The cast is gone, I now have a boot/brace with an inflatable inner the other half says it looks like a power ranger boot, so I want two! The dr said the mri taken in the hospital 6 days before he not yet reached his department, he can still see a hair line, but I squeezed out of the cast by a hairs whisker and told if I am lucky in 2 to 3 weeks I might be down to one crutch and to be very careful of the knee which will still be an issue long after the ankle is healed, husband had a boot/brace and was out and a bout no crutch in no time, my knee is an issue, but I have been hobbling around on the crutches gingerly bearing weight, and only used the wheelchair when a home delivery arrived,so fingers crossed in the right direction, I have been told t let 2-3 months before the. Leg stops swelling then unswerving giving me a nice case of pins and needles, poor other half still stuck with all the outside chores and sone of inside, also Now having to move stuff for ne because with the wheelchair I had an easy carry system with the crutches I can barely manage to walk carrying anything is not a skill I have. mastered.

Jaz: They take your kneecap? They were talking about me losing mine sometime in the future as well, but I'm managing to keep enough muscle tone to keep it for now.

Well, Shortest time I ever owned a computer. Being returned (Dell paid for shipping both ways) and the new one is on order. With tax saved $165, downside is no instant gratification. Machine not expected to ship until after Christmas 😢, but I like $165 more😍😍😍!!!!

Do you superglue those hatches as well, I see no glue marks?
Most of the parts on this particular Accurail model kit are press-fit, although I do use Testor's Liquid Cement in many places. It can be applied to the pins from the inside. The only place where it is really necessary to use super glue is on the two end walkways.
Here's an example of the bottom hatches.

You have to brush on the solvent from inside before you glue the weight on.

While I don't disdain rivet counters, I do not allow them in my train shed!
I allow them in, but only once.

I had the former Director of Operations of the Mosinee Paper Mill, a former neighbor, stop in and look at the layout. He hated my mill which is mostly “sort of” based on his former work place. He let me know that the mill wasn’t close. He hasn’t been invited back and won’t be.

Good morning. The weather is nice at 73 going to 83 which seems to be the daily forecast. Yesterday’s rain in Hawaii would be considered a light mist at home in Wisconsin. The water collection system was not tested.

I just got back from driving the brother to his plane ride to Wisconsin. My brother and my sister are car nuts. The gene they got from dad and missed me. I see no reason to be driving 600hp+ and a car costing a nice house in Wisconsin. Give me 4 wheels a decent stereo and I am fine. But everyone‘s mileage and pocketbooks are different. I have been driving VW’s for many years, they are fine.

Golf at 10, Terry and my sister are off riding the horses. The brother’s girlfriend is at the pool at 7am when I started typing this. The wall in the garage is up with one layer of drywall and the electrical boxes installed. I got back from golf yesterday and Terry said she would come along to the garage and inspect the landscaping.
Surprise! She had the contractor do the wall framing install, the door, the inside layer of drywall and do the electrical boxes. Took them 3 hours. I have to wire the boxes, mud and tape the drywall, insulate and then drywall the garage side of the wall. Per code the drywall thickness has to be double for a fire stop. The room will be considered habitable, even though it is not attached to the main house. I was and I am very happy.

The HVAC guys come out tomorrow. I will have the boxes wired and hopefully the interior walls taped and mudded by dinner tonight. Hopefully by dinner on Wednesday with no golf tomorrow I will have the insulation done. The building inspector at golf yesterday said he can come out with a few hours notice whenever I get the above done. At the time yesterday I was unaware the wall was getting worked on. He said he will inspect what’s done, ok it, then wire the electrical box, (he is the electrician too) ok that, then I can close off the wall with the double drywall. After I tape and mud that he will do the final inspection. This will keep me busy.

The girls got the hard to get turkey for Thursday yesterday. For 4 of us a 26# monster ButterBall

because they basically didn’t have any others much smaller. Lots of extra stuffing then!

Enjoy your day

Afternoon All,

Took Dad to get his new hearing aids...now if he will just wear them. After getting home I planted trees and put in a smaller gravel lot for a already built tower with interior and lighting. The kit was from Monster Model Works. Tomorrow I should have several hours working on the layout.

