Afternoon All,

Spent the day with Dad. He had a cardiologist appointment and Hospice came to the house to remove all the medical hardware that Mom used. Tomorrow I have a bunch of yard work to do if the weather cooperates.

Joe/Ken/Tom- Thank you for the condolences and well wishes.

Raboliot- I cancelled my FB account in January and have not missed it at all.

Moermusic- My condolences on the passing of your Father.

Willie- More great looking buildings.

This is the small hill I had to build for the mine

Actually I need a real layout. Something L-shaped (8 'x 8'). A pizza layout is a little bit boring, isn't it ?  o_O
You could try a small shunting puzzle, it is like a little shelf and has 2 or 3 tracks left and 2 or 3 tracks right, you then have a puzzle whereby you drop wagons on the tracks and need to shuttle a small loco backwards and forwards as a pick up, these prove quite popular for people who are reduced to small places and if a larger space becomes available you can incorporate the shelf into the larger layout, ensuring the efforts are not wasted, you can then add a low relief engine shed or part of a station and a small backscene it allows a real feel of a true layout.

For gamers the Pile of Shame isn't about the quality of painting... it's we keep purchasing more minis than we can ever hope to paint.

Because, the rule is: as soon as you paint your last mini, you kick the bucket. So always have unpainted minis around.

I'm good at the 80/20 rule on painting. Since I'm a demo guy for one of the companies (usually at gaming conventions when we get those back) I can paint fast and "Good enough for table top" 80 percent of the effort goes into quick painting. I save the other 20 percent for special projects I never have time for.

Most of the players in the new Victory At Sea game (2nd ed) are researching camouflage patterns. I just paint them grey with wood decks, and try to pick out the major details for contrast. Need to run demos. No time to get them super duper nice and historical.

Here's the fleet of German WWII ships. A little more work on the bases and they're off to clear coating today.

Garry - You are correct about some people are unable to be vaccinated due to other health reasons. I had intended to insert something regarding that when I first started the rant, but forgot while typing. I do believe that they are in a small minority based on what I have read. But there are way too many stories here about folks who just felt that they were invincible or thought the whole pandemic was a hoax or just didn't have time; that irritate me. I believe that they are a majority based on the uptick in folks lining up for vaccinations now. Some of these stories being told about those in the hospital being informed that "it's too late now" is probably having a greater impact on vaccinations than all of our leaders and politicians pleading from Washington. These are the people who pose the greatest risk to those who are truly unable to be vaccinated.
Regarding my acquaintance, thank you for your thoughts. The EMS folks in the ambulance told him in the beginning where they had to go because they already knew about the capacity issue at the other places, so it wasn't like they were turned away. In Dallas it was just a matter of a few extra miles because there are so many medical facilities there.
I tend to agree with santafewillie, yes there will be exceptions to those who could get vaccinated I am sure the rant was clearly targeting those who could but chose not to or were too lazy as opposed to have genuine reasons to avoid it, and yes it allows mutations, it risk the medical staff who are fighting literally because they are front line I do not do all the rainbow stuff but I know they they are heroes, and some people - who I do not blame - have left the medical professions because of personal or family concerns, but those who remain, the trainee nurses and drs who stepped up, those who caught it and died deserved better from those who couldn’t be (bloody) bothered. And wanted herd immunity from other peoples efforts.

Howdy ...

Willie .... I like the restaurant, the shipping and storage company, and the market Thanks for posting the photos.

Moermusic .... Condoleances rearguing your father passing away and also your loss of your cousin.

Terry .... I like the SD35 in your photo. The autocorrect joke is harryass .

Curt .... It is good to see you working on your layout.

Jaz ... Thanks much for your thoughts .... I believe we should not rush to judgment when we know of a person who is not vaccinated because we do not know the circumstances. Imagine being an unvaccinated person for valid reasons, and being viciously chastised by overly judgmental people. Not pleasant. So, I think it is best we don't judge people.

Evening, fellas. Or night, I guess.

