Afternoon All,

Spent a good part of the day in the train room working on the freight house. Of course I broke 2 parts trying to get everything together but again I was able to repair my thick fingered damage. One thing I don't like is all the walls are 2 piece which gives me 8 chances to break something. :( Tomorrow I'll start out with the vampire. After that hopefully the train room.

Thank you for all the photo likes yesterday.

George- Great job on both projects. I've never had a home fireplace so why do you have 2 exhaust stacks?

James- Neat looking transfer cabooses.

Patrick- Unfortunately I think it's all part of the aging process.

Sherrel- Thank you. I can't believe you are seriously contemplating moving to another local house and all that entails.

Joe- Thank you.

Willie- Nice scenes.

Dave- I really like the lighting on your scenes. Great looking truck.

Ken D&J- Nice job with the trees.

moermusic- Looks like a great time. Fantastic looking fish.

I had to build the frame off the platform because of the corner tabs and the triangular shapes on the corners (very very fragile).

The frame attaches to the platfor by tabs.

The bottom layer of wall. Attaches by tabs also glues to frame giving the frame stability.

The upper walls with windows and doors. The doors not attached will be open on both sides (rail and truck). Once the walls are mounted I will be doing all the interior work before continuing with the directions.

I hope everyone has a good night.

So I thought about what Gary & Wille said about fastening the 2 X 4's to the Rubbermaid shed. I decide maybe I should. So today, this is what I came up with. There's opening in the shed wall to insert hardware that came with the shed. I guess to hang stuff on. I had some dura wire left over from my chimney project. I cut a piece of that wire to insert in the opening and wrap around the 2 X 4. Then added a strip of aluminum screwed to the 2 X 4 to hold it in place.

Don't do the optimization on an SSD drive. Doing routine optimization can reduce SSD life.
Thank you, that is good to know. Especially now that I have upgraded all my PCs to SSD.
Is there anything else I should know about SSD drives?
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experience.

Good to hear you are doing well.
Creatine is an indicator of how your kidneys are doing. Mine is consistently over 1000. The upper range is 30 for most people. My kidney doctor (I have stage two kidney disease) told us that is ok for me. My youngest daughter was relieved to hear that.
Were you an athlete when you were young? Some hi-level athletes naturally have extremely high creatine levels. (some are "juicing"). Like the heart rate, it does not change much as we age. My heart rate is still under 50 most of the time.

DAVE B. -- Sounds as if you and the Misses had some fine eating as well - fresh corn is hard to beat, and I love a good hamburger too!
I really do not mind shaving - it's just the time involved (all five minutes or so).
I don't feel right if I have more than a few days growth and I once tried a mustache!
It was a good one, but I killed it after just a few months - just really never been a fan of facial hair - the young Saudi boys I was teaching to fly and their little "pubichair" mustaches always cracked me up; it was a passage to manhood for them.
Some here, why waste even a few minutes of my couch time! :D ;)

I had a mustache once, my ex loved it. I thought it made me look like a 70s porn star and shaved it off!

SSD's have come a long way, but they still have a limited number of read\write cycles. They have no search lag when compared to the old spinning disk drives. Should never need to optimize.

The creatin he suspects if the number holds, may be from my BP med. It's been in the normal range even as late as 6 months ago. I never was an athlete.

My son recommended the latest Crucial SSD drives. I was always a western digital or segate fan. I did buy the latest Crucial drives.

I'm very happy with the performance of my old PCs after the upgrade to SSD. Even the ones not capable of running windows 11 are noticeably much faster.

Good to hear you keep up with your health. 😁

Crucial has come a long way from when they started. Back then, you couldn't run fast enough to give me one of their products. Now, they are well regarded, and I have several of their products in my machines. They also make RAM.
I don't agree with the "no optimization" of SSDs. Optimization is much different from defragmentation, which is what spinning platter hard drives use for data storage efficiency. Defragging an SSD will do a lot of things, none of them good, to an SSD. Optimization is basically marking previously used areas of the drive as "open and available", and does help with writing to the drive.
In no particular order, I like Samsung, Seagate, WD, Crucial, and Sabrent.

Welp.... the Amish crew got most of the demo work done on our unit. Just the part over my wife's office to do... then pound all of the nails for siding in.

Wife has an 8:30 am client call, and she's in the hot seat... so we've moved her computer setup down into the train area of the basement. I had to clear off a folding table for all of her stuff.

She'll probably be down there all day. I better plan on heading out to Panera for the morning. It will be at least lunchtime before she'll want to try to move her stuff back to her office.

Good evening. Another lovely August day. 80° and 100% clear all day. There were many posts since my last, so I skipped to the last page.

Curt: Wow...that kit is intense.

Another under weathered loco:

1986 Atlas Yellow Box S-2 fresh out of the shop after renumbering to 1966 scheme, and installation of a replacement TCS T-6 Decoder. Again I'' use the washed and varnished excuse until I get around to weathering.
