Good Morning all,

Surviving, here. Thursday and Friday went pretty well - except for Thursday, that is. But Friday, wife forgave me and all is well again. Won't bore you with details but I was stupid - again.

Spent a quiet day yesterday. Wife took the two daughters for a nails/shopping run. Youngest daughter flies to Michigan next Sunday to get her guide dog for the blind! The training is pretty intensive, as it ought to be. They are instructed to bring shoes and clothes for walking up to 5 miles ever day, rain or shine. So we bought her some good shoes and a few other things.

Because of the short fuse, she has a lot of things to buy to support said dog, and not much time to save up to do so. Mom and I are helping with big things like bills, etc. (she is off work for three weeks. Taking short term disability but that does not kick in until week #2 and then only pays 60% - so she loses a bunch of income). So she put together a "wish list." Nobody has to help, but perhaps someone here might have the means to help. This dog will be a huge help to her life and mobility: [admins - if this is inappropriate, please delete]

SHe is hoping for a German SHepherd breed but won't know until week 2 of the training. The teams will pair her to a dog that is ready based on a number evaluations on-site. She wants a German Shepherd since she travels so much in Minneapolis and St. Paul, and figures the GS will help deter undesirables. The cities are not as nice as they once were.

Anyway, I had the day to myself. I did prep work, but also train work, YAY! I put in the 2d UP5 panel. Of course, I just see that Digitrax is now shipping the UP7 panels! Oh well. I can now run trains from three points of my layout. So I did just that! Fun.

I did some config on the new BLI NW2 diesel switcher. Nice loco. The diesel start-up-shut-down sound sequences are fun. Cleaned the wheel (which were not too dirty, perhaps BLI is changing their procedures to do this at the factory?) and set the CV133 may lower for initial sound level. Probably spent a good 2 -3 hours total, just running trains.

Also took a bit of a snooze while watching an old movie, then got ready to make dinner. Dau and SIL spent the night here so they could sleep in and still make Church at 10:00I made my Spaghetti Puttanesca which everyone loves and came out great. One glass of whisky (Lagavulin 8 yr-old) and wine with dinner. Knee was most uncomfortable as the evening progressed. I bent it wrong whilst under the table running the RJ12 cable for the UP5. That bothered me a few times through the night.

Big church day, of course, then a nap. SIL cooking on the grill in the 38 F temps with rain/snow predicted, and of course I'll help with that. Making Chicken Souvlaki and lamb chops! Yummers! French fries are big to Greeks, so bought a big bag of frozen the other day. We're having the dau and SIL, youngest dau and a friend of SIL so will be a nice dinner.

Well, best be off to polish the "Keynote Address." Get to preach to the "Easter Lilies" today!

Easter Blessings to all! -----Steve J

Good morning from the coldness of So. Central Wisconsin. 22 now feels like 22 and I see no branches moving in the trees. The last 3 days those trees were bending almost touching the ground. It may hit 45 this afternoon. Family minus the brother and his g/f have arrived for the Easter get together. Brunch out at 11:30.

The 6 horses Terry purchased in Texas and Oklahoma have arrived back at noon yesterday. Seems the guys wanted to be home for today. The normally auto driven trip is 12 hours but with horses who need exercise and feeding stops took the 17 hours planned. Glad to see all back and Terry was thrilled yesterday with the animals when she checked on them when she got here. The animals seemed relaxed in the stalls.

Trains, I just can’t seem to concentrate on what maybe become a rather large diorama formerly known as the layout. Again great intentions yesterday but nothing significant happened. I did some more work on weathering a piece of rolling stock.

Not quite happy with it at this time and this was a shot from around 6am yesterday. I just realized I have no pictures of how it looked last evening. I fixed the look of the dump bin and hatch covers. Oh well!

Until later this afternoon I doubt I can get into the train room. A swim this morning before brunch is in my plans, other then that, no plans. Enjoy your Easter if you celebrate, I will in my own way!

