Complaint! I think I have gained 6 pounds just reading about all the good food that was consumed by forum members and their families.

A week ago, I found a RUSTY RAILS kit for a 1930s Mack truck and laid it out to begin assembling it. It has one page of brief instructions and two pages of assembly photos. Only by studying the photos do I figure out how some of the parts fit together. This is not a kit for a beginner and painting parts before gluing things together is necessary.
The kit is a "bare frame" truck, so I am having to figure out what type of bed I want to make for the truck.
Here are a couple photos getting started.

Afternoon All,

Went to the port to pick up daughter's family. The trip was uneventful with light traffic for a change. I guess daughter did not have a good cruise due to family issues. I did 3 tests of trying to come up with a dirty/oily looking dirt ground cover for the engine servicing facility. I think I found what I'm going to do. I still need to do the same process for the trackwork. Tomorrow Dad and I going to visit a MRR friend in Orlando and next Thursday to a different MRR friend.

Thank you to everyone for your likes of the Hendrix section.

Mikey- Thank you. That looks like an interesting kit.

Karl- Great looking restoration. I was surprised by how few steam fans were present.

Sherrel- Congratulations to your grandson.

IB Ken- Thank you.

Troy- Sounds like a real nice baked bean recipe.

Jaz- Nice job on the helos.

Willie- Good news about your wife. Nice decaling job.

Chris- I hope you and your wife feel better real soon.

Ken- I hope your SIL and granddaughter get better quickly.

All three start with a white glue base then fine dirt applied. After that 2 coats A&I applied.

This had 1 layer of A&I some splotches of black weathering powder then another layer of A&I. I prefer this one.

I hope everyone has a good night.

The old days though are gone. Who knows what Bart Starr would have done making 30 million a year playing plus 20 mill in yearly endorsements? I don’t think it’s the money for A Rod. I believe it is the ridiculous and intense media insane coverage these guys have to put up with. All the GB press knew Paul Hornurg was gambling but didn’t write it up until the NFL found out and punished him. Now a days we generally know about issues or made up issues pretty quick.

My wife Cathy in past annually was able to get four clubhouse passes for the Vince Lombardi Golf Classic at North Hills CC. We would bring our two neighbors who treated us to three or four Packer games a year. At the Classic, I would get to the Club House and secure a table with four chairs and I would stay there while the rest of the group was out on the golf course getting autographs. The Club House was restricted to football players past and present, coaches and team management.

One year while sitting alone, someone tapped me on the shoulder and I turned and there was Bart Starr who ask me for one of the chairs for his wife Cherry. I explained to Bart Starr about the group coming back and he said he would return the chair when our friends returned. About an hour later Bart returned the chair, asked me for my name and then thanked me several times and shaked my hand. A true Gentleman.

Later as he was leaving with his wife, Bart Starr said to me in front of Cathy and our friends, "Thanks again Greg".

We met Bart Starr many times since that day and he always a Class Act.

Greg

Greg - Aren't you nearby the city of Waukesha? Stay safe there.

Willie: I am about 15 miles from downtown Waukesha. I when to Tech College in Waukesha and then the University of Wisconsin branch in Waukesha. Cathy went to the Parade Memorial on Wednesday to pay her respects. Waukesha is a city of about 70k and the downtown area is very historic and has many smaller shops.

Yo I just finished reading back from my last post...Happy mostly favorable comments about your respective Thanksgivings. We had a great Thanksgiving, Traditionally, today is the day we reheat and finish the left overs. This time, we have to supplement the side dishes.

We replaced the ceiling fluorescent bulbs in the kitchen with LED tubes. and found that at least one of the three 30 year old fixtures was bad. Back to the HD to buy three new fixtures. Fortunately, both sons are qualified electricians, Oldest son, also installed blinking snow flakes across the front porch. All I have to do is connect the wreath I place between the living room windows. My decorating style of late, is keep it simple.

I have been reading the latest, (December) issue of Railroad Model Craftsman. Editor, Otto VonDrak, has outdone himself again. Featureing the B&O engine house, at Arlington, on Staten Island. Great idea, for a three stall roundhouse, in the diesel era, plus other good articles.

This is a day late, but features the spirit of Thanksgiving Dinner on the Capitol Limited, featuring the entire crew. B&O Marketing photo circa 1964. Courtesy of Bill Howes.

Good afternoon on the day after Thanksgiving. Slept in the rack until noon today. In the past being in the shopping center business for over 39 years, Black Friday meant setting the alarm for 3:00 AM and then be in my office by 5:00 AM for a day that will maybe end at 5:00 PM.

