Good Morning!
It's 26F on a might or might not snow day. The guesser just don't know, so he's given it a 55% chance. I suppose that's a near 50/50 chance of being right.
The wife and I have the same fight every year!! She wants those damn Christmas lights up already. - I can't stand it! The worst part of it is, she always wins that fight. - But I'll go a number of rounds, trying to hold off the inevitable as long as I can. Maybe I'll put up 1 Christmas light per day for the next month.
Karl - Liked the layout and son photos you posted. They made me look up the 'Timonium' train show. There is something on the web from 2019.
We don't have any train shows close to me; in fact, we don't have shows of any type. It's just part of living in a small out-of-the-way town.
Joe - That's a very nice gondola that sure looks new. Hope you post more photos if you put a load in there.
Tom - Thankyou for posting photos of the modified railcar couplers. Suppose I'd better look at doing that to some Model Power cars I own. Yesterday, I noted that they want near $70.00 for a new Atheran tank car. Way too much, if one wants a fleet.- It seems all railcars are up there these days. I found a few old Model Power cars at the 2nd hand store for $3.00 the lot.
Willie - Really a fine job done on the 3-bay open hopper; well done! I like the figures, as well.
Patrick - It's nice to see you made it into the train room for some modeling. Good job!
I was out walking the dog yesterday, when I came across a young buck. It struck me as odd that it was loosing the right antler so early. I'm thinking he might have had it damaged in a rut-fight or knocked it on a tree. Here's a photo, and a blow-up of the same photo.
You can see a bit of the right antler just hanging there.
Yesterday, I located the structure that was started last year and abandoned because I lost motivation.
I never did like the color I made it; some of you may remember I started with a baby blue hue. Then I changed it to a grey-tan color. Now, I changed it again to the more yellowish-tan color you see in the photo. I spread on 'Burnt Sienna' oil with a stiff brush.
Now, I don't mind the color, and intend to continue on with a pin-wash on the wood trim.
Here's a photo of the state-of-play:
For the most part, it's the window treatment that bothers me and makes me quit. I like windows about as much as getting my teeth pulled out.
I used square balsa to split the interior. The lower floor will be lighted, if I ever finish it.
Well, that's two cups of coffee, and a-lot of yap! I suppose I'd better get on with the day. It's a good one, and shouldn't be wasted in front of a PC.
Have a good one!
