All of this talk about steak houses led us to go and try out the Longhorn Steakhouse that just opened two months ago in Denton. We've been waiting for them to get everything together before finally going. Not bad, I rate it at an 8.5 of 10. The Texas Roadhouse across the freeway rates a 9. It might get higher, but it is the noisiest eatery that I have ever been to. We've eaten at the one in West Monroe LA twice on road trips and it's just as noisy. Better than both is Saltgrass, but they haven't strayed too far from Texas although there are a few elsewhere.

I deleted my email app and then reinstalled. Worked for about 1 hour. Deleted again and installed, rinse and repeat. It’s been working maybe 2 hours now. The coincidence the son and I have come up with is this all started the evening the daughter and family moved in Tuesday. So it has to be internal, we’ll figure it out.
Sounds like something your daughter's family has, is using the same permissions as what you're using. Maybe the email program she has on a tablet or laptop is conflicting with yours, because they're both trying to do the same thing for different accounts.

Tom (Cambria) - I just painted my I-beam load as already primed, pre-numbered and ready for use.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with steak houses nearby.

MIL is home

Wife was worn out from all the mom time

Went to Logan's Road House for dinner. Got my 6oz sirloin. Wife got the meatloaf and noticed a significant downsize in the portion quantity. Not outrageous, but enough that she mentioned it. Maybe reduced by 25%. We'll see if that was a one off, or a new size when we go back again.

While we were there, the manager of my favorite mom&pop mexican place came in with his family. Thought it was him, but he never made eye-contact. Until we were almost finished, and a hunk of squished roll came flying past my wife's shoulder. Looks like his 4-5 year old grandson had tried to start a food fight with his mother across from him. Grandpa (manager) did the apology and recognized us.

Not much going on here today. I finished up building the little toy soldiers I needed to. Only three more units to build in that army. More to paint up, but the building is the PIA part.

Going to shower in a few minutes, then head out for a donut, gas, and a grocery run. I'm going to start adding to the reserves I keep on hand for anything possible. Dish soap, toothpaste, flour, sugar, etc. Too many products include produce or ingredients from outside the US, prices are going to go up.

Look like the Nikkei had their auto-stop triggers kick in this morning. Probably going to be a rocky ride on the stock markets again.

I do get my ears lowered this morning. Not sure what will happen after that.

Hello. It’s Monday and I woke up feeling out of sorts at 5. No biggie as I didn’t have the best of sleep nights. 15 minutes after wake-up though I was in the bathroom clutching the porcelain throne. I cannot remember the last time that was not chemo induced I’ve done that. I was fine going to bed at 11:45 last night. I feel ok now and am dressed for my 6am group walk. This might be a long day.

Good morning all!

Currently 36F and only heading up to 44F with cloudy skies.

Got the mower out and serviced yesterday. Surprised it fired up from sitting for 5 months without having to put a charger on it for a couple hours.
Its year 5 on that battery and thought I would have to replace it this year,

No real plans for today. we shall see what comes of it.

Have a safe day everyone!

Morning all,

32° and clear this morning, high later of 66°.

Busy day yesterday. Wife is the sponsor for the oldest granddaughter on her confirmation. when she left to spend the day at church, I ran out and got Easter basket stuff for the grandkids, then cam home and put the first application of fertilizer and crab grass preventor down, and then got busy with the weedkiller. Dandelions and bindweed thought I gave up as I couldn't kill them last year between the surgeries. How twisted was it that I had Randy Quaid's character from "Independence Day" echoing in my head, "Hello boys, I'm Baacckkk!"🤣 Then I came in and made bierocks for supper and was ready when the wife got home. I saw leaves starting to curl about 7:00p.

After the snow fell along RT 66 this weekend, wife thought we ought to wait to do the route as it looked like winter isn't quite over in the highlands. So, we're possibly watching grandkids instead. Either way, I'm off next week as I have to take the time.

Bathroom project is gonna snowball as I've been directed to look for a replacement for the vanity in our master bathroom. The faux marble one piece sink is badly stained from years of cigarettes by a former owner and we've just lived with it. I'm afraid when I pull the sink, I'll damage the vanity, so if I take it out in one piece, less to worry about. Flooring is already in our basement waiting install. The hold up has been the shower.

welp... Meijer (grocery) had a sale for Spiral Sliced Hams at 89¢ a lb... Must be moving the old inventory before Easter special at 99¢/lb kicks in.

So, i'll be tossing the ham on the Kamado to do a double smoke on it. I need to grump at the wife about the cornbread. It used to be awesome... lights and an almost fluffy, yet cornmeal grainy texture. It got more cake like for several months. I figured it was the humidity or barometric pressure... Nope. She'd been substituting some of the flour and sugar with her "natural" alternatives

I like it the good way, not the healthy way.

Hi, I’m back. Walked about 1/2 mile when I decided to turn back and go home. I’ve slept in my chair for almost an hour. I feel ok but will be sticking close to the bathrooms this morning.

Against my better or is it lack of judgement I just purchased another Athearn Genesis CN gp40-2w from a weathering client. If it wasn’t a client I would have passed as a too good to be true deal. It’s heading to the painter in Oklahoma and I should see it in June in Wisconsin Interstate colors

Have a great day

Good Morning All. Clear and 34° here. Wide variance in local temperatures this morning, the Weather Underground station a mile away is showing 39°; about 4 miles west there's one that shows 37°. However those in a 10 mile radius south and east are all showing 31°-33°. The warmer areas are all open countryside while the cooler ones are all close to a small town of 10K people. Warming up with maybe 70° today, mid-70's tomorrow and over 80° for the next 8 of the 10 day forecast. This is a typical La Niña weather pattern for us, warmer and drier than normal Winter & Spring. I'll let the fire go out in the wood-burning stove today, maybe until November.

