsuccessful conversion to a locomotive servicing center. I took out the service center pad and the base for the never added enginehouse.

the concrete base is my usual 1/4“ foamboard glued down and weighted with a few product placements. These pictures are for about 2/3’s of the area. The next section hopefully tomorrow after this area cures for 24 hours

Welp... helping a friend from the gaming world out. He needed a WWII German V-1 Rocket Launch site to build a table around for an upcoming game tourney.

And I have a 3D printer or two.

So I bought the file for $6. It's going to take almost 4 days to print all of the parts on the FDM printer

Now I have to find a spot for it on my layout, once I downscale it from 1:56 to 1:160

If I remember right the large numbers came about in the 60's?
Curt: Yes, The Keystone scheme came about in 1962, with the delivery of the GP30s. The 1966 renumbering was related to the (then) proposed merger with the NYC. I have started to renumber most of my power to 1966 (which also coincides with the replacement of Trainphone with VHF -HI radio). The large (16") numbers are also easier to read. ;) My Baldwin fleet, and the Bowser RS-3 with trainphone will retain their pre 1966 appearance. Got a lot of plans, but running out of time...

BTW, that freight house is awesome. I love the interior.

Morning all,

64° and clear going for a high of 92° later. Slowly headed back up, but not expected to hit the triple digits for a while.

Have time for coffee only this morning, especially since the Dr confirmed the self diagnosis that I'm old and fat.

Off to the office later.

Good morning all! 56 heading for 80 degrees today. Should be a nice day. First day of the Fall semester! I went in early yesterday to try to get some things done and going to go in a little early again today. I got a lot done even working by myself yesterday. Got a few things to finish up this morning and then I'll be caught up on all the stuff that has to be done. Hard to stay caught up around there. It was a good day and there was a lot of activity around the campus. They had student orientations yesterday and made a party out of it with food trucks, music and other stuff going on. It was nice having students on campus again so I'm looking forward to what I hope will be a great semester.

I picked up 6 pizzas on the way home from work as we had the kids and grandkids, minus 2 over for dinner. Once they left I hit the shower and headed for an early bedtime. I was pretty exhausted from work and it'll probably be the same again today. Now that school is back in session I'll have homework again for the classes I'm taking. Hoping I feel like working on my math class this evening and then tomorrow I have speech class on campus. I had planned on using my lunch hour to go to speech class but the college president told me I am to use work time, not my lunch hour to go to class. He said I'm doing something to improve myself and that helps me in my job so it counts as work as far as he's concerned.
LOL Terre Haute is about 45 miles from my house.Used to be one terribly stinky city till they tore down the paper mill.

Have a great day everyone!
