Good afternoon to all......

Willie : I really like this scene. The Chevy truck has some of the nicest detailing I have seen in a long time.

I'm up! Not sure what today brings, but I'm up.

A Nap! That's what I will need today.

In interesting news yesterday, MIL went in to see the docs about her defibulator/pacemaker...
"Did you know you're in AFIB, and have been since December?"
That's when her congestive heart failure kicked off...

"We need to do an Inversion procedure and can get you in this week..."

Well, MIL isn't thinking clearly since her heart isn't working right. So the wife's sis who was with MIL at the time (Sis is a nurse) couldn't schedule the procedure until MIL checked with my wife (the medical lab tech). Wife complains that she doesn't understand why her mother won't let them schedule right then!

Frustration with their mother is high, but her heart isn't working correctly. Hopefully today they will get the inversion scheduled. After that they want to do an ablation on the heart, to create some scarring to help it not go back into AFIB as easily. But, that requires Medicare to get involved. I told them good luck dealing with Medicare on it.

Yep... today, I'm going to need a nap. And, perhaps, a donut or two.

Weather has been sunny and warmish enough to get out for walks. Trying to get back in that habit again. This weekend won't be conducive for putting one foot in front of the other, but the following week should be.

Also, I learned there is such a thing as "Nordic Walking"

Basically, use hiking pole in the style of Cross Country Skiing, to get you swinging your arms, and provide some "push" with each stick.

Here's a short vid showing it, but the explanation of how is lacking.

Good morning gang!

37° this morning under partly cloudy skies. Looking for a daytime high of 45°.

Playing hooky from work today as I have a 130 cardiologist appointment. Of course the wife is going with me to record every little detail of the cardiologist. More on that later.

Maybe a haircut afterwards, and if it’s good news from the cardiologist may be a trip to Home Depot for some masonite for backdrops.

Later game!

Good morning Crew. Wisconsin weather is Spring like. Cool overnights and decent days. It’s 43f degrees at 7:31CST but at 5:30 it was 30. Later today we might reach 70.

The walk this morning was fast moving. Basically at the end we were 3 groups instead of 1. I was in the middle group as I’m just not ready or able for a 14 minute mile. We seem to have added 3 full timers and 4 part timers to the group in the 3 weeks since I joined. One of the new women is 45 years old and reminds me of an assistant in looks and mannerisms I had years ago. Problem is I can’t recall the assistants name but I remember the mannerisms and body! Awkward. Told Terry and she said ask her if they r related.

We saw Alton Brown from the Food Network touring show last night. He’s a chef and host on the network and very funny. We really had no idea what his one man show was about but it was entertaining.

8am Clinic appointment with Terry’s lead doctor. She seems good recovering from her bout of dehydration. But her COPD wheezing is getting louder and she thinks I’m nuts. My appointment today was moved to tomorrow at 7:50am.

Enjoy the day

Good Morning All. Cloudy skies this morning at 66°, still expecting 86° after a brief break in the cloudiness around noon sometime. Wind continues around 15-20 mph until at least Monday. Since they are from the south, they are bringing lots of Gulf Coast humidity which will eventually turn to thunderstorms over the weekend. The forecast is for nearly 2" of rain on Saturday, with lesser amounts on Sunday.

I mowed some more yesterday, it will be a four day a week event until late-June. It's what happens when the mowable part of the property is 3+ acres. I'm a bit ahead as I got the south, southwest and west sides yesterday. Trying to stay ahead of the rain. I picked a whole bag of Spinach & mixed loose leaf Lettuce yesterday from the garden.

Today is the weekly grocery trek; not sure what's up after that besides the dishwasher once again. Either today or tomorrow, I will apply a layer of compost in the Tomato rows in the garden in advance of the rain.

Out in the train shed yesterday, it was mostly clean-up. Vacuumed the floor and removed trash and the packaging materials from the new beer fridge. It wasn't easy getting that old fridge into the dumpster, but I managed to do it without hurting myself. After touching up the paint on that small shed Tuesday, I decided to add a couple of roofers to it making repairs.

I'll be making some miniature shingles for them next.

I wonder how Mike is enjoying his Spring Break vacation in Destin. We haven't heard from him like we did last year.

Today is Holy Thursday, sometimes referred to as Maundy Thursday. It commemorates the day of the Last Supper.
Everyone have a great day today.

