Well, howdy there internet cafe dwellers

It's troy again.

Living the big life down in Vegas! Here's me standing in Bally's lobby at the 5:45 am line for coffee with only one barista working the cafe. She kept it moving though.

Even though Caesar's properties have good air filtration on the casino floors, I still sink like cigarette smoke when I come back each night. And that's just from wandering to and from in both Ballys and Paris hotels. I don't gamble, so I'm not in the bars or at the machines/tables. Ugh... Vegas, the ashtray of America

I only skim read some of the posts and just looked at Pics on here from the last few days. If you respond, BOLD my name so I see it.

Did just find another author from my home town. Going to do coffee with her tomorrow morning instead of standing in line.

I'm off to word some words while I wait on a call from the wife.

Some hep, if you please. You who are internet savvy.

For some reason, I can not get into my other RR forum. https://www.modeltrainforum.com/

I can bring it up when not signed in, but as soon as I login, the screen goes blank:

It is quite vexing as I would like to see and reply to some posts there in which I sought help.

I suspect an inadvertent setting change or somesuch, but where and what?

I know this is not rteally the place, but if anyone has an idea, I'd be glad to see it. Thanks!

Good Morning all! It is warming up quite nicely, and should be a good day. Upper 70's are predicted. Rain forecasted for Thursday.
Flo, Steak and eggs. I'm celebrating. Covid-19 test came back Negative.

Thanks to everyone for the likes on Jefferies Point. I still have some work to finish it, then add some figures and then plant it.
I now have 10 Bar Mills structures, 3 Blair. I look at some of the old plastic buildings (30 year old stuff) and they really seem to be more toy-like looking than these newer buildings. I guess I'm going to need to replace them.

Garry - Great to see you in amongst the trains.
Toot - That Montana scenery is fantastic.
Guy - Nice scenery in your neck of the woods as well.
Willie - I'm not going to attempt putting people in my bus and that's final.
IBKen - Nice layout pic.

STAY SAFE

While I haven't been on that forum in over a year, I was still able to log-in just a few minutes ago.

SteveJ, like Willie I haven’t been there in years but just logged in with no issue. Maybe clear your cache and histories and try logging in again. Good luck.

I have to go back a few pages and read what is going on here, but it seems like a lot.

On Saturday I ordered some pieces of rolling stock from Midwest Model Railroad in Missouri. They arrived yesterday per tracking and then an email from MidwestMR. Impressed. I asked my SIL to open them to inspect and send me pictures. Here is one of the 5 pieces ordered. I now have enough cars for the cold storage warehouse, 8.

its the Atlas 64’ trinity Reefer. I believe it’s the BLMA tooling that Atlas purchased a few years ago. It needs some graffiti and a touch of weathering but from the pictures my SIL sent it looks great.

The SIL will do the graffiti on the 5 pieces before I get home. That’s why it’s on the paint bench.

Morning Internet RR Cave Cafe People!
We have another CC day looking at us of 50F to 71F under clear and calm skies - none of that "white sheet" stuff here!
One of these days, when my BP has returned to a more normal setting, I will tell a little about the trip to Nevada and Arizona that the Spousal Unit and I really enjoyed with the RV and pups!
Needless to say - it was an adventure!

Echoing Hughie:

Willie - I'm not going to attempt putting people in my bus and that's final.
IBKen - Nice layout pic. and I like the tractor/trailer hiding in the background. Is that the very nice cabin car that you built a couple of years back?

Hi FLO -- A Santa Barbara sandwich loaded with Avocado and Bacon, fries, and a Diet DP, please.

TERRY, Seems to me that you might ought to look for a job that would appreciate your computer skills and knowledge.

DARN IT! Forgot to post?

Afternoon All,

Ran a couple of errands with Dad then worked on the landscaping around the mine. The base coat is medium soil and dirt from Scenic Express. The problem with that is if you use thinned glue and RA (like normal) the dirt comes out weird looking so I found by putting down a layer of straight Elmers then sprinkle the dirt and pat it down it looks the best. I tried adding turf on top of it and it came out looking horrible. I ended up putting straight Elmers again on top of the dried dirt and patting the extra splotches of grass and cinders/coal into the glue. Different than I'm used to but it seems to work. Tomorrow I plan on starting the adventure with static grass.

TomO- Nice looking cars and scene.

IBKen- Great layout shot.

Toot- Nice photo.

Ken- Sorry about your friends passing.

Garry- Great to see you in the train room.

Willie- Nice modeling. I wonder why the manufacturer made the interior yellow?

Guy- Nice photos.

With the thinned glue and RA. It looks wet but is dry.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Good morning. This weekend was kind of a mixed bag at my house. My wife is still suffering from her misadventure Friday, the dog’s condition continues to deteriorate—we don’t know how much longer we can deal with it—or how long the dog can deal with it, either.
On a positive note, I was offered a job making more money than I do now. The downside is, I’d have to commute daily to Charlotte, which is neaarly 90 miles each way, plus I’d be a couple of hours from home in case of a problem.
90 miles is a long way,a lot of fuel and wear and tear on tyres etc, especially in bad weather, and time, better money though may be a saving grace, only you can decide, sorry about wife and the dog,you did give your pup a good innings, big question can you afford to leave wife that long,I hope it works out for,you really deserve a good break

Good Afternoon Gentlemen
No trainroom news as I have had just too much to do to spend any time in there without feeling guilt. Couple weeks ago that "bomb cyclone" hit N calif. and we got 8+ inches of rain and many feet of wind! A large digger pine got blown over out front so I've been cutting that up a little at a time.

Our world famous covered bridge reopened last week after several years of overhaul. Here's a couple pics I took sunday. We hadn't walked across it since it closed in 2012 I think. Heres a link. http://www.nevadacounty.com/bridgeport-covered-bridge-nevada-county-ca/

Hope I dont get booted off for not posting train pics. Maybe this wet weather will let me to get back into the trainroom soon. Hope all are well.

Once again, almost a wk with no puter access. Like all that is text & pictographs. Jaz, tyres is really spelt tires. ;) Or is it tiers.?
I commuted 105 Kms , one way, for 20 yrs. But only during the 7 months with the least snow storms etc. { this while I was raising 2 young uns without their mother living with us} Usually April to maybe mid Nov. JUst loved the drive in early am. Except for the 3 deer that thought they could get through a steel door! My hour of music & contemplation. 695000 Kms (89 oil changes) , courtesy of the dealership I bought it from-[used] on one vehicle & a few thou on the newer one.