Yesterday sat by the fireplace and watched football until dinner which was a Prime Rib roast that had no taste. Seems like today's beef doesn't taste like beef from several years ago.

Nothing to report in the model railroading area. Think I found a lap top PC for less than $100, but I'll need to have to install Windows to use my Digitrax PR-4. I'll need to install Windows which I thought I had, but can't find my Disk. I did a Service Ticket with Digitrax on Thanksgiving and there was an answer already today from Digitrax.

That's all for now.....

Greg

Good afternoon y'all. Hope that Thanksgiving was good to everyone.

Flo- A round of coffee for everyone, my treat.

I ordered some detail parts for my service station today. Hopefully they will be here in about 2 weeks or so. I'm going to try to get the building ready in the meantime. I have to track down a power supply for my LEDs, but I plan to add a couple to it as well. I'm probably going to have to find something different to use for windows in it though, as the "glass" that came with it is rather shiny and looks like it will be too reflective for what I'm looking for. The kit came with printed stock to simulate the interior, but I find it unacceptable for my taste. I'm adding pics of what I ordered. The car is a bit too new for the era I am modeling, but I think I can get away with the rest, especially with how small the shop area is. I'm also including a picture of the lights I settled on. If anyone has a suggestion for a reliable power supply, is appreciate it.

Y'all have a blessed day.

Still morning here for another 31 minutes. 5 hour difference from the Central Time Zone. I am bushed, tired, sore and tired. Put up the 1st layer of drywall with no issue took about 2 hours, done about 8:30. Took a break and then started back in, much slower. Second layer I wasn’t sure the drywall metal screws were catching the metal studs. After a test found out they were. Finished up the second layer at about 11am. Called for a ride home and the son came to get me. After a quick hot shower I am out under the shade umbrellas. Hopefully I can tape and mud tomorrow but as this morning moved on I knew no way was mudding going to happen today. I asked the chauffeur why he didn’t come out to help me. “Dad, we were doing whatever you and mom did when you said you were celebrating a new day“.

I will have a ham sandwich for lunch, Flo please may i also have a diet Dr Pepper. I dont want to look at any left over turkey right now. Nope, no chips or fries, thanks for remembering.

Have a nice day

Mikey, I think the Complaint department closed about noon on T-day. You know Covid and all. Opens Monday at noon as I think we forget about our complaints from the week.

Think really positive that those eaters had a good time and the 6#s will go away, I think, nope I hope.

I agree with your pick of the 3. Good work

Evening all,

Got to see mom and even got the wife to go with me. Monthly phone meeting went on between sister in charge and the home while we had our visit. They felt the visit was more important to mom than the meeting that really was an update and nothing new.

Was a nice drive with the wife. She's becoming a real homebody.

Curt- I agree that number three will be the best dirt, but there will be places where sample 2 can be used.
Light usage of number 2 at repair entrances and places that would have spills of petroleum drums.

Good evening Shop Dwellers!

Looks like most of you had a pretty good Thanksgiving. [Chris - hope you and your family recover quickly!]

It was the usual scenario for me: Overindulge, feel sick later. Probably wouldn't have happened if my son hadn't located a source of sour cherries canned in water, but he did - and brought them to MHO, who in turn made one of the most mouth-watering cherry pies ever! Had no self-control whatsoever, and I proceeded to wolf down two large slices of the pie. This led first to acid indigestion, followed by reflux - then a sugar "crash".

Though we did most of the cooking, the dinner was hosted at my #1 daughter's house since our grandson just turned 1 year old and has learned to walk, and our own house is still a long way from being child-proofed. They're having a birthday party for him on Sunday afternoon, and his mom has convinced me to dress up as good ol' St Nick! 😲 Not sure if I'm rotund enough to fill out the red suit, so I guess a few pillows will have to suffice..[?]

Nothing photo-worthy to report from the trainroom today. I re-worked the support hardware for the yard/staging view blocker to get rid of the unsightly drywall screws; that was a time-consuming effort that also required a trip to Home Depot (which I had hoped to avoid on Black Friday) to pickup a 5ft length of conduit tubing, which I re-purposed and cut into 3-inch sections to act as sleeves over the rear (hidden) support screws - this enables me to just slide the panels into position as I was able to do with the front-facing screws before I removed them. I still need to do more detailing and painting, I'll share photos as soon as that's been done.

Good Night - and have a Pleasant Tomorrow!
