Thought I better show up, or else be banned?
I've deleted about 15 messages showing up in the approval column this morning- What's up with those?

I checked in for trying to catch up on the posts here in the "shop" yesterday or day prior and must have done about that many again then! Before it seemed to be only one or two a week - the spammers must have shifted into overdrive?
Speaking of the shop - I finally gave up about 4 pages back -- I will have to work them in as I have time for reading what everyone has been up too?

The house has settled back into a more normal "roar" as the kids, dogs, parents are now in Japan where they will be in quarantine for 12 more days before being loosed on the populace. Daughter and two boys are in a hotel where new arrivals stay and are only allowed ONE HOUR a day to exercise in the roped off parking lot - one family at a time .. they cannot mingle with other families at the hotel. Zach, Marine SIL, is on the base, but he cannot mix with them until they are out of the holding period and he cannot leave the base until his holding period is up! On another note - the dogs are in a kennel - somewhere?

Yesterday was the Spousal Unit's birthday! She received cards and calls most all day including a facetime with the daughter from Okinawa giving us a peak of outside her hotel and a view of the exercise parking lot.

Friday night the Bunko Lot attended a concert here for a tribute to Elton John - it was the first gathering of the group since Christmas a year back ... we are all getting up there ... that's me about center of the second row back in the brown shirt ... we took up those three tables. The spousal unit is peeking around Jerry's head there with the sunglasses on! It was nice to be out with friends and others - it seemed strange after all the closedowns! It was OK - I'm really not an Elton John fan, but wifekins is.

Well - I think I have screwed up the posting of the photos, so I will vanish for a moment.

Vera - I am still not hungry after last nights dining out with the daughter, her family, and the Spouse!
We had dinner at a new place here called : The Mexican Café! Large restraint - jammed packed and great food with HUGE Margarites.

Afternoon All,

Spent most the day at Dad's. Took him grocery shopping, to lunch then started destroying paperwork that has been sitting around for years and not needed.

Jaz- Nice looking trees and layout.

Dakota- That's going to be a really nice scene.

Chad- Happy Anniversary.

Terry- Nice motive power, but then I'm partial to Pennsy power.;)

Willie- Nice layout shots. That's why I stay away from them.

Sherrel- Is your daughter stationed there or visiting?

I hope everyone has a good night.

Sherrel- Is your daughter stationed there or visiting?
CURT - The husband (Marine son in law) is going to be stationed there for the next three years. The corp/core (whatever you call it) shipped the family and all belongings with them! daughter worked with/on the base in Lejeune and pretty sure that she will have a place there as well?

P.S. I too am very sad to learn of your Moms' passing.
Prayers and comforting thoughts to all the family.
I don't know the health of your father, but mine went as well after eleven months from my Mom's leaving. He just lost any desire to carry on afterwards.

Shot some paint at my 1930's stuff today. I don't know why Walthers, Atlas, MTH can't be bothered to do the actual original MILW paint scheme for heavyweights, instead they opt for the over-done 1955 cigar band scheme. Rivarossi has a variation of this paint with the wrong color letterboard, wrong color trucks and roof.

This car, someone custom painted with the appropriate letterboard and lettering, but they left the roof and trucks black.

Good evening. 68° Rained most of the day, (1.42"), and never got above 73°, which was the temperature at midnight. Last rain was back on July 29, so it was welcomed.
Actually settled down this weekend and watched some baseball, via streaming on MLBTV. Washington Nationals vs. Atlanta. hard to believe that Washington won the World Series only a few years ago. They dumped most of their best players, and really are not good...still better than the hapless Baltimore Orioles. Can't wait for Hockey Season.
I did spend some time working on the model railroad this weekend. Mostly glazing for the Middlesex Manufacturing building. Also ran a few trains.

Went to the Pulmonary Specialist last Wednesday, second CT Scan indicates that the nodule shown on the first CT Scan has completely disappeared. Indication is a lung infection of some type. Currently, lungs are clear, and breathing is as normal as it can get for me. meanwhile, I go for a stress-echo on Thursday... Never ends once you hit 70, eh Sherrel?