I contacted Ebay 2 days ago and checked the box for never received order that I placed about 6 weeks ago. They refunded my money today. That was a very fast refund.
Playing 9 holes of golf at 3 pm again today. We start playing 18 holes soon when the weather starts warming up. In the summer months golf takes up most of my time. I've been playing the game for 71 years now. It was great to live in Pawling NY where the kids under 18 played for free at the local golf course.

My dad was a lifer with IBM. We lived in Endicott/Endwell during the 1960's. The IBM country club pools were our hangout in the summer and the hilly golf course was our sled trails in the winter.

Good morning, all! A rather nice day here in H-Town, but going to get very warm. Rain is forecasted for Easter Sunday, so the egg hunt for the g-grandkids may not happen. Yesterday I finished the well filter project. No leaks in my piping, but a leak on one of the filter housings. I'm guessing that in a day or two we should have filtered, iron removed, condition and sanitized water. Change oil and filter on the mower and mower the hobo camp. Unfortunately, I have not seen the train room in about a week. I haven't completed the Mudd Creek kit I was working on, nor have I "planted" the Antique shop.

The Peeps discussion early made me ask my AI assistant, "How many Peeps would it take to stop a locomotive rolling at yard speed?"

Stopping a locomotive with marshmallow Peeps is an intriguing (and sticky!) thought experiment! To tackle this, we’d need to consider the locomotive’s speed, weight, and the squishiness of the Peeps. Assuming "yard speed" is around 10 mph (a rough estimate), and the locomotive weighs hundreds of tons, the challenge is immense. Peeps are soft, squishy, and have almost no structural strength, meaning they'd compress easily without exerting much force to stop the train. Let’s wildly hypothesize: we’d need an absolutely absurd quantity of Peeps to create enough resistance to absorb the kinetic energy of the train. This number could potentially stretch into trillions—creating a marshmallow mountain the size of a warehouse. Even then, it might be more of a mess than a solution. Of course, this is more confectionery chaos than physics reality, but it’s a delightful idea to chew on, isn’t it?

STAY SAFE
LATER

Morning all,

Vacation still sucks. Supposed to be windy and 93° later this afternoon.

Logged in a cleared a couple of calls I could do remotely. Backend and not end user stuff. Went fine at the daughter's house yesterday. Stayed and picked up the girls from school, which they like. They are coming here for the night and day tomorrow as they are out of school for Good Friday as are the local 2, who will also come tomorrow.

Monday the roofers come, hopefully they can get it done in one day.

Yesterday was mid 60s. This morning it was raining early (pee run at 6-something). You could hear it on the roof. Father a pleasant sound. When I fell out of bed around 9 (90 min ago) it was raining though not as hard. Again you can hear it.

Now I look out the window and see white stuff falling. My sensor in the outside says 36F. It won’t amount anything but it’s wild and wacky the swings you get in spring.

You can see it here if you look and expand the pic:

Also why I was in bed until 9am. I was up late talking to a former coworker in India and then I had to let some stuff charge before going to bed so I read a while. Reading some history while my watch charged. I wear the watch to bed as it tracks heart rate and O2 sat while I sleep.

The last few days I’d been getting up and out walking around the neighborhood in the morning. About 2 1/2 miles my watch claims with some hood elevation change. I need to adjust the route to get it over 3 miles. With the rain today I’m not going out. Maybe this evening I can get walk in. I need the exercise.

Good mornin' crew. It's 40 and partly cloudy in Cheyenne this AM. Winds are from the north @ 17 gusting to 27. High this afternoon of 50 and a low tonight of 22. Possibility of rain turning to light snow later. Accumulations of 1" or less.

Cardiologist visit went OK. All the heart stuff is OK, but but hemoglobin, etc. is still low. Diagnosis is pernicious anemia, along with the a-fib and UC. Treatable, but because of the UC, I don't tolerate oral iron supplements very well so it's probably going to be monthly IV therapy.

Did get a little more done on the layout. Finished prep on backdrop wall and leveled up the two modules. Workbench cleared off so I can get back on the foundry & machine shop structures. Ordered some flex track, turnouts and metal wheelsets.

Time to refill the coffee mug and find something to stick between 2 pieces of bread... Y'all have a good day and take care.