It's been an interesting week. I've been lucky to be able to afford being in two HO scale clubs side-by-side, both in time and financially. Well, with the way things are and a full tank of gas very close to $50, I'm pulling the pin on the more distant club. Shame, cuz it's arguably the best club in Minnesota (5,000 sq ft room full of layout!), but it has too many growing pains, drama issues and aformentioned distance to make it worth my while these days. I think I'll be missed, but I'm not sure how much I matter amongst 70 members.
I'm going to scale down a little and focus on my first club, which is now trying to grow following some loss and needs some focus. We don't have committees or departments like the 2nd club, but I have the car repair skills, the loco repair skills, and I'm catching on quick to this scenery stuff (and loving it!). We're trying to get ops going (I think..) I found custom-painted, custom-lettered club DC locomotives waiting for a new lease on life, and no one other than me has touched the scenery in a very long time.

Y'all always said scenery was fun and I was never sure about it. Nope, scenery is definitely fun. To think I can throw a bunch of crushed rock, green stuff and weird foam at a surface and make it look like mountain scrub is pretty cool.

Also going to be sending my Genesis Northern Pacific Z8 to Milepost 70 customs for weathering soon. Jon also said he could upgrade the loco's speaker/s for me, theyre way too quiet. I want to hear this beast roar!

I do not disagree with those thoughts in anyway, initially I was ready to duck the vaccine myself, very concerned over the repercussions, and implications, and I am a doubter rather than a sheep, but decided to go with the flow, and I agree do not personally call any one person or family without reason, and who are we to call individuals anyway, who has the right to throw stones, but Santafewillie has a good point the potential for mutations in an unvaccinated population is allowing the potential for a serious mutation, and around the world loads of countries who could are failing to bother, the politics involved are appalling, the WHO have been a total dead loss with advice, the science and lies over the origins have caused many of us to doubt if it is even real, and many can argue the Covid has disrupted our life and yet barely reaches the top 20 killers, could we have done better? Well governments are slow to react, the scientists have different arguments, the politicians are using it for their own purposes, big pharmaceuticals are more interested in making. Massive profits than protecting the human race, we could have done better no doubt, but mostly only in hind sight, I still agree …….on a side note I have been watching the series Travellers and the coincidences over them filming and releasing about a pandemic back in 2017 that touches so much of what is happening now sends (R numbers, purposely released to reduce the population especially of older people sends shivers down my spine, suspicious moi? Yes but still I took the risk and decided on balance to take the vaccine, and cross fingers. I always wear a mask in public, and only go out when Necessary but we kept pretty much to ourselves anyway, and have a reasonable sized home and land so we’re not left like a lot of people in a rabbit hutch going stir crazy. The thing we have to understand is that like the flu this is not going away, and governments need to stop destroying the small business man, and the only true winners are banks.
if too much feel freeto delete

Morning all,

Not much goings on in Doo-Dah where it smoky, partly cloudy and 69° going for a high of 90°.

On vacation next week as I have to burn hours before we actually hire a new tech and the boss retires or I'll accumulate way too and not be able to use it. I foresee us getting busier over the next couple of years as between the new supervisor and myself, we'll be trying to move the city further into the future.

Greetings all!

Made some progress yesterday. I put down that curve the other day - and then took it up because it did not blend well into the turnout. Good idea or bad idea, I am joining the curve to the turnout with a ME code 83-70 transition joiner. I guess it works okay? I still filed down the rails some to help.

ANd I got three turnouts glued down. I'm using latex caulk as adhesive. I pre-drilled for throwbar actuators (looking at Tam Valley Depot servo TO controls down the line) and soldered frog feeders and fed them through drilled holes. Man, soldering feeders to Micro Engineering frogs was not as easy as it sounded. Tough to get the bottom pad of the frog hot enough to take the solder. I did experience a little melting of ties - but not too bad.

Anyway - a toast to my first permanently affixed track!!

Now must run - day 4 of 5 for Vacation Bible School (VBS). And I am getting soooooooooooo tired. Then evening meetings until 2100 or so tonight. TGTF (Thank God Tomorrow's Friday)!
