Lynda Carter was always my favorite Greek Goddess!
We went to Pizza Hut yesterday for a large stuffed crust pizza - just so we'd have leftovers for tonight. I'll probably make a sammich with some of that double smoked ham I made last week. Then pizza for tonight.
Hope you all have a fun Sunday, whichever flavor of it you celebrate.
Good evening all
Got home about 2 hours ago from Florida. It was a great trip. We left this morning at 4:45am, so it took us a little over 15 hours.
Didn't take many photos since this is our 4th time going to Destin, and the area is becoming very familiar to us.
Took the opportunity this week to take some time off and disconnect from the online world including the forum. It was actually kind of nice. Didn't even worry about the news or anything like that.
will be marvelous to sleep in my own bed tonight!
I have like 13 pages to try and catch up on, but will probably only read the last few days.
You did not miss much in the real world. Whatever you knew about when you left except for shootings, accidents and fires pretty much is the same crap.of course the forum is different as we evolve daily! We have driven by Destin but never pulled over to visit. We have stayed next door in Fort Walton Beach.
I got a drunk driving ticket back in 1975. I had it reduced to speeding. That woke me up to the play hard, party hard Louis describes. How many alcoholic drinks have I've had since maybe 3 beers and 2 drinks. Some people I know who had these knee replacements operations say their in constant pain now. I don't know what causes the knee to go bad in the first place. Anyone here know?

Good Morning All. Happy Easter to you. Cloudy and 63° after a night of light thundershowers. The t-storms were nearby and we got off and on light rain all night. Between yesterday and last night I now have 1.75" in the rain gauge and all of the blades of grass are clean. It appears to have all moved east of here, but it is still raining at my daughter's where I'll be in a couple of hours.
Yep! It's the big family Easter Sunday egg hunt and luncheon today, that I am hosting for 45 of my siblings, spouses, offspring and families. We no longer do sit-down dinners on Easter as it is just too many folks these days. I provided 2 whole pork shoulders and my SIL graciously volunteered to smoke them on his smoker for pulled pork sliders.
That's it for now, as I have stuff to prepare and pack to bring with me.
Good morning and Happy Easter for those that celebrate it as a holiday or a religious day.
Weather in So. Central Wisconsin should be ok, 40f degrees now maybe 50 later. The winds are calm and actually almost nonexistent right now at 1mph! The daughter and her hubby are doing the feast for the day. In the last 30 years this will only be the 2nd Easter where we did not go to a big brunch, the other was Covid, 2020. Boy that was a messed up year. I think more polarizing than even 9/11 was.
We are home because the daughter’s Mother in Law said they no longer could afford the Easter brunch out. So Kait said fine we will have it here after getting a ok from Terry. MIL did not like the menu and had suggestions like add prime rib, lobster and crab legs. The son in law told his mom that will not be happening. From there it got ugly. Just in case enough was made if the mother in law and step-dad do show up at 11am. The daughter and hubby are preparing everything except the giant Carrot cake Terry made yesterday. 2 of the kids old neighbors will be joining us. I know the SIL started his smoker at 8am Saturday and was out there at 5 this morning playing with it. No clue what the actual menu is until I sit down and I was told not to ask. I was only promised there will be “some” bacon for me
I spent more on clothes and shoes yesterday than combined since 2014 when I retired. We did in store shopping and last night my 2 pushers (daughter and wife) finished up online. Today I have to go through my closet and pull most of my old clothes except 2 pair of shoes, my jeans and 5 everyday T-shirts. Everything else including sport jackets, suits and dress shirts is going to St Vincent DePaul. I rarely carry cash. But I always kept a stash on me if I was with clients. If I was with clients I generally wore a sports coat or suit so I will be carefully checking the pockets. Any $$$ I find will become train money with 10% going to my helper, the grandson. I did promise a minimum of $10 if the 10% is less. He is already down the street shooting hockey pucks with a new teammate in his driveway
I doubt I’ll get anytime in the train room. I watched parts of 2 NHL playoff games yesterday. During the 2 intermissions I sat through I only cut the wire for 50+ trees. I am hoping to get all the wire cut for 250-300 trees during the intermissions of the next 4 games 2 today and 2 Monday. If not they’ll get cut Tuesday. The fun stuff, twisting them into trunks and branches should start Wednesday night. Most of the finished trees will be in the 8” height range
Or in my dad's case, he got charged at by a very angry pig, his co-workers managed to get out in time, most of my dad did except for one leg and as a result, said heavy pile of bacon rammed straight into my dad's knee, tearing the cartilage.
In those days (about 1979 if I recall) they just removed the damaged cartilage and left it at that, needless to say my dad's knee is well and truly unserviceable, it locks into position as the bones of the knee joint that should be round are in fact square...
Here's how they fixed an ACL tear in my dog. Tore the first one last June and the canine ortho surgeon said she would eventually tear the other one. She did about 3 months later in October. I joked to the surgeon that dogs have become a luxury item and he said, "it's mainly large dogs." Just our luck.
Gomez the cartilage gets worn down from what? To much hard work. I know an office secretary who had her knee replaced and a railroad signal department employee that had a desk job have his knee replaced. So where's the wear down occur?
Swal

Some of it's genetic, some of it is from being too fat, working conditions, and some time it's just bad luck.
My wife wore heels and stood on her feet for 10 years after high school athletics. That's all it took. Only one in her family that has/had knee issues.
I wrestled up to the beginning of college and powerlifted 15 years after that. Squatting 3x my weight didn't damage the knee cartilage, but I do have some arthritis in the knees and some compression of my L3 &L4.