Another slow and roll with it day yesterday here on the SFW estate. Everything prior to noon revolved around Mass and then it was weekly laundry time for the bed linens. I finally got around to removing the beer from the car after Thursday's grocery trek. No puddles left on the trip out to the beer fridge in the train shed.
Had to listen to my wife who wanted me to get out of the stock market except for the three specific stocks that she hand-picked. Those are actually losing at a greater % than the ETF's that I have more $$$ invested in. I'm listening to Warren Buffett and want to buy and hold. So far I am down about $25K this year, but I am $27K ahead of the start of 2024. It will however, take weeks if not months to recover whenever that starts. Just waiting for the right foreign government to drop their tariffs to get the ball rolling. Meanwhile American businesses will milk this for price hikes immediately even though there are months worth of goods already in the pipeline here.

Unfortunately I didn't get much time in the train shed yesterday, so what little time there was I spent running a couple of unit trains from staging to the opposite end staging. I had some uncoupling issues that I quickly fixed. I found a pair of Scaletrains Dash9-44CW's that I failed to convert the couplers to Kadee ones. I usually do that as soon as I take them out of the box, but somehow missed these two. Their scale couplers like all other scale couplers don't act well with my fleet of KD #5's and #148's. Plus, they are plastic.

Terry - Your comment regarding "Buy high, sell low and make it up in volume", reminds me of a staff meeting at work many years ago. The VP of Sales commented after the VP of Finance told everyone that we were losing $1 on every patio door that we sold to a certain high $$$, high volume mobile home customer. He said "But look at the volume that they bring"!!! He actually meant that their high volume reduced the costs of making and selling the doors to all other customers. He was pressured into raising their price factor soon afterward.
Troy - I missed the Little Fingers joke since I don't watch TV. Don't bother explaining it though. I'm familiar with that variety, but I still feel that filling that container with soil nearly to the top would produce better results. They'll be a bitch to peel! Meanwhile the Radish and Lettuce look really good. How's the covert crop doing? Gardening to some is really serious business. I have angst over it some times, but the stress level has almost gone away after I started working closer with Mother Nature than trying to stretch her limits. It's like this season, I bought but haven't set out the Tomato plants and last night's temperature drop has proved me right this time.
Many of those healthy recipes make food that tastes like cardboard. Many others are great though.

I don’t understand complaints about Ruth Chris or Fleming Steakhouses. You should know before you get there you’ll be paying way too much.
Very true.
Open Table works well for us also, the very few times that we have had to use it. Mainly on out of town places and on trips. No restaurants in the local area accept reservations unless you are planning a party of 8 or more though. Or maybe I just don't go to the more exclusive places.
Mike - Yep! We noticed the same thing about Red Lobster too. Shrimp skewers that used to have 6 shrimp now have five for an increased price. Many other items have also shrunk.
It must be nice that you only have to mow 7 months a year. I do it 10 and even sometimes 12 months some years. August is one of my off months! But I never have to shovel sunshine!
Marlin - Copycat recipes exist on the Internet for almost anything that can be gotten at chain restaurants, and I use some of them myself. But we still like to go out once a week just for the service and ambiance.

Of course today is National Beer Day, commemorating the end of Prohibition.
Everyone have a great day. It appears that the Stock Market has made a temporary U-turn after being down for the first 30 minutes.

Willie, this is the most important post of the day!🍻

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was referring to fine dining, white tablecloth, not chain restaurants. You are correct that you can find Escoffier's recipes online, but knowing the techniques & skills to get it done without spending the whole day in the kitchen is the difference.

Gordon Ramsay is one of the best technical chefs out there.

Terry’s having a good morning she says on her computer. She does come out for more coffee.

Based on your YouTurn comment I went and looked at our regular portfolio. Of the 34 stocks we have 21 are down since the opening. Including both our biggies, BRK-A and BRK-B. She won’t sell any of those 34 without talking to me first but will buy more.

I’m not going into her office but I know she’s been conversing with our son and my brother. As long as they are having fun and since I am hearing laughing I think I’m ok. So far not the blood bath she was predicting.

As a request from me, please drink more Dr Pepper and Keurig products. The stock is trending in the wrong direction…

Just kidding, drink what you like

I’m heading to the showers and a 20 minute nap. Then I will see how the afternoon unfolds

Good mornin' crew. Here in Cheyenne its a clear and sunny 36, headed for an afternoon high of 66. Winds are light WNW @ 7. Low tonight 44. No precipitation in the immediate forecast. Warmer and dry this week with highs in the high 60s and low 70s. Looks like a nice week ahead.
Quiet weekend except for NJ(ret) coughing and sneezing. The dry climate and the grass and weed pollens wreak havoc on here allergies. Guess the Zyrtec finally gave her some relief.
No mrr work this weekend, but going to try to take advantage of the nice weather this week and get started assembling the two benchwork modules. I've got GI stuff scheduled for Thursday so no mrr that day and possibly Friday.
Y'all have a good week and take care.