Ken- It looks like the divider works well.

Karl- I like your layout plan.

Jaz- The gas bottles look great.

Jesse- Look forward to seeing your lighting progress. I do it but they're pretty clunky.

Ken- LOL. You just have to love animals and small children.

DJ- I'm glad your procedure went well.

Willie- Nice looking car, scene and building. My wife keeps asking where my hobo scene is.

Mike- That leg looks really painful.

Patrick- It was the smart thing to do.

TomO- That's just rude.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Willie, it most certainly is trespassing, none the less sad. The railroads have done everything humanly possible to deter trespassers

In my opinion, every death of a predestination in that area and there have been many, has been a case of death by misadventure.

How can anyone not know walking on train tracks is dangerous? To do so is to risk your own life.

Having said that, my thoughts and prayers go out to those who have lost loved ones. No matter how you lose someone, it has to hurt.

I was saying the other day we were going to the Westchester Medical Center for our Covid-19 booster shots.
Back around 2001 my company built a parking garage there. At the time they were installing a real EMD FL9 with
a model railroad to be built inside. This was for the child cancer patients to have some fun with.
I told one of my bosses I use to run that engine when I worked for the railroad and he knew I had a model RR
in my basement. He told the hospital director and the director wanted to see me.
He said, would you be interested building a model railroad inside?
I told him I was just too busy with others projects at the time but I'm sure someone would do it.
I would have liked to see what happened with the project but
I'm sure no one would remember me so we just got our shots and went home. Here's the loco in the below photo.

Good Afternoon all! A really nice day with mild temps, and sunny.
I spent the day outside mowing, trimming, edging and sweeping mostly the front yard. But it does look pretty good and hopefully will only need mowing one more time, maybe mid Dec.
I got my Moderna booster yesterday. I just walked into Target and got the shot. It's a CVS outlet in Target. Maybe took 15 minutes.
Sadly, no railroad news.

STAY SAFE
LATER

I disagree.
Walking the tracks can be dangerous if you are drunk, drugged, stupid, or wearing ear-buds, but, they don't seem all that dangerous if one is paying attention. I know through experience that you can hear a train coming at least 1/2 mile away, and all you need do to avoid death, is step aside. There are no fences to stop a person from getting out of the way, or from getting onto the tracks.

There were a few deaths I heard about on the mainline tracks in Edson this year. All of them were suicides, not accidents. For whatever reason, those people wanted to die, and used the train to do it.

Here in town, everyday, the people working in the school board building on the southside of the tracks, cross-over to the northside, just to have lunch downtown. It's easier to walk across the tracks than it is to drive to the crossing to get around them. Honestly, I have never seen a single one of them use this thing:

Then there is the question of trespassing. -

Oddly, I don't feel like a criminal for taking photographs down at the tracks. I've never had to jump a single fence or crash a single gate to get any of those photos. Normally, I simply stroll over and get the camera out. Using that clandestine method, I've collected hundreds of historical photos of trains.

Perhaps the situation is different in cities. Out here, though, in small town Alberta, the tracks are as good a path to take as any.

Guy: Problem with the Northeast corridor, is you frequently don't get a warning. The Passenger trains are electrified ,they're fast and very quiet. Amazing just how quiet those monsters can be at 125 / 130 mph. Not exactly what you're used to. From experience, reaction time, from first seeing the trespasser, to reaching for the warning horn is longer than you imagine, and at 110 mph, that's quite a distance traveled. Big difference from a diesel powered freight rumbling along at 50 mph, that in most cases, can be heard from quite a distance. Note, that much of the ROW on the NEC is either elevated, depressed, and / or fenced. It's sport to cut the fence and use the tracks to avoid safe paths, or to walk along the tracks.

Overhauling BLI locomotives. Any thoughts? I was on another forum, and someone was lamenting that his 18 year old BLI locomotive is no longer repairable, due to electronics no longer being available. I have read numerous articles about re-motoring, and decoder installation / replacement from other brands, but never BLI (or MTH for that matter). What is it with these two brands. I mean essentially all model locomotives, (HO and N), are essentially the same, and coupler swaps, decoder swaps, speaker installations, motor and drive swaps are quite common. Just curious.
