Tom O: For sure. Although with McKenzie retiring, and Servalli leaving, TSN is not as good as they were. Sportsnet, is very good once you get by the obvious Leafs Nation bias. ESPN/ESPN+ is gearing up their coverage now that they have the TV contract. theHockeywriters.com are at a different level.I read the best hockey news at Sportsnet.ca. TSN.ca and thehockeywriters.com.
You forgot “Dodge Ram”.Happy taxpayers?? Is there such a thing? I always considered it an oxymoron, like military intelligence or jumbo shrimp.
Willie: Easy, that's all they have in their library...all Hallmark moments. Why is the Hallmark Channel still showing Christmas movies???
My cousin’s FIL was a Tin Can Sailor during the Korean War-era. *edited due to DYAC.Terry- You were a submariner?

I follow SBNATION's Devils and Cap's blogs, as well as the Leafs blog (for Laughs). They have sites for most of the NHL teams. Couple years ago, I tried the Athletic which is behind a paywall, but found they weren't worth the annual fee. Then for entertainment, and occasional insight, there is the Hockey Guy on U-tube. Problem is this is august, and all the key people and pundits are on vacation, so news is scarce...
Here's what I know.Louis .... Where are you? It's been months since I have seen you.
David and Dave ...... Same with you two.
Love the last photoGood evening. 68° Rained most of the day, (1.42"), and never got above 73°, which was the temperature at midnight. Last rain was back on July 29, so it was welcomed.
Actually settled down this weekend and watched some baseball, via streaming on MLBTV. Washington Nationals vs. Atlanta. hard to believe that Washington won the World Series only a few years ago. They dumped most of their best players, and really are not good...still better than the hapless Baltimore Orioles. Can't wait for Hockey Season.
I did spend some time working on the model railroad this weekend. Mostly glazing for the Middlesex Manufacturing building. Also ran a few trains.
Went to the Pulmonary Specialist last Wednesday, second CT Scan indicates that the nodule shown on the first CT Scan has completely disappeared. Indication is a lung infection of some type. Currently, lungs are clear, and breathing is as normal as it can get for me. meanwhile, I go for a stress-echo on Thursday... Never ends once you hit 70, eh Sherrel?
My son, (Marine), was TDY to Okinawa back in 2013 as part of the 31st MEU. They sailed down to Ray's neighborhood then returned to Okinawa. He has since left the USMC and works for the Navy Department, supporting Marine Aviation.
Obviously, I have not been able to remain up to speed with coffee shop discussion. Hope to allocate more time in the coming week.

Sone people get in their loft layout rooms when part of the year is calmer, or warmer, i model most in winter when being out in the garden is much more hands on,breeding duck is spring summer and early autumn, as is veg, once the weather goes and the longer night come about I can go in the loft, for sone a summer loft is too hot, for others summer too warm,as you say life changes cause a lot to go quiet on another forum I got a lot of ex modellers who know a lot but have issues modelling, gone to care homes, health, hands crapped out, finances, sone of the best as ex railway workers as they have great insight into lots of aspects, as tine passes we a,so lose the older generations who had insight into older aspects,I used to know a couple of people who worked in mines, my dad trained as a blacksmith as a teenager at a mine and they had horse drawn way after most no longer had them,my dad had a great love of horses because of those pit ponies, luckily he did not work in the mines and lived into his nineties, we lose so much knowledge as we lose our fellow modellers to those life changes, poor health, and the inevitable that will await us all in time, meantime hopefully we can enjoy modern and bygone eras,a lot of effort is put in my 1:1 railway preservation, they even get old paint flecks examined and work out the original colours, I have plans to do an old Welsh, I have a lot of the buildings ready to rockHere's what I know.
Louis got into the business of being a third party seller on Amazon and even got his wife Angela to leave her lucrative job (with insurance benefits) of managing convenience stores in Baltimore, to join and help him. He was buying pallet loads of surplus and bankruptcy stuff, mainly tools, and breaking them down into smaller lots to sell. He was doing very well when I last was in contact with him around Christmas. He has not responded to my E-Mails since. However I have not tried to contact him in a couple of months. He was still having some health issues. He has not posted since November.
David had been having health issues also. He last posted around January and was having major issues with what he called his "love tip", leg muscles and knee. See post #38 in the January Coffee Shop. He had only sporadically posted all of last year.
Dave had just moved into a new house and was getting ready to start his new layout. He last posted in March. While I have been on this forum since 2011, I didn't become active in the Coffee Shop until I retired in summer of 2015. Since that time I have noticed that he had taken a few longish breaks off and on from posting while he changed jobs and other life experiences.
I wonder too about Burlington Bob. He was active off and on from 2011 also. He moved last year to Tennessee but we haven't seen him here in about a year.
Someone else who I enjoyed is Mikey (PNKFLOYD), although he was last here in June when his pontoon boat washed up on shore.
There are others who I miss, but we have been fortunate to have some new Coffee Shop patrons join us in the last couple of years. I won't list anyone for fear of leaving someone out.
Speaking of missing members, how about missing moderators, Willis and Wombat? Two and three years respectively.
Totally love the bear…..Good Morning All. Clear and 79°, it's dark here right now, but won't be by the time I finish this post. Heat advisory for today and the next five, as the NWS is predicting a high of 99° until Saturday when they hope it will rain. We're taking our granddog home to Dallas today, so that means another visit to the nearby LHS Discount Model Railroads. I just have to remember my shopping list and my $40 gift certificate that I received for Father's Day recently.
Not a lot happening right now on the SFW estate, however the neighborhood is about to grow. Here's the view 1/4 mile across my hayfield.

