Chicken Wars: Raising Cane's is the best out here followed by Chick-fil-A and then Jack in the Box, Carl's Jr, and others. KFC has really hit bottom with the wife and I.
However, the best place to eat chicken is up the hill, South, on the 15 freeway in the
Rainbow Oaks Restaurant
A waiting line to get seated as fried chick. is the special on Tuesday.

Oh no! I gotta disagree with you Louis! Royal Farms Stores and Roy Rogers are much better! Last time I had KFC it wasn't chicken, it was Squab! Must be how Baltimore controls its pigeon population!
I like Royal Farms chicken, but beware they have MSG in their breading. I'm ok with the high sodium but not everyone is. My wife managed several of their stores. After how they treat employees, I refuse to buy anything from Royal Farms. They even refused her requests for a place for employees to sit when on break. Nobody should spend 8.5 hours plus on their feet. I could tell some stories about them. She made great money with her bonus, but she could not sell her soul.
Their loss is my gain, now we work together. She is a superstar, even makes me look good!

I never tried Roy Rodgers Chicken.

I don't eat out much. Half a dozen times a year, + or - I love home cooking best of all! Even my cooking is better than most restaurants and take outs.

Even Capitan Harvey's has gone downhill. :( That broke my heart.

Pigeon or not, I love KFC original recipe, and yes, it is a bit small. But the breading is so good!

Louis: Agree to disagree on KFC. Much better chicken places than that. Can't eat their chicken anymore without having stomach upset (upper, not lower). For that matter Long John Silver's, Churches, Popeyes and the local Walmart and Kroger chicken does the same. Couple of restaurants in Eastern Kansas we go to when we don't want to fry it ourselves.
I'm sorry to hear that. Indigestion is never good.

That is why so many places make profit. Something for everyone.

You know its going to be good when the brown bag is almost soaked through with grease!

The original owners sold out. The subs are still big around, but the sub is shorter. Still very tasty, but a bit disappointing to me. I used to be able to eat a whole sub and fries! Now the new smaller version of the half sub is more than I can do, forget the fries. My beagles must help me finish the half sub. I still want the big old sub I knew! I don't care I can no longer eat it all.

Patrick: I have not heard lately, but the rage around the Frisco.org website a couple years back was a place in Corona, Kansas. The guys all were praising it!

Think this may be it?

Pichler's Chicken Annies

Chicken Annie's and Chicken Mary's in Pittsburg and Girard, KS. , although they have several others in the area. There's a whole history about the original families involved and that a daughter of one of them married the son of the other in kind of a Romeo and Juliet way. I guess it was and always had been a friendly family feud though... Either one is or was top notch. It's a couple hours away and we really haven't been lately.

Just came across my news feed. Vin Scully has passed at 94. I know from a week or so ago many of you were great fans of his. May he RIP
My jaw dropped when Joe Davis broke the news during the telecast of last night's ballgame at Oracle. Fitting that he passed away during a Dodgers-Giants series. I'm still struggling to put my thoughts into the right words.

Morning all,

81° and clear, high later of 103°.

Finally the political bs is done for now. Hopefully some quiet for a while. Wish the do not call list extended to these calls as well.

Back to trains.
Enjoy it while you can Patrick. They are just getting warmed up for the big day in November. I'd sure like to have some of the money these people spend on getting elected. The real money comes in after the election to whoever gets elected.

Well howdy there internet people and those who rescue lost computer techs

It's troy again

TomO your wife is due to be sainted.

My own wife needs a vacation, and I keep thinking of Wisconsin from all the pics you're post. When I was little, we used to visit extended family in Waukesha WI, and go to whatever the deer park place was. I remember being amazed that every time we visited, someone would put a wired wraparound-the-bumper advertising thingie (nonsticky bumper sticker in today's parlance) around Dad's back bumper to advertise the Deer Park or whatever it is/was.

She's in a cycle where we can't get a solid week to make the drive past Chicago to get up there, but it's on the list for later. I've got an author friend that writes a mystery series set on the Mailboat on Lake Geneva, and it would be fun to coordinate trips with her and finally get to meet in person.

In other news, we have gutters! We were the last unit finished yesterday. No Amish crews on this part. In fact, haven't seen the Amish woodpeckers all week. Looks like they're on another project until the gutters get done. So, I don't have to move my patio furniture and grills just yet. But, rain is in the forecast, so who knows?

And, finally, my plantar fasciitis is on the mend. Been doing my stretches, my tennis ball massaging, and wearing the Birkenstocks. So, of course, bursitis in my left elbow is acting up.

hurts to rest my arm on the arm of the patio chair so I can type. 3D printing to the rescue... and I didn't even have to print anything.

That's the foam insert that wraps around a bottle of liquid resin for the 3D printer. I cut a 2-inch section out of it to raise my toes when I do my stair stretch for my foot. So, I trimmed off the sharp corners, and drop it over the metal arm. Then I let my elbow hang off the foam, leaving support for my forearm.

Today shall be plotting out the new mystery. I know who the victim and perps are. An architect stabbed with his own pencil! (stylus since he works on a tablet). Now to figure out all of the connections to the red herrings, and how to frame a merman for it.
Has to be the Architects assistant because the assistant does all the work and the Architect gets all the credit and the money. The assistant turns out to be a better designer than the architect. Don't know why that sounds familiar. Ha!

KFC: For chain store bone-in Chicken, we like KFC. I've been boycotting KFC though since they still have not opened for in-restaurant eating (last I saw a month ago) when most places around here opened back up mid to late 2020. I liked their grilled chicken best though I've heard that has been discontinued.

However, there are much better places for Chicken than KFC. The best I ever had for bone-in was in Korea. Korean fried chicken is the best (because of how they do it).

In general, for Chicken, at chain stores, for some reason we haveboth Zaxby and Raising Canes in Utah, though if you look at a map, Zaxbys is mostly just the South + Utah, and Raising Canes is predominantly the South, though Colorado, California, Arizona, and Nevada also seem to be represented, with a lot in the Midwest as well. I prefer Raising Canes to any of the chain store chicken. Zaxbys fingers are good -- their boneless "wings" (think nuggets) are not great, and I have not had their bone in wings. Popeyes is OK for bone-in but I don't care for their sides that much -- greatly prefer KFC for sides.

Best chicken of course is the mom and pop place that does chicken well in your area.

I need to see if we have any Korean based chicken places in the area.
I agree with you on Korean chicken. Best I’ve ever had was in 2001 from a street vendor in Seoul Korea and not even close to the 2nd best, my grandmothers!

KFC was good at lunch once a month until about 2010 when at least the one in Marshfield, Wi. went to hell. They closed it and remodeled it into a KFC/Long John Silver. That lasted maybe six months and then it went back to just KFC but the fried chicken was terrible after that.

Now, if it’s not on the grill at home, I don’t want chicken.
