Karl- Sounds like me. Started over after 16 years(well, 17 by the time everything was official). Best decision I ever made. Happily married 6 years now to my soulmate. Marrying this one the first time would have been slightly illegal, as she’s more than 18 years my junior. But yes, look at all the trains I could have bought in the meantime.They all are, having survived 2 of them (19 years and 10 years) its a wonder that I would even want to try again, but I did. Now I am happier than I ever have been and things are looking better all the time, so there is a silver lining! Just think of all the trains I could have kept had I married this one the 1st time!

Good morning....Watering plants and trees today, no rain for a bit. Another nice day to be poolside. Gotta enjoy it while I can the white stuff will be here before you know it.

Good Sunday Morning Everyone. Clear and 70°, with wind gusts out of the SE at 0 mph. Can't get much more calm than this! Weather isn't going to change much for the next ten days, highs around 95°, lows in the lower 70's.
From the medical front, wife is doing well. We took off the bandages etc, and the incision looks ugly. However it is "glue stitches" and the scar will disappear in about eight months like the other one. No she won't let me take a picture. No rehab yet, too early. The doctor is only recommending "in-home" physical therapy this time around. He was pleased with the recovery of movement last time and decided that she had the willpower to do it herself.
Just a couple of eclairs and an OJ for me today Francine. Need some sweet stuff to kick start the day.
Thanks to all of you who reacted and commented on the current layout progress; Karl, Guy, Jerome, Garry, Sherrel, Phil, Tom. Joe, Curt, Louis, Rick, Bob, James.
Yesterday was not too bad for modeling out in the train shed. I first attached the concrete base with its graffiti on the tenement side.
Now we know why management bricked up the lower windows!
Then I painted all of the window sills, installed all of the windows and glass, and then added a loading dock and canopy to the side of the structure.
I also added a roof exhaust and some coping up top, as you can see in that picture.
And a couple of overall shots of the scene as it now stands.
Still on tap is some weathering, signs, and additional detailing
Coming up will be the ground cover on that side of the tracks, including backdrop enhancement and a Bar Mills wooden fence separating the housing from the main line.
I still have that large blank expanse of plywood between the piggyback ramps and the unseen brewery off the picture to the right. I am hoping to have a large rail-served industry there, but nothing for a while yet.
I did some more testing of the trackwork/switches into the piggyback ramps and I have about a 90% success rate. One car is still giving me fits.
Tom O - Stay safe and get over that Lyme disease. Those fermentation tanks are going to be one heck of a project.
Garry - Sounds like a full house. Enjoy their visits.

That's that California life for you. Kinda crazy out there right now. Released all of the prisoners so they don't have enough firefighters for the wildfires! Air is so bad in areas that they are advising staying indoors and then the electricity is cut off by a rolling blackout since they forced so many power plants to close! Governor is even asking the President for help! Is your area in any danger from the wildfires? I don't see any nearby, yet!
What in my post led you to assume that? Of course we have a large stand alone freezer along with the smaller fridge/freezer combo. Gotta have somewhere to put all of those veggies that I preserve each spring.

My understanding from some acquaintances is that they are having a hard time getting warehouse folks back to work, mainly due to the unemployment bonus.

Oh-Oh! I went out taking photos late yesterday afternoon, so this has the potential to be a long, drawled out posting. I'll try to keep it brief.
Good Morning, Everyone! What a beautiful morning at 49F with broken cloud on blue sky! Can't see any smoke in the air here, even though the Okanagan is on fire as well as California.
I'm gonna give myself a haircut this morning before my shower, and enjoy the day. I've been cutting my own hair for 20yrs already, under the motto 'I've already got the women'.
Spent a bit of time yesterday gluing up the walls of my Atlas structure. In the photo, the roof-top units and roof are not secured, as I want to do some work there. The 6" ruler is just to show scale:
I do not like this building. The front awning is too low, and the scale is off enough to be aggravating. No longer, will it be the Blue-Top Market; more like a Chinese restaurant hidden in the background somewhere, or better yet, farmed out to the G-kids. It was good experience, though, and fun to paint.
Like I said, I went out taking photos late in the afternoon yesterday. There was something different down at the CN yard.
This RDC test car happened to be parked down there;
When I saw that car sitting there, I took it as a God given responsibility to get a few photos; even though there was some train action immediate to the area. A couple of locomotives were pulling up behind it, and CN employees were walking around.
Thankfully, they were nice people, who just wanted to go home after a day's work.

Good morning y'all. 77° and very humid. Going to 86°. Finished a busy week. Thursday, the neighborhood behind us lost power for a little over 24 hours, after another transformer blew. Problem was isolated to one section where they determined that the underground cable was bad. That's what happens when the utility uses the cheap stuff.
Early this morning, a portion of the old Hunting Park Budd Company plant in Philadelphia was involved in a Six Alarm Fire. Not sure what the structure was used for, but some of the early Budd Streamliners were built at Hunting Park, along with numerous auto parts and components. It was quite a fire, from photos and video, so the building had been repurposed.
Last Thursday, I finished my out patient re-hab for my knee. Today I start my at home exercises. See the surgeon in 26 days, for final follow up.
Louis: Nice photos.
Willie: Happy to hear things are going well, with your wife. Warehouse and Intermodal terminal look great.
I have to focus more on my layout as we get closer to fall. Before long it will be too cold for airbrushing and other outdoor painting. Have a lot of yard work looking at me also.
Take a Ride on the Reading, and when you get to Doylestown, this is what you will see. */21/1976.

Good smokey morning. We have continued the Air Quality Alert. Here are a couple of photos. The first was taken a couple of weeks ago and the second this morning.
Sherrel can stop sending this crap any time he wants.
Sherrel - I do hope that your wife is continuing to improve. I also don't move as fast as I used to.
Willie - That building is coming along quite nicely. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Louis - You did post some outstanding photos. Like the mine sweeper and the look out of the cab of the GG-1 is fantastic. Also like the Studebaker next to the streamlined steamer.
McLeod - Also some nice photos. I am and always have been a fan of RDC's. Great photos.
Joe - Can't leave you out. Sure like the Reading electric commuter cars.
We had a little bit of everything running at the club last night. When I got to the depot these MRL units were stopped at the yard entrance.
Here is a commuter train that was a couple of cars short because the guy had the couplers fall off 2 cars and couldn't find the screws.
Here is the DM&IR ore train coming for a meet with my Northern Pacific freight train.
Another member brought his Santa Fe passenger train. The F units were Athearn Genisis with Walthers passenger cars.
Lastly here is a Burlington freight train with a couple of FT units at the head end with a geep. I'm sure Garry will like this one.
Time to get outside and move the rainbirds.