My son, (Marine), was TDY to Okinawa back in 2013 as part of the 31st MEU. They sailed down to Ray's neighborhood then returned to Okinawa. He has since left the USMC and works for the Navy Department, supporting Marine Aviation.

Obviously, I have not been able to remain up to speed with coffee shop discussion. Hope to allocate more time in the coming week.

Good morning all,

Not much work done yesterday. Was just getting going when my daughter popped in for a visit. She stayed all afternoon, and though I asked if she minded that I continue, she did for some reason! "Da Noive!" Anyway, nice that she still enjoys our company, so I suppose a well-spent afternoon. Then made a lovely poached salmon with a dill and sour cream pan sauce over salad greens. Yum! The watched a weird, weird, movie. A Ken Russel movie about Oscar Wilde going to a bawdy house and watching a play about Herod and John the Baptist. Ken Russel was ... ... ... odd. But wifey and I are going to Stillwater Minn for the Labor Day weekend and staying at a B&B which has literature themed rooms. Last year, we stayed in the Agatha Christie room, which was decorated as an Orient Express First Class car. This year we are staying in the, you guessed it, Oscar WIlde room. So we have been on a mission to watch as many Oscar Wilde movies as we can before the weekend. Saturday we watched "An Ideal Husband" and the recent "The Importance of Being Earnest."

Heard of another B&B on the other side of the state that is themed Railroad style. We will go sometime next year, most likely:

Tomorrow I have to get up very early to serve as an election judge for a special mayoral election. Have to be there on deck at 06:00. Off at 2pm, then a 7pm church council meeting. A long day to be sure. So may not get much work done today. I am trying to find time to lay down the yard ladder TOs but it might be next weekend before I do. <Sigh>

Have a great day all! -----------------Steve J

Good Morning!
I suppose everyone in the neighborhood thinks I'm some kind of a handyman since I'm retired and so darn handy. The phone keeps ringing and I keep answering. So, this morning I'm headed over to a single women's home to help her with the eavestrough that was beat down in the last horrific hail storm. - I don't mind, really. Secretly, though, I find it a wee bit annoying. I try not to show that, because they are nice people. Just wish they would look up the word 'retired' in the dictionary.

50F this morning with a thick fog blanketing the town; or is that smoke. Sometimes it's hard to tell around here. I think it's a dew fog.
I'm leaving the furnace shut off until the end of September. It's nice not having to pay a big gas bill. If the wife needs heat, she can put on a sweater, or I'll throw some wood into the fireplace.

TomO - Thankyou for the high compliments on my photographs yesterday. Really, though, it's simply a matter of be there, point and shot. I don't have any fancy high tech equipment. Just a monopod to settle down my camera shake. The new camera cost all of $76.00cdn on the Bay. Cheap!

Here come today's photos. All of the same SD70-I, on the same April day in different locations. When switchers are working, they are easy to follow around:

Well, I need to walk the dog and then get that eavestrough fixed. Have a good one!

Good morning from very happily wet So. Central Wisconsin. Another rainy afternoon, late evening and then starting at 6 this morning very heavy. Currently drizzling and per the TV guy just now says will continue till noon and then turn real strong this afternoon. An inside day for sure.

Boris, I am looking forward to the NHL too. So many player moves, so many general managers that are terrible. Love it. I read the best hockey news at Sportsnet.ca. TSN.ca and thehockeywriters.com.

guy, its good to be wanted

Willie, I missed a question you asked a few days ago. Yes, I live in a earth sheltered home with the roof being a living roof. The south opening is 20’ high dropping down to 12’ high on the north end of the house which was formerly known as the master bedroom which in current PC terms is called the owners suite by realtors. I call it our bedroom! It was very interesting watching the “roofers” cover the roof.

Enjoy your day
TomO