My 40 year long neighbor, gifted a part of his land to his step-daughter and her husband/boyfriend for their new home. The land gift is a technicality so they could get the home. They've been living in a house closer to the road for at least 15 years, a house that Jim (the retired policeman neighbor) originally built for his late mother back in the late 80's. But that house is falling apart and will most likely be trashed once Jaime and Delang move into the new one. So we get a new structure without any additional folks. Delang works as a truck driver in the oilfields of West Texas, two weeks on, two weeks off. I am not sure that Jaime has worked a day in her life, but at least she's not collecting any welfare.
Ham and grits today Flo. I'll go with the grape juice today along with a toasted whole wheat English Muffin.
Thanks for the likes and comments regarding yesterday's post; Christian, Karl, Jaz, Steve J, Chad, Sherrel, Tom O, Curt, Guy, Gary, Rick, Hughie, Gary.
I only had a little time to spend in the train shed yesterday, so I only ran a few trains. One out and back local switching run to switch five industries and two through freights to interfere with the local. Gave me time to contemplate what I might do in the coming days. Of course the trip to the LHS may change any and all plans.
From the archive and I have to be brief here as we need to load up and leave soon.
A few small laser-cut wood structures hat are scattered about.

All but the locksmith were taken before planting on the layout.
Guy - While I don't eat them, several of my wife's country relatives eat squirrels all of the time. I never understood going through all of the trouble dressing them for no more meat than you get. Kinda like a quail.
Make sure that you crush those peanuts with a rolling pin or a hammer, if you use a blender or food processor, you'll end up with peanut butter. We made some homemade one year when I planted peanuts in the garden and was overwhelmed with the results.
That loco yesterday looks like it's returning through the same scene as the riding brakemen picture last month.
Moermusic - Wow! The beef loin looks really good.
Tom O - That's pretty neat living in an earth covered home. I always admired those structures. Near where I lived before moving into our current and hopefully final home, there were two underground communities built nearby. I went to a couple of open houses at one of them and met owners and builders. This was in the late 70's. At the time, they were still experimental here and I wasn't ready to take that step. Honestly, some of them were literally caves and the county finally got involved in the mid-80's with some regulations and demolitions. Some were also very nice and well built.
Why is the Hallmark Channel still showing Christmas movies???
Everybody have a great day.
That place is a memorial to a late friend of mine who owned a saddle/leather shop and also sold western memorabilia. He had a stuffed grizzly as well as a wooden cigar store Indian in his shop. I have an Indian awaiting painting and modification, he's too tall right now, to add to the porch as well. My friend made handmade saddles, boots, chaps, belts, wallets and anything else made of leather. Quite a craftsman.love the open mouth on the grizzly though,,,,
Sanitary sewer was another.Happy taxpayers?? Is there such a thing? I always considered it an oxymoron, like military intelligence or jumbo shrimp.
Joe- I’ll not complain about the Nats’ fire sale(even though it meant giving up C prospect Keibert Ruiz).Good evening. 68° Rained most of the day, (1.42"), and never got above 73°, which was the temperature at midnight. Last rain was back on July 29, so it was welcomed.

Willie- Louis’s last post on the Book of Face was a few weeks ago(7/19- & that was just sharing a “memory”) I’m figuring that just means The ‘Zon business is just keeping him busy. I hope that’s the case, anyway. Here's what I know.
