Spent the evening restoring as best I can the dust jacket cover of my latest acquisition to my reference library which arrived this morning:

Dates back to 1966!! Slightly older than I but not by much...

Maybe you can budget a few dollars to buy yourself something when you are in Japan.
I've budgeted for a few pacs of containers. I always get a few packs of containers. Try and fined new ones I don't have. I'm not "modeling" any era and my tastes are "looks cool" but tend to be the last few decades so I'm bound to find something new and interesting in the land of Japanese containers.

Though looking at these on Amazon it seems I probably have most of these (may or may not but they look "familiar"):

This is a more expensive company and more likely to have specialty ones. Don't see much here but the shops will have a bigger selection (ignoring the unpainted ones):

This is a better list and I'll stop by this guy's shop in Kobe. He's super nice and has a lot of stuff stuffed into his store:

No big purchases on the horizon right now.

For "Liberation Day", the day the tariffs are supposed to come into effect, I didn't expect the market to be up. But I just checked and it is up today on all indexes and in my wife's self-directed account for the 401 that I manage.

Just an observation and I am not trying to start any sort of political discussion. Use the info in any way you want.

Market's a fickle thing. They were expecting higher tariffs than what was announced.

And with the pummelling early this week, today was profit taking day and buying low.

Scale Trains have added shipping fee under $399.00 order.
yea, this is a little upsetting. Not that they upped their free shipping threshold, but they are also charging it on pre-existing pre-orders (according to the newsletter). The Gunderson high cube boxcars I have had on pre-order for almost a year now will now have a shipping charge when I pre-ordered them with the pretense of getting free shipping. The dilemma is do I buck it up, or vote with my wallet and not take them?

Though not quite as bad as Athearn sending an email to customers saying we are raising prices on everything across the board, even stuff that's already here and in our warehouse.

Athearn will have to pay the tariff to replace the items they sell. I know when I ran the gas station and the price of gas went up, I didn't wait until I sold all the old gas before I raised the price. That's how business has been done for a very long time, it just hasn't been broadcast that it's being done.

And with that, I'm off to bed. It was a long day yesterday.

We've got T-storms until about 2 am. It's 71 F-degrees right now, but that will change. Fort Wayne is in the clear area by the right hook. But that line of T-storms extends down to Tennessee. So we might get some T-warnings. Right now they're all NW of us.

For a change I'll be going to bed early tonight. Have to get up around 4:45am so we can leave at 5:30am for Cedar City, for my daughter's Utah Summer Games water polo tournament that is Thursday through Saturday... Hopefully I can fall asleep...

I'll intermittently. I won't have my computer but will take our iPad and have my phone.

It's about a 3 1/2 drive not including stops. We usually make a bathroom stop in Scipio, or actually at the Scipio exit on I-15. Scipio itself is a little ways away I think. But there is a small truck stop type place there we always stop at... Hopefully I can make it to Cedar City without too many bathroom stops... :)

Good Morning All!
36F @ 73% kinda cloudy, kinda dark.

New to us.

This is 'Lefty', she is about 6 YO. Kinda a rescue dog. Owner would leave her alone for a week or more at a time while taking his other dog with him. She did have plenty of food and water and she doesn't seem to be abused. Blue Healer cross with another type that I don't remember right now. So far, other than her bad manors, sweet little dog. Jumps on furniture, beds, and people - but that can be fixed pretty simple. Don't think I have heard her bark yet. And since she a 6, way past the chew everything stage. Gets along with our 2 dogs, and the 4 cats ... so far. Figured out where the 'doggie door' was almost immediately. She did not have one at the other place. Owner would let her in/out when he was there.

We will see how it goes.

Nice looking girl.

Safe travels, and good luck to your daughters team!

There has to something done to prevent multi-billionaires on both sides from contributing money to these campaigns
Interesting article from Reuters found on the Fidelity Investment Web page, concerning trade policy, and the "end" of a loophole known as "de minimis." Article went on to explain that much of the uproar, is an abrupt change in a trade policy dating back 75 years ago. This would coinside with the slow decline of the US as the worlds most powerful manufacturing economy, merchant marine, and ship builder in the world over the same 75 years. Gist is we adopted free trade, but none of our trading partners did, some were very protectionist, (and still are). If this article is right, then the blame rests on government, regardless of which party is /was in power at a given time. They all screwed us, and the money people you speak of like it that way...obviously. And makes this a non political discussion.

Spent the morning at Jersey Shore Medical Center, doing a pre-op for an upcoming hernia surgery. Nothing unusual, EKG, Blood Draw, and Chest X-ray. Some of the results are already up on the Hospital Portal. On the way home, we stopped for lunch at a Diner. A real Jersey Diner. Had a California Cheeseburger Deluxe, while the wife had French Toast and Sausage. Even though I was hungry from fasting for the blood work, I could not finish it all, like I used to...(Wife couldn't finish hers either). Great meal, for under $50, including tip.

This evening, I spent time working on the layout.

Piece of the puzzle-04_02_2025.jpg

I call this pieces of the puzzle, as I had to fit everything into an odd sized lot. Roof and truck lot need paint, sidewalk needs to be completed, and plants and weeds need to grow along the tracks.

Overview 04_02_2025.jpg

This "overview" shows what needs to be completed, as well as what's there. Engine #6, (My old Company), is represented, Along with the Francis Asbury ME Church. Across the street, the beer, wine and liquor distributor and warehouse, and the actual row houses behind the church. The new Flour Mill complex is to the right off the photo. It's finally coming together.

No joy in Charm City tonight, Boston over the Orioles 3-0 at the Yards 👎