Good Morning!
24F out there on this fine Easter Sunday morning!
It's going to be a nice day in the train room, because I don't need to weed the garden. In fact, I don't need to worry about anything growing out of control out in the garden plot. Photo from 10 minutes ago:

G-kids won't be coming over until tomorrow; it's a free Sunday. My only chore is to walk the dog, and I'll take care of that right away. Then I hope to do some modelling and train room stuff.

It could be worse! I'm hearing they got a couple feet of snow in areas of Manitoba.

TomO - I think the open hopper looks very good. Professionally done.

Troy - The M3 Rabbitmobile appears to be of Polish design.

Mikey - Every time I walk into a dollar store, I look through the Hot Wheels and dinky toy selection for something close to1/87. I can never find anything smaller than 1/64, which is too bad, because they sell'em cheap.

Have a good Easter, if you observe it as a special day. I hope it's a good one for you.

Good Morning All. Happy Easter. Cloudy here and 51°. probably will hit 80° later when the clouds dissipate. Despite cloudy and north winds all day long yesterday, it did get up to 76° and was quite pleasant. Thunderstorms have disappeared from today's forecast.

The social plans have changed for today. Instead of Easter brunch when I go and retrieve my wife from babysitting duties, I'll be going to my other daughter's home for an early evening prime rib dinner. My SIL likes to cook and serve them. So, back into the freezer went the one that I purchased and intended to fix today; it was only out for about a half hour and hadn't thawed a bit. Of course that set all of my other plans topsy-turvy for both today and tomorrow. Nothing important that can't wait though.

Yesterday, I did get the few remaining tomato plants replanted as well as planting the second half of the green bean row. I had no plans to be there this morning. I missed posting a picture of a broccoli plant yesterday, so here it is this morning.

And here is a picture of the green beans beginning to emerge

Since that shot was taken on Friday, many more plants emerged in that row overnight.

Thanks for the comments and likes for the garden progress pictures yesterday; Sherrel, OB Ken, Hughie, Guy, Karl, Tom O, IB Ken, Patrick, Curt, Louis, Tom, George, James, Steve J.

Once again yesterday, I didn't visit the train shed, just because! I won't be home today either so my little people will really miss me when I get out there tomorrow.

Guy/Patrick - Sad to read about your negative experiences in the woods and by the lake. It's a real shame that there are folks like that anywhere. At the testing clinic that I was at last week, there was a kid who kept climbing up on a chair and turning off the light switch. All mom did was to take him down and turn the lights back on, repeatedly. Never even said a word to him, just undid what he did. He did it at least five times and out of politeness I really had to bite my tongue, hard!

Everybody have a safe and blessed day.

Almost forgot . . . . . Last night while lying awake, I heard, Train whistles!! And I live in a suburban residential "No Whistle" zone. I'm pretty sure it was the CP line which runs not too far from us.

What would make a train sound its horn at 0200 in a no whistle zone? Can't be good, I'm thinking.

A vehicle in the crossing, a trespasser, or even an engineer that feels there is something "safety related" that he should blow for a crossing.

Good morning all! Mostly cloudy and 41 heading for partly sunny and 54. Never really did know the difference between mostly cloudy and partly sunny, but I'll leave that to the weather prognosticators.

Got to spend quite a bit of time outside yesterday. Gave the lawn its first mowing of the season since it had already started looking pretty terrible. Bought a new zero turn mower last year because the old one got to be a major maintenance hassle/expense. The new one ran like a champ and the yard looks much better. For the trimming and up-close to the house parts, our old push mower had also gotten to be more trouble than it was worth, so a while back I bought a Kobalt battery powered push mower. I got it out for the first time yesterday and it did an excellent (and very quiet) job.

As a result of the mowing yesterday, I was awake a lot of the night with a stuffy nose, coughing, etc. Good ol' Springtime allergies. Staying home, but my wife is heading off for church with our son.Staying home, but my wife is heading off for church with our son. Planning to keep my butt on the couch doing very little until the family shows up for Easter dinner.

Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning and Easter blessings to all! A thin cloud layer as the sun fighting to get through. We should see 80 degree temps later.
No big plans for the day. May get to see some of the grand kids later.
Leg of lamb used to be the choice for Easter dinner, but now I'd be the only one eating it and the price means we'll have something else.

STAY SAFE
LATER
